Runefest 2013

25 June 2013 - 05:37 PM

Hi all,

We wanted to let you know as soon as we had a date and location organised for RuneFest 2013. So here it is!

When is it?

2nd of November 2013

Where is it?

South-East England in the United Kingdom (Most likely London)

More information will follow in the following weeks regarding the ticket price, venue and the activities at the event. We're planning some extra-special surprises, but want to work with you on what those things will be. On top of that, we’re thinking of new, exciting ways for the whole community to be involved with RuneFest 2013. Look out for more event news soon!

We’re all really looking forward to seeing you all and meeting some new faces. Dust off that Nomad outfit and re-stitch that skill cape. RuneFest is back - better than ever!

Glad to see it's in England, I will probably go :D

The War against Bots Continues

27 February 2013 - 02:27 PM

We recently introduced the next phase of our anti-bot technology Botwatch, and it's already showing its teeth in the battle against botting activity in RuneScape. Last night alone, we conducted a mass ban of no less than 20,000 gold farming accounts. This is a huge blow against gold farming, and you should see the difference in game right away. These new anti-bot systems aren’t limited to gold farmers, however - users of 3rd party clients and botting software are also being aggressively targeted by the newly updated Botwatch.

Of course, this is just one victory in the ongoing war against botting. Our zero-tolerance policy stands, and we won't rest while botting and gold-farming exists in your game. It's an ever-evolving race, but with hard work and the support of the community, we'll stay well ahead of the game. We're already working on the next phase of anti-bot tech, which we're looking forward to rolling out over the coming months.

The RuneScape Team

I checked a few common spots last night when I heard about this, and frost dragons and green/blue were both almost completely clear. Seems like it's had at least some impact. Hopefully it won't be something that'll get overturned in two weeks (and not just because I have 300k frosties :P)

Void & Slayer Helm

23 January 2013 - 08:09 PM

Does anyone know exactly what void does for each of the 3 styles in the EoC?

Does anyone know what bonuses a full slayer helm gives on task in the EoC?

Thanks in advance.

Dragon Age 3: Inquisition

25 December 2012 - 01:32 AM

This won't be out for a while, but figured I'd make the thread :)

I'm a huge Dragon Age fan, Origins was one of, if not the, best games I've ever played. I spent several hundred hours on it across various playthroughs.
Dragon Age 2 I wasn't so keen on for various reasons, but Bioware have listened to a lot of feedback (and sales figures...) and are planning to make the next game more like DAO, so I'm moderately excited about it again :P

There's a newspost here which has a little bit of information on it.

If you're really interested there's a recording of a Pax East panel here which goes into a bit more detail (ignore the video title, it's about DA3 in general)

Finally there's the Bioware Social Network here if you want to see what some of the developers and writers have to say, or just join in the speculation :)

Well Known RWT'rs banned.

17 August 2012 - 05:01 PM

Today we have banned several high-profile accounts from the dicing scene.

We can happily confirm that the ring leaders found to be involved in selling RuneScape gold have been banned. Their actions have directly funded a sizable portion of all real world trading activity within the game, led to increased macro use, and resulted in huge surges in spam advertising.

Such actions are strictly against our rules, and all accounts have been wiped and permanently nuked.

This should serve a clear warning to anyone else engaged in similar activities; expect more bans of any continuing offenders.

We have been finely tuning our new anti-cheat and anti-hijack tools over the past few months and are now steadily bringing these systems online in select areas. This is part of an on-going rollout that will be completed over the course of next two months. More good news will follow in due course.

Some of you may already have noticed that we have started cleaning up the high scores over the last week and this will assist us in being able to re-introduce relevant gold farmer free F2P high scores again. Posted Image

As far as I'm aware, this includes only Win All Day and Stokenut so far. Whether other well known dicing and staking rwt'rs are banned remains to be seen, as there are considerably more just as bad and worse than those two. At the moment it feels like a publicity coup to me by just banning the YT famous ones.

F2P hiscores is fantastic news.
