  1. Happy birthday :D

  2. Happy Birthday!

  3. quite simply put, a bicicle helmet with some pvc or plastic tubing added lol void ranged looks like a lacrosse mask oddly enough... go figure...
  4. finally after the last layer sets apply what is called a gel coat of resin (applying a coat of just resin to get rid of imperfections) once the gel coat has set you can do details (such as the feathers on neitiznot) with a dremel and prime it afterwards paint as necesary helm complete!
  5. the platebody i belive i've covered but is along the lined of either fiberglass or bondo over a layered base of cardboard sewn to a leather or strong "shirt" the legs being similar but a series of plates rather than big solid peices helm of neitiznot is very fun to do... start by getting a cheap helmet... real life crafting is about 10% finding something awesome... i frequent the dollar store and goodwill for interesting stuff start by making a base for the helet from whatever hard helmet you decide to use... if you can get a skull cap and plaster cloth this will be significantly easier (put plaster cloth over the cap on your head in the base shape of the helm and let it set) if not, when in doubt use cardboard and plaster (if you use this method you'll basically be making a sculpture of the helmet to fiberglass over after you have your base apply fiberglass in strips over the helmet, start on one side and finish the opposite way once the side you just finished sets. this is important for structure if you want a strong helmet. after the first layer be sure to add more plaster as needed to ensure the optimum shape... finally add your last layer of fiberglass and let it set
  6. alas, it seems the popularity of this thread died with the forum changeover... i'm still going to keep helping people with costume/ item ideas
  7. thats a tough one... depends on how much you want to spend... if you want to make it for under $50 i would get: fiberglass tape paint sandpaper of varying degrees of grit junk scissors gloves cardboard a balloon a large tube of some kind and a light/sound board from a toy... if it lights up and makes a boom it's perfect... tape the balloon to the large tube, glue your cardboard "flat spots" to it, cover it with a layer of strips of fiberglass, then let it set after that add a toilet paper roll (with glue) and one more layer in larger strips and let it set, then put a "gel coat" of the resin on the cannon and let that set... it helps to work on paper so you can sand it off after each layer sand the cannon to the desired smoothness... wipe down with a damp cloth and apply primer... then using the paint of your choice spray it down and detail it cannon complete! just dont take any damage yourself... i hear firemaking helps with that... finally
  8. hahahah i do not support steroid use but a real life strength potion would possibly be a mix of ginger, ginsing and guarana... and maybe some dragonfruit... the resulting concoction makes a pretty darn good smoothie and is packed with not only alot of vitamins and minerals to support the energy boost from the ginger, ginseng, and guarana and the fructose from the dragon fruit... basically it's like an energy drink in concentrated form... minus the heart problems... amulets are best made with some sort of resin poured into a mould... for the mould a hard clay, sanded version of the amulet pressed into the softer clay for the negative should make a mould but make sure it dries before you pour in the resin... after the resin sets (about a day is good) sand it to a nice shine and paint
  9. thread is still running! get your answers here in time for halloween!
  10. i put max workers on flax and the rest on maples... you get way more money this way and you get the extra profit of the nests...
  11. hahahah well i don't have the magic level to do that! maybe i neeed to make more tabs...
  12. how'd you get out of 4chan? hahahaha yes... we are all asking that question... more pics should be coming up soon!
  13. hahah well for those worried about cosplaying, you get nervous at first, but theres always a fan! i have little to no inhibitions when it comes to costumes but the errr... "kilt" from the bandos armor was akward to run in! but then i realised that more than half of the people at the convention played runescape and almost all of the people loved the costume... the cosplay and anime community is very accepting of any costume! ================================= wab for the godsword (or any sword)... carboard and bondo! use a wooden dowel and cut out the outline of your weapon to the length of the dowel you want to use... then cut a notch in the carboard in tthe shape of the dowel... the cardboard should be two or three layers and should be bonded with gorilla glue... to fill in the dowel hot glue or gorilla glue works fine... after you have the general shape bondo the living daylight out of it and let it set for a few days... sand it to the desired smoothness filling in any voids with more bondo if needed and letting set... then paint with silver spray paint or krylon x-metals and sand lightly with 120-340 grit sandpaper (personal preference) then apply the final color by applying acryllic paint with a gloved hand or a paint soaked sock and after it dries apply a clear coat! as for the handle electric tape with spray paint on it seems to work, for a more detaled look some tightly wrapped twine works well too... make sure you gorilla glue the hilt before you start wrapping it so the string dosen't slip! ===================================== Mungo0 the mask appears to be just a cloth hood (like a loose ski mask) with a headband made out of light cloth... the top is a skin tight black shirt (underarmor works fine) or a thin tight turtleneck the shoulder and breast plate could easily be made with a regular light american football shoulderpad with one pad ripped off and maybe some bondo/cardboard/fiberflass extension... or just fiberglass over a cardboard mould! the left arm would be a skintight sleeve with a band to keep it in plce sewn to a glove and the right arm would just have a strap from the glove to the sleeve the leggings appear to be loose black pants with shin guards sewn on and a thigh guard on the left leg with [bleep]es and a band on the right leg the boots can just be spray painted and acryllic-ed bargain boots!
  14. Paw_Claw hahahaha well thats awesome! i'm just trying to get a normal budget type of idea... that seems a tad expensive... but the computer animation should be no problem if you have the right program! ============================================= bballer sew clear plastic sheeting (like shower curtain material) to the form of the robes... spray lightly with gray spray paint.... Go outside and avoid police.... ?????? PROFIT! ======================================= stormveritas i would personally just paint one of those toy talking parrots black and strip some of the fur from it (mainly the skull area) though it would look more like a zombie parrot... which is 10x cooler! ======================================== Mdeoxys yup! i have the boots done now! very uncomfortable to run in lol rs armor is not comfortable at all... ========================================= DenUsynlige hmmm well i haven't made them in a while so bear with me... wild pie has some odd ingredients like bear so we'll substitute it with either beef stew cuts or venisson, chompy we'll substitute with turkey or or chicken breast (turkey preferred), and rabbit is wel... rabbit! if you can't get some rabbit either go to your local elementary school and do a gmaul spec on their class pet with a sledgehammer or go to your local supermarket and get a very lean type of beef (rabbits have almost no body fat!) i basically substituted most of the beef (about 2/3) in this recepie for the alternative ingredients http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/aust ... index.html i like that particular recepie becuse it has a very good savory taste when you add the turkey and the rabbit... not that i'm lazy or anything but recepies for pies aresortof universal... summer pie again, using an apple pie recepie but substitute 1/4 of the apple with a bottom layer of strawberries and two pie crusts for the strawberries and watermelon, sautee some strawberries and some watermelon in a pan and let chill, then blend some strawberries and some watermelon (no seeds) and mix about 1/2 cup of it with 1/2 cup of sugar and about 3 cups of water... do not boil but simmer the mixture, stirring occasionally until it becomes "thick" in consistancy... add this mix to the chilled sauteed strawberries and watermelon and let chill now get out your pie dish and pour the mix into the bottom... cover this layer with crepe paper or pie crust and then pour an apple pie filling over it... canned is ok but this recepie worked well for me (use your favorite! i prefer red delicious for a very sweet pie) http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Apple-Pie-I/Detail.aspx apply your second pie crust to the top and bake according to the recepie in the link... whipped cream or strawberry cream cheese is amazing with this pie and i honestly love making it! mud pie is one of my favorites! make about two boxes of chocolate pudding and one box of butterscotch (i used actual peanut butter which is amazing in this pie!) a bought desert pie dish is fine, put a layer of butterscotch puddng or peanut butter in the bottom of the pie crust... then add about halfway with chocolate pudding... add a thin layer of whipped cream and then add chocolate pudding until theres about 1/8 of an inch of space left... crumble peaut butter cups and oreo cookies in a blender or crush them with a wooden spoon and add as a toplayer... PIE COMPLETE! ================================================= smellysocks thats a green cape with computer effects lol
  15. Mike_Ike111: i was actually thinking of making something like this for my dragon armor set for anime boston next year! though the lava dosen't move, a patchwork of LED blinking xmas lights would work fine if implanted into the cape! make your cape by sewing pockets of yellow (semi shiny) fabric to a black thicker fabric with the inside of the cape spray painted red after a white primer is applied... this will make your basic cape... the LED xmas lights would be hard to get this time of year except maybe online... as for a power source a 9v battery with a small converter could work if you intend on incorporating the animated element... other than that xmas lights with a battery pack that outputs the correct current should suffice! =========================== Lielac skillcape is my favorite thing to make and i just shipped out another hp cape (thats like... number 23... for hp capes... *sigh*) the skillcape is actually going to be part of my web seriess and takes far too much info to post here but i will post when i'm done with the video! as for the ringmaster hat... get a fedora... a cheap one... or expensive... Goodwill is an amazing place to find them... and clamp or tape the edges according to the ringmaster's hat in the game... after it is clamped/ taped either wet the crease and use a blow dryer on it, use a steam wand or other steaming device, or use a kettle of water (non whistling will help) and then let the hat sit overnight in a dry warm place with the tape or clamps in place... continue until hat is creased to desired angle... IMPORTANT! the fedora is a backwards ringmaster hat! make sure the hat is backwards when you craft it if you're going for realism... it can be made the other way but it dosen't look "right" now, either get hatting grade felt or glue red fabric to both sides of a stiff plyable material (posterboard glued together and trimmed with a razor works fine!) (gorilla glue works best) glue the material to the new creased brim of the hat... taking your time to hold or clamp the material to the brim ad wipe away any excess glue... cut the after the glue dries let it sit for at least 3 hours then apply red and black paint where applicable (acryllic works well with fabrics) last but not least, apply high strength glue to base of white feathers (seagull wing feathers when washed, dried, and hand fluffed work fine... and insert between the hat and the trim... HAT complete! ============================================ Grasle i thought of making this! don't ask me to model this antime soon... i'm not as tan as i am toned... this is more of a tutorial costume as well... i may make a video for this one too... and do ome parkour tricks in it? ============================================= Erichermit the real challenge isn't making the cape... it's getting all of the blinking lights in a small area... a car battery or extension cords would be my other option! lol ============================================= Pinkbullet3 you should see my crate at my local storage facility... i think i have it in the bag... any of you ladies want to buy some samus armor for $2,000? lol ============================================= twiley you called me a professional! *eats humble pie and heals 12* hahah yes... i make quite a few cosplays... i'm working on cross marian for AAC in november (another anime convention) and a mix of sub zero costumes through the mortal kombat series for halloween! ============================================== lovepanda86 ooooh why didn't i think o tha.... oh wait.... viewtopic.php?f=16&t=807314 :
