  1. While on a slayer task to kill Kalphites, I stumbled upon an interesting little tunnel. I checked the map of the Kalphite dungeon and saw no indication of a tunnel. Curiosity got the best of me and I tried the tunnel, which led to the Agility and Slayer Dungeon outside of Dorgesh-Kaan, just a short way from a ladder next to the entrance. This struck me as something that could be of great use for getting to the Kalphite Queen, eliminating the need for the first rope and waterskins and replacing a Shantay Pass with a light source. This would allow for more inventory space per run and teams could get Dorgesh-Kaan spheres as a quick way out to resupply between the two forms. [Crew edit: we do not seem to have a map of the South Slayer Dungeon, where this shortcut and the fairy ring and other stuff would be shown. Hopefully one of our mappers can take this task on.]
  2. I could almost cry I love it that much. I doubt the general RS populous would catch the reference though. Back on topic: I think the general reason why you can't teach the beggars how to make money is simple: They probably know how they COULD make money but it would take too long for them to do it. Though I doubt they really get anything for the time they waste begging anyways.
  3. I guess my post will break down to cover a few issues: 1:Attack priorities: When I train range, I usually can beat anyone using melee, but they usually are in a bad position. Mage has one of the most unfair advantages for first strike, though: Cast [damage spell] > then wait for the spawn and click. This bypasses the need to right-click and select the attack option for monsters higher level than yourself. 2:Training: I started really getting into range recently, mostly because I have high defense from melee training and can deal with leaving safe spots. What I really enjoy is accuracy and max hit are both related to my range level, where it gets split when it comes to melee. However, there are drawbacks. As with most training, when it comes to good xp, there's usually a crowd. I find I have to be less kind sometimes if I want to get my kills. Be it to someone using melee, magic, or range. 3:Combat triangle: People often see range as being overpowered over melee, but this is not entirely true. When using a safe spot, a ranger may be able to take out someone who fights using melee, but generally the melee armor offers better range protection bonuses than range gear offers to melee protection. Further things that factor into it are the overall combat stats and equipment.
  4. As a previous cannon owner, I will admit I had fun with it for a time. If you really want to get yourself put off of using it, make a new account and go to the rock crabs in Relleka. That is an almost guaranteed way of putting yourself in the other people's shoes, filling you with an uncontrollable rage towards all cannon owners that would make you want to sell your cannon immediately. *I'm probably exaggerating the details a bit, but if you ever have to put up with someone else that uses a cannon, you probably will think less of it.
  5. Personally, I've never seen it in-game. However, there is one thing that annoys me. Public displays of affection, they aren't generally appreciated in real life, and it gets really agitating in-game as well. I've noticed it generally at the fishing guild. A couple would be following each other, usually for 10+ minutes. Then, one of them has to go somewhere, so there has to be a 3-minute exchange of blow kiss emotes. Unfortunately, little talk is involved in these, so the ignore list isn't really an option. Even if it is a real-life couple, it seems a little... over the top. Something a little off-topic: My wife is the one that got me to play runescape
  6. Oh yeah, that makes sense. Let the evil forces all get together to take out Zamorak? You seem to be trying to recreate the events that led to Zamorak becoming a god, which was not accomplished until he was banned from Gleinor, which is also why the Gods left. The gods would not return, because they still existed on Gleinor when Zamorak defeated Zaros. Now that they have left Gleinor, they would likely be able to prevent anything from getting to that extreme. So congratulations on your fail.
  7. Well, it does seem that in being new, I also got to be ignorant. Everyone who decided to post on this thread without reading a word of it, you get a giant serving of FAIL! Probably the only way to make people actually read what I write is to type everything out backwards. That way everyone would have to take a minute to read it before going off and assuming. If you don't read anything before posting here, I wonder how you ever level ANYTHING in runescape, because you obviously lack patience. If I edited the title, it might help, but what good would it do now. Thanks for the giant flame war thread that I pretty much asked not to have happen.
  8. I'm sure everyone's seen at least one, they almost always hang out at the G.E. Beggars. Some are just outright asking for handouts, others try to be more creative. I'm sure there are a number of people out there who legitimately lose money by having their account hacked. However, as many people as I've seen claiming to have lose large amounts of money, I find it hard to believe they are all being honest. Players who announce how much money they lost from being hacked repeatedly, very suspicious. Unless, maybe someone with a kind heart feels sorry for these poor victims and then these "victims" get free money. While I am sure there is no way to stop people from doing this, I am sure it is disheartening to many players, especially those out there who actually have lost money from being hacked. If you had that much money to lose, how did you get it in the first place? Hard work and honest playing, at least if you were being honest, that would be the case. I wonder how often this ploy actually works? I doubt it would be anything spectacular, so why do people keep doing it?
  9. Point taken. However it sounds like it could be used as a sob story in some cases, like those "I lost [insert insane amount of money here] when I got hacked" people who just lie so they don't sound like they're begging when in reality, they are. But that would be for another topic. I guess this one could be locked or deleted now, as the crash has been over for a while now.
  10. Well so long as it's a rare occurrence. As I mentioned, I was at the Blue Dragons, which is usually a hot spot where competition is common. Anything that makes you lose your spot gets annoying.
  11. As I'm still relatively new to the game, I expect this isn't an entirely uncommon occurrence. I currently cannot log in on my favorite world, but somehow there are players on it? If anyone can clarify for me what is going on I would much appreciate it. EDIT: I realize that this may not exactly follow rant format so let's tweak it. I was in the middle of fighting a blue dragon when I get the connection lost message, then can't log back in. At first I thought it was my internet, but when I reloaded the page and went to log in again, world population had been replaced with OFFLINE. So I wait, and wait, and wait. When I saw that there was a world population with numbers, I tried to log in again, but was still getting the login server is offline message. How did people manage to login?
  12. Well Maggie may have disappeared from F2P, but wouldn't you be able to get it back from one of the witch's that helped you enchant it? After all, they ARE friends of Maggie. Don't really know for sure, but thought I'd at least voice the suggestion.
  13. All is fair in love and war. Pking will always have devious underhanded tricks that people hate, why? Because they work! When you go into PvP, you put your life on the line, so anything to survive should and IS to be expected. If it doesn't work for you, then time to look at your strategy and adjust. Many would consider my methods a variation on one-itemers, but it tends to get me more kills. Then again, level range has another factor on effective tactics.
  14. I understand that some members get annoyed when anyone F2P asks for something more. I just would prefer if they didn't always respond. After all, what intention does someone P2P have if they visit a sticky called "Why can't F2P have..." but to start a fight? Edit: Didn't realize my RS Type doesn't show up, I am a P2P as well, so for those who I thought I was a whining F2P, SURPRISE!
  15. Browsing the forums, and in particular the rants section, I've found that it seems there are a lot of clashes between the players who get to play for free and those who pay to enjoy more. These arguments arise almost instantly after an update for P2P only or after an event where P2P gets a small bonus. It is generally a small number from both communities that stoke the fires and get threads turning into ugly arguments. In the end, both communities take a loss. Those for P2P will sometimes see all F2P players as whiny and greedy. Then the F2P players who get bashed about wanting anything when they don't pay may see P2P as arrogant and rude jerks. Understandably, these are only a small fraction of people from each gaming community. However, why does it seem necessary for a fight to always break out? There's usually more to each person's motivation to be free to play than you may know. Not everyone who is P2P pays for themselves. The younger community of those under 18 who cannot get a credit card are often funded by their parent/guardians. This funding can sometimes come with a few conditions, such as maintaining good grades in school or doing household chores. Perhaps we should all try to come together to put an end to these petty squabbles that turn threads into eyesores.
