Hello everyone, I had this problem too, and here is what I did: Removed the Java installation Downloaded the offline version of Java from here: www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp I'm running Vista so I also turned off "Use User Account Control (UAC)" found via Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts. After this Windows MUST be restarted. After restarting I disabled my internet connection Turned off any and all anti virus, anti spam bot anti spyware and so on software Installed the offline version of Java Turned anti-everything back on Ran the Java test found here: www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp In other words: When Java is being installed anti this-and-that software can block and thwart the installation of Java.
