  1. Its amazing isn't it. When I first heard of the new grand exchange system, I thought "Wow, Runescape is really moving up". Little did I know how wrong I was. On November 20th, Jagex placed a 3k cap on all stakes and created a new "Tournament Mode" where up to 64 players can compete for up to 64 million gp. Nothing wrong with this right? Wait...What? :-s A 3k stake limit? You can't be serious? I mean, think about it, staking was a way of life and a legitimate way of making money for thousands of players (the rants section was at 3390 pages at the time of this post). If you think this update won't effect you because you never staked well, you're dead wrong. The effects the recent updates and this update especially will have on the economy are immeasurable. Even f2p is going to be feeling this one :? Thousands have/ will quit because of this update but you know what? The game will keep on going. Those who quit, those who's way of life was destroyed by this update will be replaced by newer, less experienced players who are happy to play the game the older players thought of as damaged goods. The only people who will remember the good old days will be those nostalgic, rich players who can't seem to deal with the immaturity of the newer generation. When those players are repulsed by the newest update, yet another generation will replace them. The only thing left for us stakers to do is to respectfully resign. Rather than implement some creative monitoring, jagex has decided to slight the needs of all types of stakers in an very, very short sighted way. RIP staking 11/20/07
  2. =D> These are the type of responses to the vast majority of Jagex's updates that always amuse me....."ZOMG I don't like the update, you better change it or we are ALL gonna quit!".......right.....allow me to show you the door, there you go M8, carry your lil behind right on over to another game, one less over-dramatic whiner clogging up the game....heres a tip, a lot of players love the game, enjoy dedicating years to developing their character, and I would dare say, it would take a lot, to make us quit. Now for the garden variety nub who has a "main" (lev 58) and a "staker" (lev 34)....who whine and flop about every little thing, threaten to quit when the latest update wasn't catered to their lev 65 pker, staker slacker...etc, we are better off without you. Go ahead and quit, people are signing up everyday, it is a constant turn over...no worries m8, I have a sinking suspicion Jagex will be just fine. They have the top 200,000 players who are dedicated, to keep them going. I could care less if they doubled, tripled or quadrupled the monthly fee, it's just pocket change afterall. Maybe they should, that will keep the riffraff out of the game...go play F2P. you can join the "why can't we get MORE for free?" protests in Lumbry. meh Wow. I would have expected a better response from you. I really don't care if you never stake or pk - it doesn't matter. Anybody can see that this update is [bleep] up beyond belief. A 3k max on a stake that decreases...any way you put it, this qualifies for the worst update in RuneScape history. It serves no purpose. Does nothing but screw up a major section of the game. RWT? -.- Joke. All they have to do is droptrade or find some other way to transfer. Sure, there are always idiots that cry "waaa...you have to take .5 of a second longer to cross the ditch when runecrafting, I'm quitting". This isn't some stupid ditch or some assist system. This isn't some minor thing that some generic kid uses to get attention in some rants forum. And yes, if this one isn't corrected, it WILL screw Jagex, because besides a few idiots that dislike pvp so much that they ignore common sense just for a chance to bash staking, you aren't going to find any supporters for this update. You will find a good chunk of the pvp sector dropping off, though. Get your head out of your [wagon] next time, ok? Oh I agree with you that it seems to be a blow against pures/stakers. I just can't stand the pking staking pures who build their character in under 3 months (I was a well balanced 100 combat in under 4 months, I am sure it sure doesnt take much effort to build a pure when concentrating/training on 2 stats) then run around thinking they are the combat beast pker because they can own a lev 30,40,50,60 balanced player. These are the ones who talk the most smack. I never shove my meager stats down ppls throats until they have annoyed me with their bragging. so....take one part long day at work, with way to many idiotic meetings, mix in a dislike for pker/staker pures, add a healthy dose of ridiculous "rioting" about the new update and finish it with the usual 100 threads whining about it. That is the recipe to my barbed reply, not an excuse, just an explanation  Now, everyone has the right to blow off a little steam, thats what the rants forums are for....rant away....but riot and threaten to quit? Feel free. The less people clogging up the servers the better. Lord Krohn, You're the most pompous, pretentious, selfish idiot I've ever had the misfortune to commune with. To you, staking might have been just another minigame, just another annoyance. But to me and tens of thousands of other players staking was a way of life. Did it ever occur to you that not everyone likes skilling? That there might be a world beyond that rune rock or magic tree you seem to love so much? :-s To me staking is as real a skill as any depicted on the hi-scores. Can you imagine the uproar that would ensue if they'd removed wood cutting? I mean plenty of macroers profit from this legitimate part of the game, right? What if they'd removed pking? Would you be happy to fight monsters all day? You could have told me jagex would do this a few months ago and I would never, ever believe it. Ever... If they can't be trusted with this vital part of the game, if they'll render the hard work, the time, and the sacrifice we put into creating these "stakers" useless, ask yourself, is runescape even worth playing? Krohn, all I can say to you is GET A LIFE. You're 30 years old with several kids ;and you're chasing 99s in all your stats and flaming on the forums? I mean lvl 100 combat in 4 months? May be you should spend some time with your kids before their hatred for you reaches level 10 :P
  3. :? Actually, you see alot of broken pkers trying to hold on to the legacy....
  4. :D I was looking at some videos of the Godswords in action and thought wow, those things are pretty fast and powerful....the question is would they be good for staking, specifically against ddsers? Also it looks like ranged, magic don't stand a snowballs chance in hell against them :D
  5. -.- If you've been to f2p lately, you'll noice that mage is nothing more than a joke. Combat triangle? Pfft....its pretty obvious that someone's "getting owned" when a mage maxes on a full rune pker for 16 damage when that same pker hits a 30 on him with his rune scimitar. As for ranged, its never stood a chance against dds and everyone knows it, having high ranged really doesn't pay unless you hybridize. I'm thinking of changing this thread to "mage is under powered" or some sh*t.
  6. :D I was going to name this topic "Ranged, is it still worth it" or "Ranged the wildy's underdog" but I decided this name would get you're attention better and probaly the attention of the f-mods, but whatever. I've noticed that ranged seems to be the underdog in the wildy right now, what with the God-Sword updates, dds, etc. Jagex has taken some pretty big strides to making ranged equal with the other combat skills , prayer, enhanced crossbows, etc, but it seems that the other skills just seem to do more. :wall: Ranged is also a bit overwhelemed in the duel arena unless you have 4 m to buy a dbow you're going to get messed up by a dds pure who only needed 30k. Ranged is slower to level, and its benefits are alot less aparent so why do we always have to get owned !?!? Lolz... *sniffle* Whining aside, my main gripe with ranged is its representation in f2p. I was one of the few ranged pures in f2p with 81 ranged and it always frustrated me to hit only 13 while my mele based upon cuold hit 20's with his scimitar. Eventually I gave up on ranged.... It seems that ranged is the only class forced to hybridize to get kills, in f2p at least. In my opinion, ranged should recieve ranged potions in f2p. And please, please some kind of update in members . Mage is a little bit under developed as well. What do you guys think? Also I think a new combat skill would be gr8!!!
  7. :? I can see why safing exists in members, death comes instantly and without warning. Even safers are at risk. In f2p however, safing is just disprespectful. Why even bother to pk if you're going to play like that. Some people can't seem to understand that no one is going to hit a 40 on them at 50 combat...as for farcasting, I don't think its all that effective, except at the duel arena...hehehe
  8. :? I was going over the desert treasures quest requirements and i noticed that one of them was priest in peril...Does that mean I have to get 14k prayer expereince in order to finish the quest....?
  9. :? After three years of playing I've finally decided to quit the wonderful distraction called runescape. Why you ask? Well, let me tell you my story. About three years ago, I was fourteen years old, my older brother and I were sent to school in west africa (we live in the united states). After a few months there, I started getting homesick, missing American food, my friends, and especially my family. In America, I felt like I'd been someone. "Here everyone is the same as me. I am in no way unique" i thought. I enjoyed myself most when I was allowed to talk to my little brother. We'd just catch up, and thats the way it was for a few months. Until one day, my youger brother suggested runescape. Our dialup connection was super slow so runescape was the only thing that would ever work. At first, I had so much fun playin runescape with my brother. It was as if our roles had completely reversed. He was the older, omniciescient, all seeing brother and I was, just a noob. Still we had a lot of fun. We would pk together at bandits and he would cook anchovy pizza. We'd work on our pures and i'd help him cart lobsters from kramja (however you spell that). After a while, I was on alot more than he was, he told me he had plans to quit, but I begged him to stay, sucking him back into it. So I continued that way for the next few months, shirking my responsibilities to play runescape. Little did I know something inside me had been changed for life. I remember comming home on the weekends wanting nothing more than to play runescape. Just getting changed and pratcially living in front of the computer... Well, I digress, back to the story. After school finished, I started to spend more and more time in front of the computer, one of my friends even commented that my skin was starting to lighten. he even asked me if I'd "bleached myself". I knew I had no self control but I just coudn't stop. My worst regret? Not playing with my dogs Puppies so that I could play runescape :notalk: . After about eleven months in africa I came back to the United States. At first runescape was nothing to me. I was waay more interested in cable tv (only 3 channels in Ghana). But when school started I began to spend moer and more time online. A year after my arrival, my younger brother quit with me. We gave all our items to a friend and logged out. He never logged back in to play. I did. :wall: . I continued to play for a few months when I noticed that my hair was falling out. I went to the doctors and they told me that I had a scalp infection. It takes 3-6mths to clear up. I thought "What I can't show my face around anywhere). :anxious: So up until now I've been recluced in my house, wasting my summer away playing runescape. :P Three years of my life....gone. And I'm not blaming jagex, my parents, the guy next door. It was me. I chose to waste my time like that. I wasted my life. And I've decided to take it back so on July 25, 2007, I' decided to quit runescape and give away everything I own. After about three years of playing, I have nothing to show. -.- So I've decided to create a day by day blog on my progress. If anyone else is quitting they may post to. Or you can just post in your support. Please, please don't flame. Thanks. ~chib~
  10. :( Lately i've been playing wayyyy to much.... i've prioritized wrong and put runescape ahead of everything (friends, family, studies). Well I've determined to change. :notalk: Anyone else having similar problems?
  11. This is a simple question so i want simple answers!! lol :D
  12. :D Thanks for all your help guys, but a little detail on the crafting would be useful
  13. 20 minutes to 36 woodcutting?!? How do you acchieve thaat?! :?:
