  1. Hello, I've purchased from your Fishing store before. I was wondering if your company would be willing to accept a Running contract? I would be glad to discuss pricing of the run and salaries of the runners if so. (in addition to the standard compensations of a Run, i.e. Runes+Reimburse Essence). It would also allow multiple members of your company to work together (since the more runners running, the faster the xp rate).

March 11 - sciencemile/SciMerkin - 2000 Cooked Monkfish - 370k gp Need to stock up for my Spring Slaying supplies <.< So where exactly do you pick things up at, anyways?
  3. I think Christmas is still a good time to "buy in" to the rares trade; since people who invested in santas during the off-season with expectations of making a profit during the holiday season are going to want to cash in on their investment, opportunities to buy into the rares market are relatively plentiful even though they're more expensive this time of year.
  4. I see your points, I guess then it wouldn't be as significant an influence as I suspected then.
  5. Only for that player. That gold he's getting isn't coming from an NPC, it's been given by the person making the purchase, with gp that was already in the game. That's a very important thing to remember; a person can increase his wealth, even though he's decreasing the total amount of gold pieces in the economy (and gold pieces are how people express their demand for an item, and demand is one of the determining factors on price, the other being supply). Likewise, a person can decrease his own wealth, while still increasing the amount of gold pieces in the economy; example: Alchemy and High Alchemy. -- To better illustrate what I mean, let's say that in the entirety of runescape there are 100 people, each with 10m in gold pieces (not in total worth, but in actual gold pieces). That means that the total number of coins in the economy is 1b coins. One of these players manages to get a rare item valued at 8m by the economy. He also expended 2m gp due to needing to recharge his weapon. 1. Upon spending that gold, it leaves the economy, and the total amount of coins in the economy is 1998m coins 2. Despite one player now having 16m in coins and another player having only 2m, the total number of coins in the economy has decreased overall. --- So, to summarize; The amount of gp in the game increases only if the transactions being performed increase the number of gold pieces that can be possibly spent. A transaction with another player does not do this. An item drop does not do this. A gp drop does do this. High Alching does do this. Selling items to npc shops does do this. You are not "converting something into gold" by trading with another player; you're exchanging your item for their gold. No gold has been created or destroyed in this transaction.
  6. Do you recommend a specific one?
  7. That depends on whether or not the high-level players are generating lots of Gold Pieces, or just lots of items valued at high prices. They may not personally be affected since they can sell their drops, but it would be reducing the total amount of gold pieces in circulation. A Dragon Visage it not equivalent to its G.E. Value, nor is any gold created when it is sold to another player. The only way it would add currency to the economy would be to alch or loot/coinshare it.
  8. The most reliable merchanting strategies have the downside of requiring long periods of time. For instance, since it is summer, the majority prices of fish are going down. The wise choice would be to invest in one of these and then sell when the prices inevitably rise back up. of course, the aforementioned downside is that this takes months of waiting. ------ There is also the idea of putting offers into the market for rares which you know have a much higher street price. Those without this knowledge or the inclination to find buyers will sell on the GE occasionally. Finally, there's the speculation market of noticing trends and reacting to them, which doesn't have as clear-cut of rules as the above two. ----------- Of these options, I've only done the 1st (purching 40k monks before I took a break in summer and selling them off when I came back in winter), and the 3rd (I merched Strange Fruits, Tin Ore, and Prayer Potions)
  9. Wha? Are they stopping to harvest every single resource possible? Yeah ._., I used to do this. Dungeoneering sucks for the Obsessive Compulsive.
  10. Not sure if it's been mentioned before, but another big part of the crash might be the fact that Chaotic Rapiers/Longs, being the best weapons around, are creating giant moneysinks? For people who only play long enough to get enough tokens to buy it, it takes 2m out of the game every time it needs to be recharged.
  11. It wouldn't cure inflation by reducing the amount of currency? That's what causes inflation, an increase in the amount of money relative to the quantity of goods provided. You have more money to spend, so you can generate more demand by offering more money for a service, thus driving the price up. With less money you can't bid as high, and the price goes down.
  12. I got an idea! How about sales tax on G.E. purchases? For every 1% value of the items you're buying (rounded down), that amount is added to the list price, and that amount is "taxed" (taken out of the game). Same with selling an item, you get 1% less back. Constant money-drain proportional to the amount of gold being thrown around, and gives a slight incentive for people to trade off the G.E. if the item is high-ticket. For example, according to the GE: 4,900,000 units of Green Dragonleather was bought and sold today at the average price of 1,938 gp. This means a total of 9,496,200,000 gp was exchanged. At a 1% Tax on both Consumer and Supplier, this would amount to a total of 38 gp per unit being taken out of the currency, and 186,200,000 gp would be drained in total for that day. If you aggregate all items, this becomes a very effective drain. Perhaps too effective, and we might have to lower the percentage.
  13. I guess that's what the trapdoor in the Grand Exchange was; a shortcut to Keldagrim O_o >_< too bad I don't have 61 Hunter, ah well.
  14. Perhaps an Achievement Diary for Keldagrim? If so, it'd either be legs, amulet or...a Keldagrim Pickax :o
  15. @#99 Melee >.< yeah, I have a hard time remembering which one means "% rise in price < % decrease in demand". It'd be Elastic then, I think.
