  1. Hey Messiah, How up to date are you on RS? I think RS is up to something like Runescape 4 now. You're thinking of Runescape Classic. I think the current version of RS (whichever version that is) is pretty popular, but Tip.it is a dead forum. I was also trying to find a way to reconnect with some old players. You can add me on Discord if you like: CaptainK#5933 I'm not going to be playing anything related to RS, but it would be nice to reconnect with old players to at least chat from time to time. I don't have much free time, but it would be kind of cool to spend a few hours on Saturday playing some game on Steam with old RS players.
  2. Hey Everyone, If you're interested in keeping in touch, please add me on Discord: CaptainK#5933 I know I'm not the only one who checks these boards from time to time. However, I've noticed that it's not just this particular board that's dead. Most of the site is dead. As the game itself seems to still be popular, I assume lots of people are communicating through the RS site, Reddit, Twitch, or some alternative. It's not out of the realm of possibility to consider that this site will go offline at some point. To me, this is a bit sad as the forum is really all that's left of what was big part of my life when I was younger. Not only that, it might become impossible to ever chat with some of you again. As for Discord, I think it could serve a few purposes: a way to contact old friends a place to talk about RS potentially gaming together real life meetups If enough people add me, we can have a server for talking about RS. I've already got Thugpimp and Danne added. Feel free to reach out to me. -Kenny
  3. Hey Oergg. Hope life is treating you well. You were always good to me.
  4. You guys should come join me on Discord CaptainK#5933
  5. Hey dude. Yeah, RS was awesome. No other gaming experience has come close. It was really the social atmosphere paired with this forum that made things special.
  6. I did though. But both of us killed Eugene and Vincent a lot.
  7. Hey, Alanta. Hope your life is going well in NZ if you're still there! I remember I was pretty close with you at one point.
  8. Fook, I wanted to know what your story was. You've been on RS forever. You were always just kind of this chill dude. I think you were friends with Soul Steal also. What was your take on RS? Who would you say you were?
  9. Dude, your post took me back. I remember more about Medusa now. Who was the leader of the clan? There was someone else whose name is escaping me. Medusa was the only person in that clan who scared the shit out of me because of how good he was. I think I remember that moment of me killing you. Haha. Yeah, I hit 99 attack before anything else. I wasn't usually known for 3 hitting people, but I hit consistently and most of my fights because I exhausted people over time. 3 hitting you was hilarious because of this. I tended to carry weaken runes. I didn't care that people didn't like them. They were part of the game, so I used them. I actually forgot how much shit I used to get for using weaken ruins. I think me and a only a few other high levels would consistently use weaken runes, so other people started using them more often against me because they were annoyed, but I would still win most of the time because I played defensively, had high attack, and could catch well. Another reason I carried weaken runes was because I would frequently swap between leveling my overall skills and pking. For example, I would take weaken runes with me to train agility. Inevitably, someone would come attack me for whatever reason, so I was always prepared. Hope you're doing well, dude!
  10. Man, Tipit made a weird reply system. Dustin, where'd you go, dude? The Team Swifty days were some of the best days of RS for me. I don't think anything else comes close.
  11. I hope everyone is doing well. I've been reflecting on life a lot (I turn 40 next year). As I was making a list of my top 100 favorite games of all time, I started thinking a lot about RS. In the past I was kind of ashamed of how much I liked this game. The gameplay was sort of bad, but good at the same time. I think what made it really special was that it was essentially social media before social media existed, or a massive chatroom with a game attached to it. I think the simplicity is what made it so much fun. This game meant a lot to a ton of people. And it still means a lot to people. This was probably the best time in my life, even though my life is actually going quite well now. I have twins who are just about to turn 6 months old, and I'm pretty satisfied with where I am in life. This is going to be a sort of long post because I wanted to talk about a few things. First I'm going to expand on the best pkers years ago, but I also want to talk more about my own history with Runescape. These are the people I listed as who I considered the best pkers: Lord Vid - This guy was really good, and also really fun to talk to. I don't remember if I ever had him added but after watching him PK, and talking to him some, I really liked him. If I ever did have him on my friend's list, we really didn't talk much in private messages. Dmxkobe8 - Basically a better Gregechidna6. Could catch. Knew how to PK. Really fun to fight. He had a few levels on me when we were both lower. He was friends with my RL friend Soul Steal, so I was okay with him. He became a jerk once he started rapidly gaining levels. Kuriz - forget his low level that he played on a lot, really good player. He pretty much quit Kuriz and started playing on his llevel 60 all the time. I wish I could remember his name. Gregechidna6 - I wouldn't really say he was the best catcher or anything. He was just scary. Medusa - English I think, and like every other English player never left the server, so he excelled on those servers. Wasn't he RSD? What was he doing in that clan? I still think that list stands, but I wanted to add onto this with more of a "favorites" list, and I will expand on some the names above. Original list: Lord Vid- This guy is easy to remember for me. He was a much lower level than me. I remember him hanging out with Zorro, ADX, and them, but I would also see him on his own from time to time. If I remember right, I befriended him during a war. I think he was getting jumped by some clan and I helped him out. I had a huge amount of respect for this guy after watching him play. He's my favorite pker of all time. DMXKobe8- I'm going to elaborate on some of this later, but I had a weird relationship with DMX. I watched him go from being about the same level as me to training nonstop and being a feared high level player. He was a great pker. On top of that, I got super annoyed with him. See, my best friend in real life had his own set of friends. My best friend started with a character named Darksouljah, and he later made Soul Steal, a pure. I'd be at my friends house a lot, and I would train his player so he would later let me use his computer to login and play on Kdog. So anyway, I know Soul Steal was good friends with people like meili and DMX. He would help DMX clear out lower level players, so DMX would help him. I'll talk more about Soul Steal later. Kuriz- Was Kuriz also Kristoffs? I think I got that right now somehow. I don't know if anyone else remembers this guy, but he was really good, and I liked him for some reason. I think he was part of some clan, but he would mostly play with his girlfriend or something. I have no idea what happened to this guy. I felt like we should have been really close friends, but I think eventually he just disappeared. Maybe he started playing a different pure? Some of you [wagon] hopped on the pure train, so I knew you on your main accounts, you can only remember so many Xdeadlyx and xsniperxyz accounts. GregEchidna6- Back in the day, Greg was one of the most feared people in the wilderness. I remember him being good, but just intimidating. I think he also had some massive fued with Zar Family. Medusa- If I hadn't looked at my old post I would have forgotten about Medusa. I barely remember anything about this guy now. It's actually kind of sad. Alright, now that that's out of the way, I wanted to list other pkers I loved just because they were so fun. 1. Eugene RU- Eugene has to be one of my favorite players of all time. I'm pretty sure I ended up fighting him more than any other player. DSM, Swifty, Unitpoop, Llama0, and I fought this guy so much. But if I remember right, me and DSM alone fought this guy so many times. He would from time to time have a friend, but normally if I remember right, it was usually just him, and I can't remember who his friend or friends were. It got to the point where I just liked him because of how much fun he was. I really hope he's doing well in life. Nobody will ever come close to how much fun Eugene brought to the game. 2. Pepsi, Levidog, and the New Era crew- I'm lumping all of these people together. I had a massive feud with Pepsi, which ended up bringing in other friends I had. I think this was what really established Team Swifty (Me, DSM, and Swifty). I'm pretty sure they're the reason I started focusing more on leveling up. When these people all became really high levels, it was one of the only times I legitimately felt like I was being bullied. They would often catch me alone. When P2P came out, it sort of benefited me, because they all switched over, and I stayed on F2P because I genuinely enjoyed the game more. But man, these people made the game rough for me. I seriously can't think of another time where I felt outnumbered and outmatched. I went back and read a post from DSM that made me laugh. I totally forgot that someone gave me an account/PW to the NewEra forums and I went in and started messing things up. 3. The Russians- These guys were not really good pkers. That didn't even matter. I actually felt bad that they had terrible connections. It was kind of unfair that your connection to the server really amplified how good you were at the game. I think they all had a good understanding (overall) of how to pk, but they just didn't have a chance. But damn if these weren't some of the most fun fights in the game. They would announce ahead of time that they were going to be out in the wilderness, and I would assemble a crew or ask to help because they were going to be out in the wilderness. The most disappointing thing about this group was that they weren't in the wilderness enough. They just weren't out very often and when they were, it seemed like they would only be out there for awhile. I think eventually they gave up because they realized they were completely outclassed. 4. GogetaSSJ5- Gog was a really talented player who ended up becoming a friend of mine. Were were actually pretty close at one time, but he just sort of disappeared. I think with all the changes that were going on with Runescape (first P2p, then RS2), it sort of just killed RSC. It's really unfortunate what happened with the game. Gog and me used to fight a lot, but eventually we became friends. I don't even remember how we became friends exactly. I want to say Swifty or Unitpoop brought us together, but it's been so damn long. Some old, old school pkers. These are people I remember looking at back in the beginning of the RS days and just being impressed with for different reasons. Unfortunately, I just don't remember a lot about them now because it's been so long. 1. Mooncricket- I think this was the highest level player and dominant pker when the wilderness first opened up. I don't remember if he was big pre-wilderness. I think he attacked me once in the deep wilderness when he had a ton of levels on me. 2. Ashley (or A S H L E Y?) and Erixon? I might have this wrong. This waaaaay back in the day, and I'm not 100% on if it was Erixson or not). I remember Ashley fighting someone (I think it was Erixson). They were fighting near Falador (I think). I don't even remember what level I was at the time, maybe 50? This was the very first time I witnessed 2 of the highest level players in the game fighting each other. I just sat there and watched Ashley beat up Erixson. I think he ended up logging out. 3. Ladykilljoy- I can't remember much about her anymore. I think she was dating DMX at some point, but she was actually a higher level than he was. 4. Graffixetet & Wargazme- I'm lumping these people together because I can't remember much about them anymore. I think I actually did develop a relationship with Wargazme, but I'm pretty sure he created a new pure. Graffixetet was--I think--the highest level archer at one point. Did these 2 pk together? All I remember is that Graffixetet had a ton of friends. Or am I mixing him up with Killapriest? So many high levels had multiple accounts. But you would get these people like Graffixetet and Snake Slava that were so dominant in something like arching, that everyone would want to pk with them, and so any time you saw them it would be overwhelming. The difference was that Snake and the Russians would announce their entire plan. My friends: Swifty, DSM, Unitpoop, Killermandie, Llama0, GogetaSSJ5, Thugpimp These were some of my closest friends in the later stages of the game. I actually was pretty good friends with Killer for a while, and I think he was friends with Soul Steal. Thugpimp wasn't really part of Team Swifty or the extended Team Swifty, but he was a close friend of mine. There were others like Sir Justin and Mr. Man (Tim, obviously) who I later became friends, but I know there are going to be some people I leave off my list. I sincerely apologize. I knew pretty much everyone back then. It's just been so long since that I've played the game that I've forgotten a lot. First person to ever kill me? BigFrankie Does anyone else remember the first person to ever kill them? This was back before the wilderness. I had used up my last switch from non-pker to pker, and I had everything on me. This guy baited me into the mines. I think he said he was going to pay me to mine for him. Then he killed me and I lost thousands of runes, some good ore, and a bunch of money. There were lots of other people that made Runescape what it was. I pretty much at one point or another fought with everyone. But even when I wasn't part of some rivalry and just watching things from the outside, it was extremely entertaining. All of the stuff with Angel2000 (IWickedI). The entire Zar Family and Max rivalry. Kingpin and everyone. Justincar and Earlcar. Lots of others that I won't remember unless someone reminds me. I want to talk about my friend Soul Steal. I think only Killermandie (I think) knew Soul Steal. Maybe he'll confirm if he did or not. I avoided this topic for a long time because it screwed me up emotionally. He died of Leukemia back in 2006. Before that, the two of us were constantly jumping back and forth between Runescape and Diablo 2. He was a huge D2 fan, but I was (obviously) obsessed with RS. I played D2 because he was in love with the game. His real name was Ada Yang. He was born in California, but moved to the Seattle area as a young kid. He was Hmong (mountain people in Southeast Asia). Both his parents immigrated to the US back in the day. He was a great friend. It's crazy to think he passed away almost 17 years ago. I also wanted to share a little more about myself, my experiences, and why I had so much time to play RS. As mentioned above, I'm from originally from the Seattle area. I actually haven't lived in the US for nearly a decade now. Why did I have so much time to play RS? It came at almost the perfect time for me. Was it 2000 or 2001? I think it was 2001, right? I had just started playing the game about 3 or 4 months after it launched back in April of whatever year it was. If it was 2001, it was about a month or 2 before I turned 17 years old, and summer was coming up. During that time, I would play at the public library. At that time, the library didn't even have a booking system for the computer. So you could pretty much use the computer from open to close. Later the had a booking system, but you could just rebook after your time was up if nobody else had booked a slot. That was when some of the kids in my neighborhood introduced me to the game. They quit a long time ago, and I became so obsessed with the game that nobody was able to keep up with me. When I first started playing, I focused a lot on mining, smithing, and magic. I think somewhere around level 40 I started negating leveling up Kdog and I created a bunch of lower level characters that I used to pk in Lumbridge: Rough Divide (later became my pure in the wilderness), Divine Archer, and Red Virus (started a clan with kids in my neighborhood). Eventually, I started focusing on Kdog again. I was obsessed with the game. At one point I had reached #9 in overall skill total in the game. If I had focused exclusively on Kdog, I probably would have been in the top 3. I was lucky enough to almost be 18 years old at the time, and once that happened, I bought my own computer and almost never left my room except when I would go to work. There were periods when I wasn't working or when it was the weekend, all I would do was play RS. I think from 2002 (when I finished high school) to 2003 I was barely doing anything, so I just breathed RS all day. I remember I even stayed up for something like 50 hours non-stop to play RS (don't even do this BTW). So I actually had a weird perspective on the game. I was in the circle of pkers, but I also had lots of friends and rivals who were pure skill totallers. That's why I had these weird relationships with people like Bonebreaker6, Bewareofmef, and TheOldNite, among others. I actually feel legitimately bad about some of these rivalries. I think Bonebreaker quit the game because he felt bullied by me and Swifty. And I've heard rumors that TheOldNite passed away a long time ago. I'm sorry if anyone has any hard feelings to this day. I truly hope everyone is doing well, and I wanted to thank each of you for making the game a truly special thing for me. On the topic of overall skill vs pking, I really wanted to be the best at everything in the game. I couldn't decide which I wanted to focus on. I loved pking, but I also loved competing against the other people who were building their skills. Back on the topic of pking, the objective best pkers in the game were probably everyone who ended up joining ADX's (I think it was) clan. It lasted for a few months before we all got bored and started killing each other. I can't even remember what the name was. Thinking back, it must have been horrifying to encounter as someone who wasn't in the clan. People like ADX, Sue Me, and others I didn't really see much on a typical day because of the servers. At the time, I had DSL which I paid for, and I stayed on west coast servers like Vancouver, California, and later Seattle because of how much they upped my gameplay. I'm still a bit disappointed at what happened with the game: *P2P and the mage wall *people repeatedly logging out to get the lowest ping *auto catching *Jagex basically forcing people to RS2 But for a good time, RSC was an incredible experience. I think I'll leave it at that for now. Again, thanks for the memories everyone. By the way, Kory, I miss you, dude. I'm sorry that our relationship turned sour. I don't remember if I apologized for this. I think, like you said, I was bored. We were all dominating the wilderness so much, that you seemed like a good person to fight at the time. I also said something that I wanted to clarify. I think I said something before about Kory (Killermandie) not being the one to get me to pk/being the reason I started pking. Like I said, I was always a pker. But, to be fair to him, he was the main one (and I think Llama-Jamil), who would constantly try to get me to stop working on my skill total and to come pking with him. *Ironic edit* I know there are lots of typos in this. I'm not going to go back and fix them. I also wanted to add that if anyone is interested in creating a Steam group, Discord channel, or something else to just chat about old RS stuff or to keep in touch, I'd be willing to join in. I even thought it might be cool to have something like a Runescape podcast to talk about RS back in the day. If anyone reads this and wants to chat with me, add me on Discord CaptainK#5933. It would be cool to have an RS channel with people I know. We can play some games together, but it would be nice to just chat about life and old RS.
  12. Hey Guys, Thanks for all the great memories. I hope life is treating all of you well.
  13. Did you know Graeme has been wondering what happened to you? I can help you two reconnect if you want.
  14. I know this was two and a half years ago. I hope life is going well for you, Kyle.
