Request an Image Host

10 July 2012 - 01:22 AM

As part of our recent forum upgrade, we have added a filter that only allows the posting of images from specific image hosts. The reason we made this change was not to inconvience you, but for your protection. Without the filter in place it was possible to host an image on a private website and harvest the IP addresses of everyone who loaded the page with that image on it. Because of this we decided that the extra security of whitelisting image hosts was necessary when we gained the capability to do so with the recent forum upgrade.

We have already added most of the major image hosts to our whitelist and are constantly watching for more safe hosts that people regularly use to add to the list. That being said, we don't think of everything and there might be an image host that you want to use that we just don't know about. If you have an image host that you would like us to look into, please post it on this thread and we'll take a look. However, we will NOT be allowing personal websites for the reasons listed above.

New Website Design Open Beta

14 November 2011 - 11:01 PM

A couple of years ago now when we upgraded the forums, and got a nice pretty new skin for them, some of you probably wondered why the forum skin didn't match the website design. It generally looked (and still does look) a lot more polished and up to date than our aging website.

The reason for this was simple, the skin designer didn't pull this out of his head, he designed it from an early website redesign put together by us.

That was quite some time ago, and we decided that if we were going to create a fresh new look for the website, we should also probably code everything from scratch as well, and get rid of many of the unnecessary files and code snippets we have hanging around on the current website. We wanted to do lots of other things too, like making the URLs more friendly, and introducing more social networking aspects.

So the information you're actually probably reading this post for... the URL, and here it is:
http://open.tip.it

With the "open" being for our "Open Beta" which is what we're calling this stage of the launch. We'd like you, our users, to test drive the site, reporting to us any bugs you find, along with your feedback on newer features or changes.

You can report bugs to us in The Tracker. This allows us to easily keep track of your bug as it progresses through to being fixed. There is also a new forum in which you can discuss the website. You should avoid using the Tracker for this, as it is strictly for bugs only.

Also, I can't possibly post this without giving credit where it's due:

Coding Team

Soon you'll also be seeing some Developer Blogs/Behind The Scenes posts revealing how and why things were done the way they were!

Have fun on the new website!

Please use This Thread for discussion.

How to Report Bugs

14 November 2011 - 10:51 PM

To help organize the various feedback and bug report that we are bound to get with this new design we have decided to separate bug reports from feedback so that our coders can prioritize fixing the bugs that need to be handled most quickly!

To report a bug, head on over to The Tracker and select either 'Coding Errors' or 'Design Errors'. Don't worry if you can't figure out which one it is, just pick one and we'll move it as needed. After that post a new issue and give as much detail as you can. Links and pictures of the bug are very helpful in reproducing and correcting bugs. From there just post your issue and a crew member will check it out ASAP!

Thanks for all your help getting the bugs worked out and for all of your valuable feedback! :D

[Readme] Site Updates Temporarily On Hold

15 October 2011 - 03:55 AM

Hey guys,

Just giving you all a heads up, with all the recent chaos our admin tools are not quite back online yet for the main site, so we won't be able to do any content updates for a few more days. Please by all means continue posting submissions and we'll comment on them, but we won't be able to make any changes to the site content right away. I'll delete this thread once we get our editing tools back online and we can get back to updating again. :)
