  1. I didn't really look through the rest of the topic to see if it was mentioned, but since I'm fairly sure it wasn't; bank space. This was said to be the most desired item in Runescape on the tip.it page. I wouldn't have thought of it, but it couldn't be more right.
  2. Come on, I need to know what happened to April 0_o
  3. Hey all, my English class was recently writing myths. My original was called Vengeance, and had nothing to do with Runescape, but a friend (Nighthawk) had written something about a new god war. I liked his myth for the fact that he, myself, and a third friend (Starman) were the main characters. I and Starman decided to write myths about Runescape as well. I still turned Vengeance in to my teacher, but I may turn this in as well (might get some extra credit  ). Of Three Huntsmen Prologue to Part I: Introductions This is a tale of three huntsmen. The first was named Panzer (derived from panther) for his animalistic nature. He was well versed in many arts other than combat, though this was not to say he did not know how to fight. In fact quite the opposite, he had killed many a foe, as is required in his profession. Panzer favored balance over good or evil, and had long ago chosen Guthix as his god. The second huntsman was Nighthawk, named for his inescapable dark side and fierceness. He was a powerful combatant, and focused more on that power than the arts of the craftsman. He was know to, on occasion, turn to power instead of even his best friends, and so he chose the darkest of the three gods, Zamorrak, as his god of worship. The third huntsman was called Starman because of his closeness to the heavens, and thus, good. He was definitely not the greatest fighter, or the greatest anything for that matter, but he had abilities many did not. He was able to easily pass judgment on all before him, no matter who they were or how they had lived their life. He had picked Saradomin, god of justice and righteousness, as his god. These huntsmen three were good friends, and made quite an odd trio due to they're beliefs and polar opposite actions and strong points. They were like a holy trinity of the archer, warrior, and magician, and no person or group could defeat them when they were united, which they always had been, until the events in our story came to pass... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Part I: Beloved Peace and Simple Struggles It was a day like any other; Panzer, Nighthawk, and Starman were sprawled on the grass. Panzer was clothed in dragonleather, made from scales the color of a calm night at sea, greenish-brown snakeskin, which blended in perfectly with the earth and plants, and his trademark lucky cape, a cape of bright tan with black spots that always given Panzer a feeling of lightness and speed. Nighthawk was wearing his precious runite armor, ever a shining teal blue, and carried a longsword and kiteshield crafted from the same precious metal. It was heavy armor, to be sure, but Nighthawk's unwavering strength allowed him to bear it always. Starman wore a set of sky-blue robes, reflecting his divine mindset, and held his trusty staff of air, which when combined with the proper magical stones allowed him to cast his spells at enemies constantly and without rest. Panzer sat with one leg elevated and the other resting atop it, arms behind his head and a long, spindly weed protruding from his slowly chewing mouth, which began to speak. "What a fine day this is", he said. "Indeed, I've not seen a day this fine since we took to our farm that weekend two years back", replied Starman, eyes closed and deep in images of days gone by. "Aye, a day like this would make me want to drift into sleep, if it weren't for the risk that the earthly beasts might come to find us for once", Nighthawk joked. The three friends laughed and conversed, all the while remaining vigilant, knowing that Nighthawk's jest may one day happen. If and when it did, none of the huntsmen would want to be caught unawares. When the laughing died down, Starman gave a light sigh and then spoke. "I am beginning to grow bored, either of you want to head into town?" "Sure, a nice day is fine and all, but relaxing doesn't keep a body busy. Let's go", Panzer said, wanting to release his pent-up energy. Soon, they were off, running to town. Panzer ran a bit ahead of the other two, his cape carrying him like the wind. As the group entered town, a smile grew on Nighthawk's face. "Look ahead", he said, pointing at large ring of people viewing a fight in the town's center, "It looks as though we've found something to do, I suppose that's some sort of fighting competition over there." "You'll never change, will you?", jeered Starman, grinning, "Mind always on the fight... Well, no matter; I'm in the mood for a bit of action myself." As the trio neared the human ring, the sounds of support and distaste from the crowd grew louder, and the fellow hunters decided not only to watch, but to take part in the competition as well. Panzer had been chosen to fight a magician named Doro. Nighthawk, a ranger called Zanum. And Starman was assigned to fight a warrior named Javi. Panzer stepped into the ring, as did his opponent. Doro was obviously skilled in the arcane, as indicated by her odd-looking robes. The battle began, and Doro took the offensive immediately, an uncommon thing for a spellcaster to do. She unleashed a powerful spell of fire, which manifested in the shape of a glowing red orb, sent directly at Panzer's chest. What Doro soon learned, however, was that dragonhide is infused with magic, and as such absorbs damage from spells. Panzer took out his best throwing knives, added to them a poison of nightshade and coconut milk he had concocted earlier that day, and threw them at Doro. They ripped through her robes and buried themselves within her arm. Panzer then stopped dodging and running, for he knew the fight was over. Doro attempted to fire one last bit of magic, but all that shot from her hand was a flame no larger nor brighter than the fire atop a candle, and even that weakened her to the point of unconsciousness. Panzer had won. Soon it was Nighthawk's turn to fight, and Zanum was not much of a foe. After seeing the fight before, he had made a weak poison out of the juice from a mildly sickness-inducing berry mixed with water for a liquidy consistency. He added this to a set of poorly crafted javelins he had constructed. When the fight began, he had time only to hurl a single one of them at Nighthawk, and then all of the poor ranger's hope was lost. Nighthawk's runite armor was much to dense to be peirced by javelins of wood and iron. Nighthawk charged as Zanum was bewildered, and stuck the killing blow, a swift yet powerful swipe upward, and then another back down, which easily cut through Zanum's cheap leather, and his thin skin as well. Nighthawk left the ring unscratched, and Zanum left the ring in pieces, never to think he could challenge such an experienced combatant again. Starman's battle was next, and he was confident in his ability to defeat his opponent, Javi. Javi was wearing hard mithril, which he believed gave him an advantage, but Starman knew better. The battle began, and Javi steeled himself and ran wildly at Starman, swinging his shortsword as he went. He felt a blow from his weapon would render his opponent stunned, or maybe even dead. Starman used a weak wind spell. Javi laughed as the ball of air came slowly towards him, but shrieked in horror when it reached his body. Weak as it was when cast by a normal magician, Starman was not a normal magician. He had practiced hos magic with that weak spell, and that spell alone, until it grew so powerful that it could rip the flesh from a man's bones. It did just that to Javi, and the battle ended in that one shocking moment. Only the three huntsmen were not surprised. When it came time for the trio to fight each other in the deciding matches, they did what they always did; they claimed the prize as one and split it. It was a meager amount of gold, but the friends hadn't fought for money, they had fought to keep their instincts and muscles sharp. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Prologue to Part II: Worried Thoughts The next few months passed by uneventful as usual, and times were fun and prosperous. The brother-like group supported themselves by doing what they did best; hunting. In the Feldip jungles, they hunted the spined Larupia, a relative of the lion, by luring it into [bleep]ed pits. They hunted a great horned beast called the Graahk on the beaches of a volcanic island. Most dangerous of all, they hunted a white-furred saber-toothed creature called the Kyatt in the cold, unforgiving northern lands. When they returned to the towns from their journeys into the savage hunting lands, they decided to take life easy until they needed money again, as they had always done. This laze and peace did not last long like it usually had, rumors of another great war between the gods were being whispered between the old gossiping women of the world. Though gossip is wholly ignored in these times, this was a very serious matter. The huntsmen could not help but talk about it. "What if the rumors are true? What will happen to our lives?", inquired Starman worriedly. "They can't be, these are only rumors after all", replied Nighthawk, doubting his own words. "But...but....", said Starman as he wondered how a war would affect the world he knows. It would surely have a negative effect on the our easy lifestyle..., he thought. "So what if war is going to happen? What choice would we have other than to fight in it and help end it?", Panzer questioned, his irrepressible logic shining forth. He couldn't let himself allow an argument to break loose among his friends. "I suppose so, but we prefer different gods, so we would all be on different sides...", worried Nighthawk. A grin materialized on Starman's face. He spoke: "Then we will do as we always have done, we will fight our enemies alone and then leave the contest together." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Part II: Choices and the Spilt Blood of War The next few years were not as easy as life had been so far for the huntsmen; they had to pick sides and aid their god in battle against the other gods. At least, this was the case with the followers of Saradomin and Zamorrak, but the followers of Guthix, god of balance, would only intervene in the battles when the troop numbers of one god's army were much higher than the other's. The fellow friends had found their places in their respective armies rather quickly. Starman used his natural abilities to judge the prisoners of war and choose their punishment. He was also in charge of reviewing new recruits and assigning them their level of instatement in the Saradomin army, if they made it past his watchful eye directed at their past. Nighthawk rose through the fighter ranks in the Zamorrak army as he killed more and more of the Saradomin followers. It was not long before he had his own group to command, and used it well to devastate the forces of the enemy in many battles that went down in history, or, they would have, had more of the scribes and historians (who had all aligned themselves to Saradomin) survived. This role fit him perfectly, and he jumped into the fray out of pure bloodlust many times. Panzer had adopted the task of a poisoner, sneaking around in the cover of night and [puncture]ing the neck of the enemy troops when it was time for the numbers of the war to be balanced out. He mixed many a deadly potion, from ingredients such as hyacinth bulbs, crushed oleander leaves, and the rosary pea, a single one of which can kill. Panzer was also employed in his army to spy on the others, and found out what his friends had been up to. He was happy with how Starman had been keeping himself busy, but he was less than pleased with Nighthawk's penchant for violence. Panzer was worried that Nighthawk may go back on the old ways of happiness and choose to finish the war alone instead. He alerted Starman to this possibility with a series of anonymous notes, which got Starman worried, too. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Endgame When the final days of the war approached, the numbers of remaining followers were severely low, as was the vitality of the gods themselves. The time was coming when the huntsmen were to do as they had always done, and end together. Nighthawk had seemed to have forgotten all about this, and was more concerned about supporting his god than joining his friends in conquest. Soon, the number of troops were so few that the duties assigned to the ones that remained mattered so little in the grand scheme of the war that many were being shirked. Nighthawk was the only one of the trio that still performed his tasks. Meanwhile, Panzer and Starman had reunited and abandoned their allegiance to the gods due to the terrible things they had seen the gods do. Eventually, they met with Nighthawk on the battlefield. "Nighthawk!", Panzer yelled. Nighthawk did not answer. "Do you not remember us?", Starman asked. Nighthawk did not answer. "What's the matter? Surely you still hold true to your friends...", Panzer commented, prepared for the worst. Nighthawk did not answer, but took up his sword. Instead of turn on his companions, as Panzer and Starman had expected, Nighthawk threw his sword like a spear straight into the ground. His immense strength allowed his thrown longsword to cut through the ground as a pit [bleep]e does through the body of a Larupia, and it proceeded downward. The sword went further and further into the earth until it reached the underworld throneroom of Zamorrak and traveled directly downward through the evil god's spine. The sword only stopped when it hit the core of the world and melted, not from the intense heat, but from the speed and power with which it had been thrown. "I do not want anything to interfere with our fight, not even the gods", Nighthawk announced darkly. "You can't be serious? We are friends, we can't fight each other", said Starman. He knew the war had changed Nighthawk, but he hadn't realized the change was this serious. Nighthawk payed Starman no attention and flung his kiteshield like a boomerang off to the side. It was not long before the shield found it's target, and slew Guthix with a single hit to the head. "What has happened to you!? The gods have done terrible things, yes, but who are you to kill them!?", shouted Panzer, forgetting his sense of emotional balance. Again, Nighthawk payed his friend no heed. He took a chunk of rock off of the ground and threw it upwards with a force so great it shattered the sky along with the god of justice and righteousness. The huntsmen two knew what had to be done. Panzer placed a poison on a single arrow and shot it through the dense runite armor directly into Nighthawk's tainted heart. To their surprise, this did not kill Nighthawk, or even cause him pain. Out from his chest fell a small, [bleep]y looking demon, impaled on a poisonous arrow. "Um...where am I?", asked Nighthawk. Starman was all too happy to answer. "With friends." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Epilogue: Godhood With no gods left, all that could ever live were these three mortals. This was, of course, unacceptable to the planet. The world gave these three huntsmen the title of gods and all the powers that game with godhood. Panzer became the new god of balance, Starman the god of judgment and righteousness, and Nighthawk became the god of evil, on the condition that he never allow himself to kneel to darkness again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hope you all liked it :) , any suggests for changes or improvements? I still have time to edit it before I turn it in.
