  1. Excellent as always, KC. I have a sneaking suspicion that you'll reveal a little twist with Sofia. :P
  2. The paranoia one is perfectly accurate. For the others, I'm not totally certain. High avoidance is very likely nonetheless.
  3. Bang on the mark. Fear on a large scale is mostly produced by the human imagination. For example, ever since werewolves became popular, more people started to fear wolves. Same with bats turning into vampires. The human brain is quite scary in itself. Except unlike bats and wolves spiders DON'T have a negative media image. With the exception of the black widow ive not really heard any bad stories about spiders. The movie arachnophobia is more of a comedy than a serious horror film. I always assumed the fear of spiders to come from when I was really young. Curious about things but not things that move fast or walked all over me. I don't like spiders because I was scared as a kid not because of the media's portrail. True. I've watched quite a few documentaries detailing the dangers of handling certain spiders, yet they always reminded the viewer that spiders, like most other animals, will only usually attack when they feel threatened. There have also been few movies that used spiders as villains (I can only recall a few). Spider-like beings even became super hero's. :P But media attention of course does not always play a role in initiating fear- everyday humans can spread fear amongst each other just as fast as the media at times. I'm actually quite surprised that the media have had less spider films than werewolve or vampire films.

  5. Depends on the type of maturity you're talking about. I don't like defining maturity by intelligence. One can have a fairly low IQ yet be amazingly polite, whilst a genius could be a totally arrogant snob. Cases like these are generally unlikely, though they do exist. Of course, proper parenting may also have an affect on maturity. If one is a bad parent, their child will likely end up being a troublemaker in an attempt to 'fit in' with the other children in his/her peer group. However, good parenting or not, school itself will have an even bigger impact on maturity. You could start out perfectly fine, yet your maturity may gradually degrade through the years, all down to peer pressure. Society has become far too liberal in my opinion. At my own school for instance, teachers are too tolerant of student behaviour. As such, there has been a rapid decline in discipline. It's as though we can do what we want at times. In the early teenage years, this is definitely not good, and may have been contributing to increased levels of depression amongst this age group. Stereotyping is a nuisance, yet you cannot fight it. I won't mind if the person is dyslexic or from a non-English speaking country, but if you come from an English speaking country, then there's no excuse for poor grammar at all. It just shows you can't be bothered to listen in English class, or use far too much text speak. It's absolutely ridiculous. Not necessarily. You could have excellent grammar, yet be totally ignorant of other subjects e.g. your mathematical skills are poor. In essential though, decent grammar is better for all of us.
  6. The Wise Old Man Thread has been closed and the new WOMDA forums have been opened. Only investigators that we know of may contribute. Looks like you haven't been reading much into it pal- the original WOM thread was, after agreement from the rest of the team, closed due to spam, and the fact that we wanted a more controlled environment (AKA the new forums). The discussion IS CONTINUING, and KCHughes is as active as ever in pursuit of the secret. By all means, continue to investigate on Tip.It, but please bear in mind that WOMDA does not support this in any shape or form currently. The thread was closed, and to us the Tip.It discussion of the WOM shall remain closed. Oh, and did you have actual permission from the creator of those banners/signatures, 1alebcay, to redesign them and use them for your own purposes?
  7. Continuously jump up on people from behind, scaring the daylights out of them, then point and laugh at their reaction.
  8. Let me just add that all current main investigators should replace the current URL in their signatures to the new URL of our chosen discussion area. Anyway, whilst it is a bit sad to see the thread go, it was generally necessary. We now have a more controlled environment for our hard working team members to share their ideas, without fear of huge levels of spam. By the way, thanks for creating this KC- this wouldn't have happened without your brains, imagination, and general gunslinger attitude. :P
  9. If so, he may have once controlled Morytania, but I think it has passed to the legions of Zamorak now. I think we need more information on Lord Drakan, as he's the current ruler of the place. Out of interest, was Morytania formed before the God Wars or after?
  10. ... what? Display 24, empty? Are you absolutely sure? Because Skeeran recently posted a picture of it inside the display case on the WOMDA forums. So unless something weird has happened, I think you overlooked it. :P
  11. Probably won't be able to attend the meeting, though if it runs over an hour then I might just get in at the end. I actually thought the swamps were Zamorak's domain, as Zaros' primary influence was over the desert. However, it has been untouched since the God Wars apparently, so some useful relics may be found there. If you don't mind, perhaps some of our Members should team up together to search the new land when the safe passage is built? It will be much faster I'm sure.
  12. Age does have a significant factor on maturity. In most cases, the child's brain has not developed intellectually enough in order to engage in intelligent conversation. However, some brains develop faster than others, so it is entirely possible for an 8 year old to have superior intelligence to a 32 year old, but these cases are in the rarity. Therefore people stereotype. Stereotyping a certain group of people is based on picking out the majority and focusing on it. It neglects the minority, thus causing different views to conflict. I'm 13, and I have little care about the stereotyping of younger children. In fact, it makes things much more interesting, as stereotypes allow debates to occur. Debating issues is fascinating (especially religion). It allows individuals to express their beliefs on certain subjects to either be agreed or disagreed with, in perfectly sensible conversation. Yes, there is the odd idiot who will bash an opinion, blatantly refusing to give constructive input to the topic, but this doesn't happen as often as you would think. As for having difficulty in conversing with younger children, I understand what you mean. I largely prefer talking to adults, who are generally far more mature than my own peer group. Actually, my peer group is full of blabbering, immature idiots who are unable to understand the difference between they're, their, there, your, you're, too, to and two. And to think, my class is supposedly the smartest stream in Year 9! Either grammatical standards are dropping to mathematical and scientific skills or people have simply gotten dumber. All I do is get bullied for having the intelligence to type 'you.' And yes, discriminating adults happens quite often too. RuneScape is a prime example of it, with things like "omg u adutl u to oald u hav no lif!" It all comes down to jealousy of the adult being more intelligent than they are. Didn't you just technically stereotype 5 year olds?
  13. The problem with that is that it would go against the WOM's Saradominist beliefs. If he wants to be a god, he'll certainly be trying to act the goody two shoes for Saradomin. He could possibly, however, use Maliginus to raise Arrav from the dead. If done in secret Saradomin would never know. I can't imagine how powerful Arrav was (and he did come across as being pretty powerful)- I can't imagine how powerful a dead Arrav would be too.
  14. I was just thinking- perhaps the robbery of the bank was merely practice? I'm not sure if we ever fully worked it out- there were theories he robbed it so he could become the King of Falador, so that he could obtain runes etc. But now I think that he used the bank as practice for his ultimate target- the museum. I believe that there may be something of great importance that was going to be shipped over to it, yet the museum did not have the amount of money to add an extension for everything to 'fit in.' This may have been included in things that simply wouldn't fit properly into the currently very small museum. Now, if the WOM donated a large some of money so it could be extended, they would be able to bring in anything they wanted, with no worry of size. Then the WOM would just sneak in and take what he wanted. So, why not practice on an easy target? The bank would be brilliant- he becomes a relatively good thief, and gets quite a large sum of money out of it- large enough to make a donation to the museum of Varrock! Of course, as to what that thing he wants is, I have no idea. Probably not the Shield of Arrav specifically, though maybe he'll pick it up on the way? Perhaps Armadyl was originally the god of life instead of purity, and Guthix created him and Icthlarin to act in balance? Zaros may have zapped out some of Icthlarin's power, thus giving Zaros control of the final power he needed to become as strong as he once was- death. By splitting Icthadyl (Icthlarin and Armadyl as a whole being) into two, he could have stepped in and took over the power that they had. However, unbeknownst to him, he was bound to Armadyl, so he unknowingly became Zarodyl. Then when he 'died' he found himself joined to Armadyl. Thus why they want to kill each other- life and evil aren't a great balance, despite Zaros being in control of death. Armadyl needs to be rejoined with Icthlarin for a proper balance. But if he's killed by Zaros, then that may cause problems, also allowing Zaros' army to rise. And Alebcay, I think they're simply too powerful to kill each other. Someone needs to influence the 'battle' between them- a certain WOM, perhaps? :P If the WOM sides with Armadyl and kills Zaros, then Saradomin will most likely be rather happy to have another 'good' god on his side. The only problem with that is that Armadyl is a form of Guthix, which would possibly anger Saradomin. However, I think the Wise Old Man doesn't know that Armadyl could be the god of life- he may just believe he's the god of purity. As to why Saradomin stated that Armadyl's 'alive and well' I have no idea. He's just probably stirring up false hope- he's a bit of a liar. :P I prefer getting fat men to beat him up, but shootouts are more exciting. :P P.S. I registered on the forum- username is 'Angel Eyes.'
  15. Trobigod, you do realise that by leaving, it just shows that the spammers beat you? I don't see the logic. :-s The soul runes used to be life runes I believe, then they were changed for RS2. As I understand it, the life runes had the symbol of a sun on them. I'm thinking sun symbol = death instead of war now. Ties in well with Zaros having influence over the desert. Curiously, Life is one of Armadyl's facets of power- perhaps the symbols are used to represent BOTH Armadyl and Zaros? It certainly supports them being the same god. And Randox, about the scorpion- not sure about it, but I think the symbol just towards the very bottom left of your third picture looks like one. I'm anxious for the museum update- as soon as it happens, one of us needs to talk to the curator and ask him if the WOM donated the cash sum. If he did, we can link him to the museum, and any objects in it (The Shield of Arrav, anyone?). Off topic: Did you enjoy it? :P 'Four for you, and four... four for me.' Hehe... er, wait a second. Four? And if there's one more spammy post, I think we should consider possible Mod actions (if it CAN be counted as spam, that is).
