RuneScape Information

  1. Grimy herbs were already released as of August 2007. [Edit:] My bad - looks like September 2007 they were released. Can't wait for tomorrow! I'm going to try to go nuts on the quests.
  2. You've got a small chance to get a rock every time you harvest something. So the best way to get a rock quickly is to farm the allotments because you can harvest a lot of crops, giving you lots of chances to get a rock. When I was trying to get farming rocks I'd just do a farming run of all the allotments - harvest both allotment plots, the herb plot, and the flower plot, and plant them with whatever seeds I happened to have. Doing a run of Catherby, Canifis, Ardy, Fally, and Trollheim, I usually would get both rocks after 3 or 4 runs.
  3. Jagex changed their pricing policies a while back when they upped the prices. I think now when your membership runs out you have like a 14 day grace period to renew and keep your current price. After that, you'll pay the new price ($7.95/month U.S.) from then on. It used to be, if you maintained membership for 12 consecutive months, they'd put you in a lower paying tier. But Jagex did away with that policy not that long ago. So now once you are in the new tier of pricing, there's no way to go back and get the old price. So, no, the only way to keep your current price is to continue paying for membership. And don't quote me on the 14 day thing either; it might only be 7 days or something. The details are on the rs website somewhere.
  4. Inb4 runescape ends up looking exactly like WoW.
  5. The normal rule of thumb is to start doing real floors when you unlock abandon 2's - that is floors 30-35. Some people wait until lvl 69 for floor 35 while others start as soon as they unlock floor 30 at lvl 59. The reason for this is that pretty much no one on the normal dungeoneering worlds/teams do large floors before floor 30. Everyone rushes c1 small floors for 1-29. I would also recommend starting to do some actual dungs before you start dunging with a team. If actually training dung instead of using lamps on it, rush smalls all but maybe your last 5 floors. For the last few, do c6 mediums solo (or duo if you have a friend willing to help). Always make sure every floor you can unlock is checked off before resetting your prestige. Be forewarned that the official dung worlds are full of complete idiots. You're much better off dunging with some friends or a clan. If you can get someone who actually knows how to dung to teach you the basics, that will help immensely.
  6. There really is no way to trian dungeoneering fast at a very low level. The best thing to do is use xp rewards on it, especially ones that aren't tied to your current level (e.g. quest rewards, early bird special xp, etc.) If you can rather quickly get even to lvl 59, you could probably buy leech floors from that point on. Quickly rush through c1 small floors for f1-29, then buy a leech floor for all your abandon 2's and occults. This will cost a ton, however. If you have a friend with high dung lvl, they may be willing to suicide for you/help you get fast floors. Dung training is very slow at first, but rather quickly gets faster the higher level you are.
  7. I highly recommend penance for bossing. Any time you're taking significant damage penance will be a big help on conserving prayer. One of the best things about penance is it also works with overload damage, so drinking a dose of overload also restores 100 prayer points. Vampyrism is another arua that I really like - it's especially great for slayer tasks. I've found that I often don't even need soul split or eee for the occasional healing when I'm using vampyrism. I've purchased a number of auras, but those are the two I've found I use the most.
  8. Personally, I like the hood, especially for puzzle rooms where it can sometimes save you a lot of time. If there is no mage, you often only have to kill a couple monsters to make the room "hood safe." This can be especially helpfull for rooms like emotes, etc. Something else to consider is that a lot of people bind hoods. If you're the only member of your team without a hood, all the monsters will focus solely on you in non-mage rooms which means you're probably going to have to pray anyways, making your plate much less useful. As has already been said on this thread, it's much easier to get a new plate than to get a new hood. So, I'd recommend binding hood and using it for a while (at least one or two full resets) and then making up your mind.
  9. I've saved up a bunch of dung tokens, and I'm thinking about getting one or more of the dung shields. Which shields are useful for which bosses? I'd like to know the best shield/off hand weapon to use at Bandos, Sara, Arma, Zammy, Nex, DKS, Corp, and the Fight Kiln. Assume I have access to all weapons and armor, except no Nex armor or spirit shields. Any other tips on the dung shields are welcome.
  10. If you want a mix of ivy and magics, you can cut them at the Varrock castle. I sometimes wc there. You can cut your own magic tree for a little profit and cut ivy while it regrows. This is obviously not the most efficient, but for me, I don't really care about fast wc xp while I'm watching tv or doing something else. Cutting magics require very little attention, but they give very little profit and not very good xp either.
  11. I definitely wouldn't bother with range at your level. I didn't find range very effective even on the mages, and I'm 96 range. I did the whole fight kiln using just rapier and polypore staff. I meleed the rangers and maged pretty much everything else. If I were you I'd take fully gano + arcane stream and pps for maging, then a fury/glory + some barrows top, bottom, and helmet and rapier for melee. If you're doing it on the cheap, a blessed spirit shield is probably good enough to use the whole time without switching. I went with barrows gloves, d boots and soul wars cape to complete the ensamble. I would probably take a tortoise with supplies and summon a uni later, but that's up to personal preference. Definitely take EEE for the spec and dreadnips are highly recommended. I found that I mostly used only prayer renewals through the first half of the waves or so. I by far needed the most healing on the boss just because it took a long time to kill with pps. I hope this helps, and good luck with your attempt.
  12. You can run a full load of oak logs using the balloon from castle wars. You just have to keep your weight low. The weight limit is around 40kg, and a full load of logs is somewhere close to that. I did it in the past wearing just jewelry, a cape, and the boots of lightness. You can use other weight reducing gear like the spottier cape and the agile top and bottom as well.
  13. I was wondering how useful the penance aura is, particularly in (solo) boss situations. How does it compare in usefulness to Reverence/Greater revernece? Also, if it matters, I don't have any nex armor or spirit shields, but I have access to pretty much every other armor/weapon in the game. Any stories of personal experience with the Penence aura would be appreciated.
  14. I don't know for sure, but I think frosts are better money. They're certainly a more consistent money maker. DKs are fun, but a lot more dangerous than frosts. I would not recommend trying to solo tri-brid on your first trip; a lot people die at DKs before they get the hang of it. And you absolutely do not want void at DKs - you will get torn apart. You start out getting hit by strong range, mage, and melee all at the same time. The basic strategy is to pray mage, have very high range defense, and freeze/tank/kill Rex quickly. Anyhow, you have the stats to tri-brid, but there a good sized learning curve for DKs, and much greater risk. Frosts will be a much safer and more consistent source of income for you. You could also consider solo maging Rex. That's a lot less dangerous, but your income is primarily going to be based on getting ring drops. Just my two cents.

    Kamil

I don't know if they've changed it, but there used to be a big rock just before Kamil appears. If you set your cannon up next to the rock you can hide behind the rock to avoid damage and let the cannon do all the work for you.
