  1. This is the main problem I have with quoting Leviticus in a modern context. "Don't let cattle graze with other kinds of Cattle (Leviticus 19:19) Don't have a variety of crops on the same field. (Leviticus 19:19) Don't wear clothes made of more than one fabric (Leviticus 19:19) Don't cut your hair nor shave. (Leviticus 19:27) Any person who curseth his mother or father, must be killed. (Leviticus 20:9) Have you ever done that? If a man cheats on his wife, or vise versa, both the man and the woman must die. (Leviticus 20:10). I wonder if Dr. Laura would like that one to be enforced? If a man sleeps with his father's wife... both him and his father's wife is to be put to death. (Leviticus 20:11) If a man sleeps with his wife and her mother they are all to be burnt to death. (Leviticus 20:14) If a man or woman has sex with an animal, both human and animal must be killed. (Leviticus 20:15-16). I guess you should kill the animal since they were willing participants. Are they crazy? If a man has sex with a woman on her period, they are both to be "cut off from their people" (Leviticus 20:18) Psychics, wizards, and so on are to be stoned to death. (Leviticus 20:27) If a priest's daughter is a [bleep], she is to be burnt at the stake. (Leviticus 21:9) People who have flat noses, or is blind or lame, cannot go to an altar of God (Leviticus 21:17-18) Anyone who curses or blasphemes God, should be stoned to death by the community. (Leviticus 24:14-16)" EDIT: forgot to cite http://biblebabble.curbjaw.com/laws.htm
  2. I think the Wii will beat the 360 and the PS3 in the long run......oh....what's that....this thread is about football? Oops....I really couldn't care less. I only want the Pats to win so people at my school will be happier.
  3. Wow this is something I hadn't known. The current test for HIV tests for the virus itself rather than the antibodies to it. So there should be little to no period where the virus is present but not detectable.
  4. I understand that the intent was to protect people from HIV, but the method is actually quite a bigoted way of doing things. On the form that you fill out it asks you if you've ever had sex with another man since 197X even once, but it doesn't ask you if you've had promiscuous sex with 300 people the previous week. I understand that to most people the gay "culture" involves promiscuous unprotected sex, but a monogamous gay couple has a much lower risk of HIV/other STD's than a heterosexual person who has unprotected sex with multiple partners per week. The form should really be asking you how many different partners you've had in the past 3 years if it wants a fair way of doing things. BTW, it is my understanding that the American Red Cross is already trying to get this law removed, so if even they think it is a bad idea then it probably is.
  5. I know this is gonna sound like and [wagon] move, but I just always lie on that question. I've been tested...I know I'm not infected so I don't see whats wrong with it.
  6. That is very brave. I'm an Eagle scout and I probably wouldn't have had the presence of mind to try to stop an assassination attempt on someone. I also agree that there are too many people who bash people who are members of Boy Scouts. I know that I've learned valuable lessons and that achieving Eagle will definitely help me when I start applying for co-ops in the next year of so. Sports can get in the way in later years, but the modern Eagle rank has been watered down from what it used to be. It used to require a full commitment ad it was expected that it wouldn't be earned until the candidate was about 16 or 17 at the earliest. Now it isn't completely uncommon to see 14 and 15 year old Eagles. I actually planned on not only completing the requirements for Eagle in the present day, but also from my dad's book (1965-ish), but it was just too difficult to find all of the old requirements let alone complete them.
  7. Normally I can only eat about 6 slices, but if I've got the munchies then I can eat about a large pizza and a half.
  8. I've been told by many that Requiem for a Dream is the most depressing movie that they have seen, but I personally didn't find it that saddening.
  9. +1 She discourages pre-marital sex even though SHE HAS CLEARLY BEEN HAVING IT this is a problem. :( It might not be that much of a problem. Her show could just do an episode on being a total hypocrite.
  10. My first kiss was at about 16 when we were playing truth or dare. It was with another guy which is funny cause I was gay, but none of my friends knew yet.
  11. How many times will I have to disprove this very statement! Imagine this situation I've taken a person prisoner and starved them for 6 days. After those 6 days I put them in a room with a meal sitting on a table. I know that if I return in at most 2-3 hours that meal will have been eaten. I knew this, but I did not force him to eat that meal. It was his choice (free will) even though I knew what he would do (and example of prior knowledge which would be called omnipotence if I knew everything). Therefore my knowledge of his actions didn't mean that he didn't choose to make those actions. MEANING omnipotence does NOT negate free will. I'm talking about predestination, not omnipotence. Well thats even easier to disprove....Christians don't believe in predestination. EDIT: Well...some do, like John Calvin (the founder of Calvinism) did, but that is hardly a reflection on the general perception of a Christian God Predestination is in the bible. You're saying it's ok to pick and choose which parts of the bible you want to believe in? Show me where it come from in the Bible (and which version) and I'll consider believing it. The reason I say consider it is because if it comes from the Old Testament then chances are it is outdated and only related to Jewish society of thousands of years ago. Also many "beliefs" found in the New Testament are merely single lines taken completely out of context. The reason I ask which version is because certain people edited the Bible to fit their particular needs, so one version may not be representative of all Christian beliefs. Furthermore I think you can pick and choose. I'm a Catholic, but I'm also gay. That means I'm taking the overall meaning of something and using it to the benefit of my own life and others without paying much regard to the individual details of the system. I believe in the overall message of the Bible rather than every single detail contained therein.
  12. did you read that snopes article? While the list itself is a fake (sorry for not checking my sources  ) many of the numbers it cites are in essence true.

  14. I don't personally enjoy most of their music, but it is impossible to deny that they contributed more to music than most other sources.
  15. Not paying taxes means not being a legal entity. Not being a legal entity means living off the grid. Living off the grid means not having any benefits. Illegals cannot apply for social security, welfare, etc., and they obviously do not have the language skills and boldness necessary to "con the system" as a real American person could. Besides, the potential income tax from their below-minimum wage is too insignificant to matter. Thats not exactly true
