#5589898 PSA: TeamViewer issues (possibly breached) be wary when using for 'scapin...

Posted by Kimberly on 03 June 2016 - 03:03 AM

News articles:

Official statement denying breach:

As of right now the official statement from TeamViewer is that everything is fine. It's unlikely any vile individuals will give a rats ass about Runescape players, but I know quite a few people who use TV to play on their mobile phones. (especially old tipiters) The reddit thread has recommendations for other programs to use as alternatives, though I'm unsure if they'll serve the same purpose for mobile playing.

Note to mods: While this is more pertinent to Tech and Computers, for visibility and RS account security's sake I'd urge you to leave this in GD.

#5586526 Jagex to be acquired by Chinese mining company...

Posted by Kimberly on 16 March 2016 - 03:34 PM

I want to cry.

Every game I've ever played that was passed into the hands of these essentially strip-mining (no puns intended) companies has gone down the shitter in a massive way. I really sincerely hope this doesn't go through, but I've resigned myself to cancelling my subscription at the first sight of ridiculous shit.

#5584732 What happened to these forums?

Posted by Kimberly on 12 February 2016 - 07:31 AM

Was I always a fountain of sunshine? No. Was everyone on the team? No. Did the staff interact with the community in positive ways? Yes. Did they work on behalf of the community because they cared for it and shared a common fondness both for the site and the game? Yes.

I watched people come and go for years, bringing both good and ill to the community. I watched mods discussing policy, dealing with some really vile people, trying their best to keep a place for reasonable discussion without being as harsh and demanding than the official forums or other places. I watched crew work tirelessly on site content, bringing some really amazing tools and guides over the years. I watched the community praise great updates and simmer in irritation for bad ones, with debates in between on the virtues of each passing update. I took part in helping train batch after batch of new mods, as did many other moderators, and trying so hard to find people who were willing to step up to the role of either moderator or crew. I watched as TET worked their asses off for a small group of people, making fun events and grand times, until they were disbanded. I saw the creation of the monster hunting team, where members still labor to take people to popular boss spots. I saw some really creative writers and thorough editors take place and produce content for the Tip.it Times. I watched as clan staff made tournament wars and ranking systems for the fledgling group of clans that briefly called Tip.it home. I watched as people posted research and findings, data and amazing hard work, that left an imprint on the greater runescape community as a whole before they went to create their own site to further their work. I watched people cheer on Paperbag's exp race, Suomi's 5b in all, and all the competition in between. Topics that tracked the f2p community, that discussed prices, that laughed and joked over more normal things in the Off Topic boards, and so much more.

If you were offering just a personal impression, I wouldn't have bothered with this post. Everyone experiences everything in different ways. You're entitled to a difference of opinion. But you're not, are you? You're saying, flat out, "This is what it was. This is all it was. This is what happened." as though you were actually there, seeing things you in no way were able to see without actually being a part of the community.

#5583942 25th January 2016: New Skill | Invention

Posted by Kimberly on 27 January 2016 - 04:21 PM

I originally didn't train on release out of sheer laziness.  Now, I'm extremely glad that I haven't. But with volatile the changes have been post release, I'm honestly terrified to start training the skill.

It's crazy, with how connected everything is nowadays you'd think a local hobbyshop would be able to special order them for you or something, the shade you wanted.

Me though, getting by. Dad had luck with his case so things have eased up. And you?

Merry christmas year.

#5580289 Chronicle is out.

Posted by Kimberly on 27 November 2015 - 12:28 AM

It's in closed beta, but the subreddit has a megathread where people are kindly helping others play by giving away their extra beta keys. One kind fellow helped me get in today.

Not sure how I'm liking the gameplay so far. It's great, but it burns sometimes having so few opportunities to react. Each Legend gets so many actions before the next planning stage and there aren't a whole lot of cards available at the beginning that allow you to interact with others besides just doing plain damage. I'm hoping as I unlock more cards and pick up a few more basic packs, that'll change.

Anyone else trying it yet?

#5576890 5th October 2015 - Virtual Levelling | Ninja Update

"Free players can now participate in the Burthorpe Games Room. More games for all!"

Lol, why bother. Does anyone even visits that place anymore?

The sad thing is that it would have been a really good update if it came out a decade ago.

A decade ago I don't even know if Burthorpe actually existed. I don't even know if it was ever that popular to be considered 'good', even to members way back when. I'm all for not starving the Free to Play base but that's a bit hyperbolic don't you think?

#5572336 Will it ever get fixed?

Posted by Kimberly on 21 August 2015 - 12:17 AM

No one is defending Jagex by telling you you're wrong. Are you so arrogant to believe your opinion on the situation is the only truth? I don't care if you're 10 or 50, your arguments are inherently flawed and it is ruining the only reasonable premise (Jagex has broken the game with its direction) you could lay claim to.

#5572317 Will it ever get fixed?

Posted by Kimberly on 20 August 2015 - 10:58 PM

Well here is a little more for you then. Why is it that my fruit tree plants other than the Gnome Stronghold take two days to grow now??

Disease ticks still extend how long it takes to reach fully grown even if you have a gardener watching it.

So if you put it past the weasels that own Jagex to purposely screw something up to try and get players to cave into the garbage that they really want then you have your head stuck in the sand.

You honestly don't know what you're talking about. Cool I get that you're pissed, you paid for a month's membership and you have certain expectations. Bowling in here like you're bigger than the mountains throwing down gauntlets of "truth" (when really they're misinformation at best) as if it makes you some messiah to sufferers of Jagex's [bleep]-ups just shows how childish you're behaving though.

Go cool down and come back later. If Jagex's game state, which will always prioritize EoC over legacy as they said when they rolled it out, still pisses you off this much then cancel your membership. You are completely within your rights to do so, hell it's even laudable to do it. But [bleep] off with this "HUR IF YOU CAN'T SEE THIS YOU'RE BLIND WAKE UP SHEEPLE!" bullshit. Many people here have been witness to Jagex's blunders and triumps while your voice was still cracking as you answered your teacher's questions. Don't direct your anger at fellow board posters when it's Jagex you're really mad at.

#5572175 Runescape Money Making | 900k+ per/h | 95% AFK | 500k Exp/h

Posted by Kimberly on 20 August 2015 - 04:59 AM

900k mill/hr doesn't make sense and seems deliberately misleading. From what you said in the video it barely reaches 900k/hr, let alone "900k mill".

Surge/Barge doesn't prevent you from being PK'd. You underplay the role of pkers and don't even touch on avoiding them.

Volume balance is way off. Your into is crazy loud but then around the minute mark the music drowns out your voice only to fade back out shortly later. This happens throughout the entire video and it ruins the guide.

The "95% afk" is also clearly an arbitrary label you've slapped on for clickbait because what you demonstrated was pretty click-intensive.

Can't stress this enough: a 15min sample size isn't enough to judge whether or not the method achieves the gp/hr and exp/hr you're advertising.

Some good points though, your script delivery was pretty good. You spoke authoritatively and didn't have a lot of "uh umm uhhhhh" that so many people do. Keep working on it!

#5571943 17th August 2015 - Patch Week

Posted by Kimberly on 17 August 2015 - 05:31 PM

At least they follow the usual procedure of ignoring it for 6 months, then fixing it when it's too late.

But they fixed it a week after it launched originally...

The gauntlets were FoG rewards and were obtainable in f2p.

Last week with the FoG update they moved them off FoG onto monster drops.

Mid-last week they mentioned in the stream they recongised they'd messed up by putting the f2p gauntlets on p2p only mobs and they'd put them on some f2p drop tables.

This week they are added to f2p drop tables.

No stop it my rhetoric nooooo

The quest release batch must have had a LOT of other patch content that they could not release without pushing out the quest as well. This must've been all the stuff they could do on the fly.

Interesting how this has worked out.
