Elite Monster Spawns

Battling Gielinor's ferocious beasts is more exciting and more rewarding today, with the chance to spawn elite monsters.

Elites have a chance to spawn on the death of others of their kind, with one guaranteed spawn and greatly increased chance per kill when you take on a matching Slayer assignment.


The following monsters can now spawn elites:

Harpie bug swarms
Earth warriors
Cave horrors
Dust devils
Infernal mages
Dark beasts
Greater demons
Abyssal demons
Please Note

Edimmu elite spawns work as before, although they no longer despawn if there are no other players in the area, and remain for 30 minutes if not killed – longer than the 10 minutes that other elites will remain.
Also, elites will not spawn in the tutorial, if the Path System is active, or during Rush of Blood.
The spawn rates and mechanics of elite rune dragons are unchanged.

You'll recognise an elite by its unique name, and – if you are the player who spawned it – a special animation. Elites are initially protected: attackable only by the spawning player for three minutes, or until the player moves a significant distance from the elite, if sooner.
You can find out how long until an elite is attackable by clicking on it. Once the protection ends, the animation plays again, for everyone nearby. Then, it's fair game for everyone.
Elites are tougher than their brethren, and most have special attacks that make them extra challenging to fight.
The rewards make it worthwhile, though, particularly for slayers: an elite kill grants you 220% Slayer XP compared to a regular kill, if killed while on assignment.
The elites listed above will also give three rolls' worth of loot from their drop tables – including three chances for summoning charms.

Training Slayer is ever more compelling with elite spawns. Have fun, and let us know what you think over on the forums.

I just got 91 Thieving, and want full ibis to make future training easier.


Supposedly the Sceptre of the Gods ramps up chances of getting ibis a ton, and it also looks nice.


How many engraved sarcophagus lootings on average does it take to get one?

Keepsake Key - Indecision

I recently bought a keepsake key, but I'm not sure what to use it on. The options are:

1) Keepsake Static gloves.
2-4) Keepsake Glacor boots (only one pair though).
5) Keepsake Necromancer robe legs.
6) Save the key for two months, buy another, and keepsake Necromancer top and robe legs.
7) Keepsake Obliteration, the staff from the Crucible.

I cannot decide. Please help!

While we've unfortunately had to delay the launch of the new Members Loyalty Programme and Solomon's General Store update, we still have some new content for you to get your teeth into.
We've been continuing with the improvements to the New Interface System from your feedback and a number of those are now live along with various bug fixes.
  • An option to allow click through chat boxes
  • Access to the function keys (F1 to F8) for custom keybinds
  • Reintroduction and slight revamp of the old split private chat system
  • More compact interface layouts due to:
    • Improved spacing in list style interfaces (such as your inventory or ability lists)
    • Reduced border sizes
    • More border transparency options
  • We've also now made it possible to position many of the interfaces without the need to enter edit mode.
These improvements are ongoing and your feedback is incredibly valuable to us in helping shape the direction of the New Interface System. Please continue to let us know what you think and thank you to everyone who has given their feedback so far. To submit your feedback, visit the NIS forums.

The Battle of Lumbridge - Week 6

With the Sixth week of the world event comes a new set of changes and additions to the fight:
  • Saradomin's forces have voted for the chance to spawn an additional special unit, giving them twice the number of champions on the battlefield. The Zamorakian forces have voted to increase the effects of their special units by 50% making the healing effect of their champion more powerful.
  • Both factions will be able to vote on new reinforcements to the battlefield. They can choose between the mighty siege units, powerful creatures that bombard the battlefield to destroy the enemy; or elite units, mighty warriors with a chance to stun the enemy in an area around them.
  • Members will be able to vote on what war beasts will guard Lumbridge. They can choose between the brave and loyal guard dogs, terrifying and deadly spiders, or they can decide to give the rats a chance and train them for war.

I have enough plant-thingies to make one of the coronets, but I don't know which.

Which one looks the prettiest? (pics would be greatly appreciated, though not required)
