  1. Not true. A huge part of WoW is it's community, as things like guilds, raiding, and pvp at lower levels all have huge communities both ingame and on separate forums. I meant the fansites. It's obvious that guilds have websites as it's just easier to communicate with a guild as a whole when you use a website. But it doesn't have communities like tip.it really. I mean you could argue that Elitist Jerks, Wowhead, and Thottbot are kind of like it, but they're also very different. I don't think WoW has a website that influences the game as much as sites like Tip.It do on RS.
  2. I shall be the first to say this: Jagex, this is dumb. I don't see why people care about the history of RS that much...it isn't so interesting....plus I doubt that the novel is very well written. I'll pass, lol.
  3. Haven't read the whole thread but I'm going to post as I play both. Comparing the games is a bit like comparing apples and oranges. Both are fruits and that's about it. RS and WoW are both MMOs but that's about all. RS has a really strong focus on making a character and sticking with that character for a long time because you have TONS of things to do. It involves tons of grinding and doesn't require teamwork or even your full attention for the most part. RS can be either based on combat, skills, or both since you can do ALL skills at once. WoW is more focused on getting one character to 70 (which can take as little as a week depending on your skill and how much you play) then doing your weekly raids or whatever, then working on another character. Pretty much the entire game is team based and requires tons of attention. It's extremely combat based. You can only have 2 primary professions at once and raising them takes basically no time. (I did 1-375 mining [that's maxed out] in one day) Another gigantic difference is the role the community plays in the game. Runescape's community (including official forums and fansites) is pretty much vital to the game's success. WoW's community barely extends past the official forums (aside from a few fan sites...but none hold the kind of lnfluence that a site like Tip.It holds on RS) which are mostly a spamfest of people from 4chan. :S Comparing them is rather silly because they're totally different and honestly aimed at different people.
  4. Yeah I'm pretty sure that it means absolutely nothing at all other than "hey we have new graphics."
  5. I have Iban's staff... do you? I lol'd. :P Plenty of items there are supposedly only one of exist in many players' hands. It's this way in RS and in many other games. It doesn't mess with the story at all. :S
  6. I think it's very likely that blood and soul altars won't come out just because it would reduce the market for them greatly and that would upset a lot of players...especially those who use barrows for income. All good barrowers realize the amount of cash you make off the runes you get from there ends up matching or even outnumbering the items. Plus it would drop bloods and souls below shop prices, which would eliminate a money drain from the game. I know everyone expects the altars and that there ARE notifications at 77 and 85 runecrafting which say you can craft the runes, but it would be wise to not get your hopes up.
  7. You're not the only one who has. When I met one of the friends I mentioned in my post (Socanadian) it was just like that. :P
  8. Toxic you're crazy. :P You know I use tip it. That being said...here's my list. There are a lot of other people who could be put here, and I'm sorry if I didn't mention you. >_< Tip.iters (in no particular order so don't get offended) Toxic388 - Man I dunno what all to say about him. I've known him for nearly 2 years and he's always going to be one of my best friends. Dlewa0 - Same here as with Toxic. We don't exactly talk much...much he's still always a good friend. Celt23 - I've known him longer than I've known a lot of the people I still talk to on RS. We had a lot of rough patches too, but he's still cool and still a good friend and a good person. :) Azurechaos - Met this guy when I was cooking to 99 back when the tip it homeworld was 9. We don't really talk a lot but he's really cool and I'll still consider him a good friend. :) Non Tip.iters (or at least I assume they aren't :P) Socanadian - She's definitely one of the greatest people I know. I've only known her a few months, but she's way closer to me than a lot of people I've known for years. X Chaos God - I met him through some other friends using world 48 and he's basically become one of the people I've felt like I could trust with anything. Trotter 69 - A fellow Dragonz clan member. He was one of the first few people I talked to when I joined Dragonz in late 2005. He recently quit RS, but I still talk to him some and I'd still trust him with pretty much anything. Possibly the only person who can make me angry and then 5 minutes later, cause me to laugh til it hurts :P Biggerboy - Another Dragonz member. This kid has been through a lot with me. He's a really good person and definitely a good friend. :) Spartan1281 - Really funny guy. He's obviously totally insane since he can woodcut and seem to never get bored doing it. x.x There are a lot more, but I can't think atm and I don't know what else to say...so yeah this will have to do for now. >_<
  9. I'm fairly sure that's not where Andrew lives. I'm pretty sure that's just where Network Solutions is based...and it's being used to protect the privacy of their customers. Either way, it's probably best that this wasn't discussed, as it's rather creepy...
  10. The only real gripe I have with the game is the popularity. I seriously believe it's only unpopular because a LOT of people can't get there because they haven't done the quests. If it wasn't for the farming requirements for the quests, I'd say there would be a lot more people playing. However, I can see how this is a good thing. It eliminates a lot of annoying newer players from just showing up and being a bother to the rest of the people there. Perhaps a change in the requirements to play would make the game become more popular.
