  1. Great idea, this basically cuts through all the "hey, are you still selling that ___ you mentioned on the forum?" "no soz" crap so you actually know when somebody is selling something, when they actually have it, and when they're ready to sell. I'm failing to see how this will hurt merchanting, I guess there will still be some spur-of-the-moment buyers who merchants will be able to make money off of because they're not willing to walk to the GE. And there's people who are just ignorant to how much the price of a certain item dropped and willingly pay for the merchanter's profits. Since that's basically what merchanting is, buy low from desperate people, sell high to desperate people. Here's to hoping the Grand Exchange isn't some sort of lightning-speed race, I wouldn't like to see every time I move my mouse to buy an item it was nabbed by someone else because it was such a great deal. That could be problematic once someone has bought out all the good deals and is now selling everything at an inflated price.
  2. Well it looks like they've learned from their mistakes, leaving domain names like "runescape millions" was not a good idea... I assume they don't really appreciate people taking advantage of really really worthless Runescape players like that(there is no "get rich" scheme, I assume the books teach you how to get off your [cabbage filter!] and runecraft, or merchant, more likely) but don't really have any legal grounds to tell them to cease and desist... so instead they demand that all Runescape pictures be removed from the sites. Mechscape sounds like fun, but that model is the exact opposite of cool. He's too fat and round, cool mechs have to be more anime-proportionate and edge-y. That's cause they like us.
  3. SPONGE BOB ftw Umm what? He's parodying a song by Nat King Cole called L-O-V-E. Spongebob didn't make that up. At first I didn't understand what "Runescape" meant.. I noticed it was also Run Escape but then I thought that was a stupid idea. I guess it does just mean Magic World, basically Runescape is a tale of a world (with unknown origins) where three men rose to power (and became gods somehow. This is why I don't believe in polytheism!), created magics locked away in stones called runes, and then people started doing stuff. Four ages later you are born. According to Barbarian Assault, they provide runes because these were the runes "blessed to us by the gods" that we are right to use, and runecrafting is sinful.. I guess runes are still made out of rune essence and crafted but apparently it's disrespectful towards the Runescape gods if you make them yourself.
  4. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your main, but I think one of the things that makes the holiday items so much fun is.. well, the truth is it makes us feel superior. Who doesn't like having something that others don't and never will get? The oldest item I have is the yo-yo, and until most of the 100+ players quit it's still not a super-rare holiday item but I like to occasionally pull it out and show off my dog-walkin' skills. Also I get a lot of kicks in f2p using the easter ring and then shouting "omg! easter egg! I'm rich!". Everyone comes running in all directions..
  5. I don't mean to plug in any other ideas but maybe the Quest cape could be in relation to a Music/Adventuring/Achievement Diary/miniquest/minigame cape. Having a 99 skill cape would not trim the quest cape, but having one of the capes listed above would. Miniquest would mean completing all sidequests and hidden updates(Ghostly Robes, Shadow Sword, I forget the rest). If any of these capes seem to easy to get, I guess there could just be no cape for those miscellanious subjects and then your Quest cape would get trimmed.
  6. That would be pretty interesting. Make them require a unique email too, and you might just eliminate some lazier macroers too. Does it take a really mature person to figure out how to make a Yahoo! email? Also this goes against Jagex's whole "we will never contact you through email" thing. F2P, in my opinion, is a filter where people try to either learn how Runescape works and where they fit in or spend a week in Lumbridge begging and then quit. If they choose the former path, they may eventually become a member and get to hang out with other cool people like me. If they take the latter path they'll probably be looking back 2 years from now and saying "geez i'm glad I wasn't hanging out with those nerds! I'm gonna go call my girlfriend. In real life.", unless they act like they do in Runescape in real life(gf plz? 2 hard! i need free stuff). Lots of people think Runescape is free. F2P isn't even worth playing unless you just really REALLY enjoy rewardless pking, think of nonmembers as just a demo for the real, less shameful to talk about in front of peers, Runescape.
  7. ..why no guitars? Apparently SachikiNimo is a little confused, because that's an acoustic guitar but she refers to it as an electric.. there are acoustic-electric guitars that are just louder, but it doesn't look like it's hooked up to an amplifier. >_> I don't see why (acoustic) guitars can't be in Runescape, unless a guitar made out of wood, bone, metal and steel strings is too advanced for a civilization of air balloons, Elemental Workshops, and Blast Furnaces.. Not that I think we should be able to run around with iPods and Guitar Hero controllers. That part was kind of funny. Also I suggested in an earlier music topic that playing music could support people in combat, skilling, or just do fun and silly things. There are Lyres in Relekka, yes, but if you try to play it, it just says "I don't know where I'd begin to play this..". If you enchant it, it's a one-time teleport to Relekka if you play it. Also I think you play it like once in the Fremennik Trials quest, but I don't remember very well. Also I heard something about drums and cowbells in The Cold War. But then I had to do Garden of Tranquility and it's boring, so.. I'll do that later. BTW: :D
  8. Crafting covers way too many things, Pottery and Tailoring(including Threadwork, for bs and such)could be two seperate skills.. I agree. Also an example of a too specific skill is Firemaking. Maybe it could be updated to be Pyrotechnics/Fireworks? EDIT: The only two skills left to make ever, IMO, are Bard/Music/Rhythm(play instruments, or combine with agility to add a rhythm of music to your fighting.. it's hard to dance-fight in armor though) and Summoning(self-explanatory). Summoning has a better chance since Bard has to do with music, and a lot of people prefer to play Runescape while listening to their own music so they would have to make music very visual. Most everything in Runescape except music can be depicted with imagery... EDIT AGAIN: or Sharane's ideas..
  9. An egg for 1k. I was talking about how wonderful my egg was and that a rubber chicken would hatch from it.. I gave the 1k back though once he had traded it to me. It was pretty funny though.
  10. Welcome to REAL Runescape, then. I don't see what you would want to go back to F2P for, there's not a whole lot of fun things to do in P2P that don't require a little bit of work with member's skills and items. For example, Castle Wars is good fun but you'll get pwned if you're only fighting in Full Rune. All dragon weapons aside from the spear and axe require a quest to use so you'll probably have to do some member's quests which usually means a few member skills. Treasure Trails is understandable since you want some f2p items to bring back with you to show what you did in P2P, but most good clue scrolls require some basic skills and knowledge of major questing areas around Runescape. Once you go P2P you'll never want to go back. If you can find a way to pay for P2P for a long period, I suggest you do it.
  11. Read below. Other options are Longswords(d long...), an anchor, cutlass, crossbow..
  12. There's always been a worldwide disagreement on which is cooler: a pirate, or a ninja. For those who are uninformed, Pirates are eye-patch wearing, peg-legged, accented people of the sea who pillage every town they come across and wage war with other pirates. Since the dawn of time they have been rivals with ninjas. In case you have not heard, Ninjas are stealthy predators of the night. Usually dressed in pitch-black head to toe, they kill their targets(as assassins, usually) by poison, a dagger in and out of someone's neck, or sometimes unfortunate accidents that the ninja may have had something to do with. These warriors of the dark detest pirates. Now, the time has come(or maybe tomorrow, or maybe never) to wage a great battle that will hopefully decide who the true victors are, though it may never settle the arguement of pirates vs. ninjas. ABOUT: Teams will be set up, and players may voluntarily join either one, but switches may be negotiated if one team is obviously at an advantage. Uniforms to identify eachother will be as follows: Pirates -Pirate Shirt -Pirate Leggings -Eyepatch(pirate hat if you don't mind losing it!) Weapons: -A scimitar of any kind -A longsword of any kind -A cutlass -A Barrelchest Anchor -Crossbow(this creates a weird effect with pirate leggings) or any other obvious pirate weapon. Ninjas -The outfit will be as shown above, it is made out of mostly player kit clothing. It costs 1,000 gold to change your outfit at Thessalia's clothing store in Varrock. If you can get Rogue clothing, that is an excellent alternative. -Facemask -Defender(not a necessity) Weapons: -A dagger of any kind -Any throwing knives -Claws of any kind -fists if you're good enough! or any other obvious Ninja weapons I forgot about. Mages and rangers are welcome, but if you mage please don't bring a staff. I guess this would be held in the Wilderness. Both teams would start in Edgeville, but they would split up, and the Pirates will start by the shore and the Ninjas will make a base out of one of the old castles/ruins in the area. Strategies on who approaches who is up to the teams to decide. Each player on each team will carry a single noted item, to be decided and probably provided before the battle. Once you defeat an enemy, you may remove this item from their corpse and you will use it to keep count of all the enemies you've defeated. --- Does this sound interesting? I thought it would be a good idea.. I don't think I would make a great host, I guess it would be on the weekend and I usually have lots of plans come up then.
  13. The animation has been like this for a rather long time, It wasn't hidden either, it was mentioned in an update in the front page. :-k RAAAAAAGH The mining animation HAS changed, and it was NOT on the front page(unless it was hidden underneath the new Silverlight story). It still looks like the pickaxe weighs 500 pounds but while I was mining pure essence I noticed that the player does not follow through with the swing as much, he kind of stops 3/4s of the way then pulls it back, then goes for another swing. If you don't believe me you can try it for yourself. But of course if you haven't mined about 5k essence ever since the first mining animation update, it might not be noticable to you. It just surprises me that nobody here seems to have mined at all today. :/
  14. Shurikens. I'm not very impressed by the idea yet. I wouldn't only make graphics if people like the idea.. You'll get more people that like the idea once you get pictures. You're doing it backwards.
  15. This is a great joke. No kidding, unlike some of the crap in this topic. Not yours though, truffoo. That's genuine hilarity right there. A comedy goldmine. ANYWAYS: Streaking in falador. Some non-tifer comes to join us since he has the Varrock Body 1 also. So I light a fire, and start cooking some pike while standing facing him so it looks like I'm doing something.(I cannot describe it) He says "WHOA! What are you doing!?" I say "I'm cooking pike. What were YOU thinking? ... He says "oh. well I was thinking tuna" :D
