#5379032 A community divided

Posted by Donnie on 12 March 2013 - 12:43 AM

The nostalgia wore off on day 1. I'm still playing 07 because it's more fun. There's no obligation to go beyond level 60 in most skills and I can have fun with PvP at any combat level.

Maybe its just me but it feels the same as 07. I loved 07, bots, scammers, lurers and [wagon] included. The gameplay is what i missed, and the community is what I missed too. I'm not sure what people imagined it would be, but to me it is 100% the same as I remembered.

I stroll into W1 every now and then and it seems like theres just a mass of lvl 30 merchants who do nothing but trade to each other (and the occasional actual player who enters the crowd). Its probably good money but its basically about being the most pushiest [wagon] in the crowd to make it

Actually the scroll thingy is just indicative of all sorts of outdated interface mechanisms in RS2007. For people who are accustomed to 2013 (which most of us are) that can be a big hurdle. From having to go to tools for 'run', not being able to press tab for replying to PM's, and a whole host of other things, it's certainly annoying. When the whole premise of the game is to spend countless hours grinding, that can make a big difference. I don't support a separate development team, but that's one thing Jagex should have done: streamline and modernize the interface.

*hiss noise*

No one is freaking awesome for playing Runescape. Fact.

I had my suspicions about this back in the Zezima days but now that someone has maxed out. I agree.

That said Andrew is pretty awesome for making Runescape.

I personally don't want it to hit 500k either. I don't want updates. Because if you put it to a vote people will vote for GWD and other updates. That will kill 07scape, coming from an 04 player this is as modern as I would want runescape to be.

But the lack of additional cost would be nice.

#5368575 "I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice

Posted by Donnie on 18 February 2013 - 12:46 AM

I'm basically saying that "mental maturity" and not being considered a "sexual being" despite having gone through puberty is a societal construct, resulting from many many centuries of stigmatizing sex and making it sound way more important than it actually is.

risk of pregnancy in uncommon cases is what it comes back to.

Which is why people like Verizon compare it to driving a car. He doesn't understand why he feels such strong negative feelings about it. But he does hold strong negative feelings - to the extent of comparing it to a machine that can cause death and injury if improperly used.

If he looks deeper into why he is feeling that way it is "I do not like childhood sexual contact because of the risk of potential pregnancies with individuals have no capacity to care for a baby, and beyond that they have no capacity to understand the enormous responsibility that it is. Therefore reasoning with such individuals conventionally would be a fruitless affair and we ought to stigmatize it to solve this dilemma"

I'm sure you can agree with the reasoning but you would probably disagree with the conclusion. But you have to understand the drive to do so, discouraging or even demonization of the behavior is an easy way to achieve the desired results. Stigmatization is an easy solution so it is the most commonly used one. Is it still appropriate now that we have birth control? Probably not, but it will be a long time before societies default mode of dealing with this problem starts to change.

Jagex obviously had suomi wait till the 21 so that the poll will be over and they can announce RS2007 LIVE at his 5B xp party. The poll is a sham, the project has already been completed.

I say it because if challenged in their beliefs, they'll retract within their own community of fellow value-sharers and come up with an answer that allows them to maintain the morale high ground without waiving their values.

This is true for ALL humans. Regardless of the belief system.

Semi on-topic, I told my ex that the porn star in my class was flirting with me (and my ex claims to be one of those hippy-dippy open minded liberal college girls) and I could practically feel her hate-face through a text message. I would have loved to see her face twist in confusion in person. See cause while she likes being all-accepting, she hates it when A) girls flirt with me and B) girls use their body gratuitously for no reason.

Because that girl is a threat to her. She is insecure that you would reject her advances if push came to shove. Girls who are promiscuous are ostracized by other girls because they are seen as a threat. Thats why even liberal feminist girls will trash talk another promiscuous girl. It goes back to the goals between the sexes. A women hits the evolutionary jackpot if the most productive/successful member of the group chooses her and stays only with her. A man hits the evolutionary jackpot by having sex with as many women as possible and not fully committing to either of them. That said I think that your girl friends reaction is her biology, which supersedes ideology.

It would be hilarious if they released new skill early February just as he was about to max all skills...

They will either do that or have a front page congratuations...

In the fine print... new Solomon store stock to celebrate this occasion.
