#5418094 17-Jun-2013 - Your Feedback Implemented!

skip to 1:50 ish
Something like this is an example of kk being stupid, we stunned it too much so it couldn't attack anyone, so it healed 24k, then did green next attack on me instead of tank, he voked it and tried to run out of room, therefore bypassing damage from it, but was off by a few squares, it then swapped to mage phase, but I ended up dying anyway in the end. Something like that's very rare though, and I really didn't expect it to happen :/

The KK is such a clunky and glitchy boss. I really don't like it.

I miss the old combat system. It had its flaws, but I enjoyed it a lot more. I hope they will put it back someday.

It's been around eleven months since the EoC was first put into beta, and it's still an unbalanced mess. It brought some good things, though. Like super potions for range and magic, Anguish and Torment, new range and mage armor and some other things.

Soul Split heals you for one life point for every ten damage you deal.

Did some runs at Automatons earlier, and void with dual drygores allows Soul Split to keep up with the damage received.

Overall, I think you could see the "nerf" to SS as a buff. You hit above 2,500 very often with drygore weapons, so you get more healing in return now, than you did before the update.

I like the change, and am glad they removed the cap. I hate it when they put a cap on something. That's poor balancing, IMO.

#5393428 16-Apr-13 Duel Arena: Go Forth and Duel

Posted by Leon S on 16 April 2013 - 07:53 PM

I hope hex got buffed to shortbow damage again, but it's sad to see there is no special effect (at least I presume they would have mentioned one).

Sometimes people mention random things like this and it is always the same person and no-one else seems to have any idea wtf is meant to be wrong.
So what exactly is 'broken' on mage prayers?

Everybody knows what's wrong with them, or at least anyone who keeps up with these things >.>. Latin mentions these things because he knows and cares a lot about magic, and because he's been one of the first people to note the bug and report it. Naturally he's going to be upset that Jagex manages to ignore the issues that affect class balance the most, and he's not the only one. The whole Duel Arena update is completely trivial compared to 10% dps loss for magic as a whole. In fact every single update since this bug was added is trivial in comparison. It's not very good for Jagex' record that they never ever manage to fix these bugs in time - magic (leech) curses were broken for ages pre-EoC as well. Any caring player would be upset about this, not complaining that people mention it. We need to spread the word a bit, or nothing will get done.

I was not complaining that people mentioned it; only that the only person I've ever seen mention it is Latin and I've never seen anyone actually say what is wrong with it. I mean I read near everything here and I skim RSOF from time to time and literally not seen a whisper of this other than Latin mentioning it.

I'm not the only one. Here, plenty of threads of people complaining about it.

What's even worse; this bug is known by Jagex. Emilee has posted in one of the threads, saying the issue was still awaiting a fix. She posted that 2/3 weeks ago, and they're still broken.

And other people just don't pay attention to stuff like this and can't be bothered to report it, it seems. When I made a small post about it in the Screenshots & Videos topic, someone refused to believe me and basically told me I was lying.

I just really hate how Jagex is dealing with these things. Pre EoC, when leech curses were broken for all Magic spells (save for polypore), they didn't get fixed until the EoC. They were broken for almost a full year, and multiple JMods made comments that they were working on a fix, but we never got one, until the EoC rework. And now it seems they're doing the same thing again. Bugs like these are pretty big. I bet you that if melee prayers were bugged, they would get hotfixed within a week.

Anyway, mage prayers will hopefully get fixed with the next combat update, which is due for late april. That would mean Magic was at a pretty big disadvantage for almost two months. Great job, Jagex! You sure know where your priorities lie...

I didn't know they changed the amount of targets Burst/Barrage hit? Since when?

You can pile npcs..

Your spells are still limited to hitting nine targets max.

Posted Image I give up. Spend five minutes at a training dummy. Get a critical hit with any ability w/o Torment, then do the same with Torment. You'll see it yourself. I'm done.

In case you were wondering, Magic now works very much like Ranged. Spells are like your ammo, and staves have their own weapon damage now. Spell damage scaling seems to have been fixed too, which is good. It now simply scales with one damage per level.

Metamorphosis still boosts damage by 25%, not by 50%. Wild Magic now hits twice again, for up to 219% spell damage each.

But, unsurprisingly, there is a new problem now. Magical prayers don't affect damage anymore... Lol.

Basically the entire quest was as follows:

A) Super-duper Hype as the "most important quest ever" and a GM quest.
B) Strip all requirements, and all the requirements that would make the narrative self-consistent and logical.
C) Pitifully short quest.
D) Add in some cool looking guys for a few fights, that always works!
E) Minimal lore.
F) Throw in some of the best rewards ever on a quest whose difficulty clearly does not warrant it. That will always shut up the naysayers: more rewards!

Forget the delay of last week, this could have been released in place of that Kharshai teaser -- the effort there was not such that it would require all this time. Also, why wasn't Kharshai involved; they completely forgot about him.

I enjoyed the quest, but the effort there was clearly not to standard.

Edit: This was the latest offering in Jagex's crusade to basically make everything ridiculously easy and serve it on a platter for the kiddies.

Minimal lore?

Before the eoc magic was dominant, now it's melee.

When was magic ever dominant?

The only way you could ever compete with the best melee weapons using magic was with full virtus, wolpertingers and Storm of Armadyl. Other than that, magic might have been usable or even powerful, but it was by no means dominant except for maybe very short time periods before melee got a new weapon that obliterated the previous magic strategy.

I agree, though, that suggesting EoC fixed the combat triangle is laughable. What we have now, in pre-EoC terms, is Storm of Armadyl changed to Fire Surge but dealing 5 more damage, the Chaotic Maul hitting at dart speed with a +600 strength bonus and a new whip that hits at twice the speed and ignores any and all defence.

EDIT to add that on the plus side, EoC has made it vastly easier for jagex to fix these flaws. Before, they needed to balance everything really carefully and come up with niche special attacks. Now, all they need to do is tweak a couple of numbers.

Magic was ALWAYS the best after ancients. Magic could even beat ranged.

In PvP, yeah. It was almost always worse than Melee and Ranged for PvE, until we got Storm of Overpoweredness and the polypore staff.

Here's my suggestion to make Strength, Ranged and Magic more valuable.

Right now, you only deal 1 damage for every Strength/Ranged/Magic level. Most of your damage comes from your weapon. It's almost useless to level your, say, Strength past a certain point.

My suggestion is to do the same what they did to Constitution. For every level, you deal 4 damage, up from 1. Weapon damage scaling will be toned down.

Here's how weapon damage scales per level currently:

Fastest weapons: 9,6 damage
Fast weapons: 12,25 damage
Average weapons (1h): 14,9 damage
Average weapons (2h): 22,85 damage

How weapon damage would scale afterwards:

Fastest weapons: 6,6 damage
Fast weapons: 9,25 damage
Average weapons (1h): 11.9 damage
Average weapons (2h): 19,85 damage

DPS will still be the exact same, and Strength would be worthwhile to level again :)
