  1. Agreed danq, losing turkey is a shame, but this could become an increasing trend; Losing good tracks, for more affordable boring races. Autosport delved into this issue, showing that very few races actually have secure futures, with alot left hanging at the moment, due to increase in costs made by bernie ecclestone with a lack of cuts to keep GP's that cant afford them, with doubts hanging over: Australia, Spain (Barcelona), Canada in a few years, Nurburgring needing cuts and under pressure from "greens", Belgium, Japan somewhat secure but more longterm future is very uncertain, Korea and possibly India depending on how their first race goes.
  2. Lets hope that works, would do anything rather than watch it on SKY, and if it's live then the action should match the commentary, because they all see the same screens.
  3. Great so it'll cost me an arm and a leg just to see the other half of the races live, the way I like it :/ I dont think theres much in point in watching highlights, I only like seeing it live, plus I like seeing it all the way through, experiencing every single lap in full, not seeing the best bits filled into a 1 hour timeslot later at night when I should be sleeping, this really is a pain in the ass and it isn't gonna go away, with the deal already signed theres not much that can be changed, and there seems to be little opposition from the teams. We can only hope that a clash in the concorde agreement forces something to change, though I'm doubtful of that happening, and after all this I am pretty much sick of Bernie Ecclestone, and reckon it's high time he were out of a job.
  4. Bernie for me is a greedy businessman, he just wants to make as much money as possible, even if it means losing great races (The Australian GP has been under threat due to money woes), and losing the free-licence broadcasting that, as you said bloodangel, can attract up to 10 million viewers per race. That will NOT be sustained under the new deal between SKY and the BBC, with Sky's ridiculous prices and a lack of broadcasting sure to affect the BBC's viewing figures. It seems as if BBC aren't really to blame for the deal, really we should be thanking them for managing to keep half the races on the BBC, with them commiting to showing highlights of the races on the very same day, which is a small silver lining to Bernie Ecclestones greed, if it is he who has forced the BBC into this detrimental deal.
  5. Ove £20 a month! What an absolute joke, I will not pay that kind of money for crappy sky coverage ¬¬ I am super disappointed in the people who agreed this deal, taking F1 away from free tv, they're are going to lose a large chunk of their audience, because alot of the people who watch F1 I imagine watch it casually, they aren't big fans who will watch no matter what, and they wont get sky to keep seeing F1, they'll just stop watching. I mean, I'm a massive fan, I get up at all hours to watch the races and will cancel things to see the races live, and I'm contemplating just giving up on seeing the races :/
  6. Agreed darkdude, absolutely dreadful decision on BBC's part, their coverage of F1 is the best, way better than ITV's and probally will be better than Sky's. Well i'm going to struggle to keep up with F1 from now, I absolutely love F1, onlu thing I really watch on TV, and tbh if I cant see half of the races live, then theres not much bloody point for me, unless I can get my grandparent to record a bunch of the races cuz he has sky, but that is a big hassle for him, and I will not waste my money on terrible sky coverage, when all I want to see is F1, not bloody football - If they come up with a some kind of special package just for motor-racing or something, then I may consider it, but otherwise I think I might just lose interest in F1, which is a shame because I've been a big fan since I was about 9/10 :/
  7. That was a fantastic qualifying, the most exciting of the season so far, lovely to see Lewis so close to Mark, and lovely to see that vettel is down in 3rd. Best of all, it shows that in terms of pace, its very close which it hasn't been for awhile, but very unfortunate to see Jenson struggling so much down in 7th ><
  8. dear Rafftank,

you have voted against the rules of the political poll thread (in OT). Please read the rules and recast your vote. Thank you.

  9. The championship is almost certainly done and dusted now, Vettel is just too far ahead, with too much speed, reliability and consistency for anybody else to realistically stop him from taking his second championship. Obviously I'm hoping that this isn't the case, but I can't see how the 80 point gap can be turned around in 10 races, especially given Vettel's form. It's certainly more a question of when, rather than if, and I'm thinking Vettel may win it in... India? Japan maybe?
  10. Happy birthday :D

  11. TBH I used limewire quite frequently for the last 5/6 months, and never experienced any of the problems people have mentioned such as viruses. I found Limewire always easy to use, and as far as I know haven't recieved any viruses, and I only used because I needed to get about 300 songs, which would have killed me to buy >.<, although now I buy in smaller doses so the shutdown isn't too disastrous for me personally, but there are still plenty of other means of illegally downloading music, such as torrents and youtube converters :/
  12. Wow, I think im a hardcore F1 fan O_o I'm staying up for the quali, going to bed, watching the race then going to concert all day, getting back later, and have school in the morning O_o. And on top of the that I have been at a party for the last 5 hours >.< I am gonna be worn out on Monday, but for F1 it's worth it ;)
  13. Interesting start to the Japanse race weekend. Red Bull seem to have some mad pace, and if we get a dry quali and race they should be on pole, and possibly lock the front row, and have good enough race pace to be very dominant, although alot can happen in a race. The obvious ace in the pack so far is the torrential downpours that have managed to cancel qualifying for Saturday, and forced them to be postponed to Sunday Morning, 5 hours before the race. This is annoying for me because I was up at 5am hoping to see some qualifying action, especially with rain, it could thrown a very interesting grid order, unfortunately there was way too much for F1 cars, even the safety car was starting to drop it on some corners at low speed! :wall: The general idea now, is that it will be damp for the start of qualifying with rain continuing into the night, and no cars or sunlight to clear the track of the dampness, but it is expected to be cleared and that there won't be any more rain on Sunday. I have been looking on several Japanes weather forecasting sites for Suzuka, and the idea I get is that the conditions are very changable, and therefore it is very difficult to perdict, but there could well be early morning showers, with more in the afternoon during the race. Considering the outlook for the weekend, it will be a massive dissappointment to me if the rain holds back, and red bull dominate the proceedings, as I will feel somewhat robbed of a potentially exciting weekend, but time will tell...
  14. Still too hard to say definitively who is "out" of the fight at this point, it is still way too close to count anybody out with 4 (maybe 3 :S) races left. The points gap from Webber to Button is only one race win (25 points), which last year would be 10 points, not enough to count anyone out of it. I think the Mclaren's have been claimed as the team that would drop out since Belgium, and have only lived up to it through misfortune. Button dropping to second in Italy along with being shunted out by Vettel in Belgium, and of course Hamilton retiring 2 races in a row, they both could be right up there with Webber + Alonse, if it weren't for stupid mistakes (By them or others *cough* vettel *cough*). But this is F1, and that's racing unfortunately :/ Based on points, its too hard to tell who could win this year's championship. Based on form, I would have to agree somewhat with Webber/Alonse. They are both very consistent, and very fast. Vettel has made many mistakes recently as has Hamilton, and they are destroying their chances all on their own. Button in the meantime has been having some consistent results (2nd in Italy, 4th in Singapore and would've been on the podium in Belgium imo). Alonso imo could drive all the way to the chamiponship very valiantly, with the recent flood of form and speed, but I think he will have some misfortune soon, he does still have the problem of his engines, having no new engines left, and having to use old ones for intense races. Webber is the only contender who hasn't finished outside the points in the last 5 races, and has been conistent and fast, so I would hedge my bets with him, although he will have a tough job with all the contenders being very quick (He was out qualified by ALL the contenders in Singapore). He is a driver I admire, and would LOVE to see win, although I would be happier with one of the brits winning (particularly Button). I beg that Vettel or Alonso don't win, Vettel has effectively taken out title contenders twice, and harmed their chances and has earned no favour from me, and Alonso seems like an arrogant idiot to me (after what happened in 2007 with Hamilton)
  15. Button had a fair amount of damage to his car from the first chicance collision with Alonso, which actually tore off his left rear-wing endplate, wish surely would've have hampered him. Also the announcment of the pit-stop over the radio was ridiculous, that for me was what lost it for Jenson, and it annoys me that he drove his best, with a damaged car, did everything he could and lost it possibly due to team error.
