I have been using one of the teaching ROTS chats the last couple of days and finally got a kill yesterday after about 6 tries, though I was never the first to die in any of them.  I'm really glad I did it and learned it as opposed to just leaching it, far more gratifying!   I was very hesitant about it before and wrongly assumed people would be elitist about learning and joining a team. But the guy teaching in the chat went way above board explaining tips and tricks before we even tried it.

 

If anyone's worried about giving ROTS a go as a team boss, don't be, there are plenty of people out there to learn with and learn from.

 

Now I just need to take down the big guy, I hope the chats are good for that too, the only one I can see on the forums currently is  RagoPvM so I'll give that a go this week.

Oh wow, the difference between getting him to eat the spiders, and just luring them on you is huge. phase 4 is a heck of a lot easier, thanks so much for the tip.     I finally got my first kill , several very close calls and a lot of deaths and wasted cash.   But ill take the single victory that there is hope.     I also tried using SS and got absolutely shredded, so personally wouldnt advise it.

 

My biggest gripe currently with the EOC is the way certain abilities animations basically cause you to be stunned and unable to move for a second or so (like needle strike and bombardment), and therefore they can easily get you killed if pressed at the same time as a swipe, or unlucky green spider.     This is also a problem i find when doing the ascension bosses.    If Jagex are going to insist on making bosses where you have to dodge stuff very quickly to avoid ko's, they really need to fix this.

I'm really loving being able to use the GE on the app at long last. Being able to flip whilst at work is amazing, I've only made like 2mill so far, but it feels so satisfying.

With the pickaxe it seems to be the same old problem as always with the tiering of items, they made the dragon pickaxe as an endgame item thats ridiculously rare and therefore valuable. Therefore anything else higher has to be even more rare, so as to not devalue and make redundant the dragon pickaxe, even though there theoretically should be at least 3 more tiers to come.

Wow, so no work on the construction and agility reworks, or the inventor skills has even started at all, and from the sound of it no work will start before the end of the year (at least for construction and agility anyway).

 

It raises the question of why the heck they were made such a fuss about them at Runefest if no work was due to start for a very long time. Did they come up with some random ideas the week before Runefest just so they had something to talk about or something? I just think its a bit misleading and deceiving.

It worries me alot how most of the comments on here and that I've seen on reddit are a resoundsing and well reasoned 'what the heck Jagex, this is a rediculous and terrible idea', yet the poll is a white wash in favour of it.  Are that much of the population that moronic and fundamentalist nostaligia heads.       It seems a very whacked out priority of Jagex to be investing far more in getting back old players who have quit already (and will most likely quite again at the drop of a hat even if they do come back for a short period), than in getting in the new players that this game really needs to survive. Which as others have said is not goig to improve by making the combat system even more confusing and off putting to a new player.

Yes sure, I would be happy with that if the many other issues with the game were being worked on ,but when its caused byrehashing the same problem over and over again it gets frustrating

The update as a whole and their responses to feedback really are incredibly frustrating. The original was probably my favourite update of the last 2 or 3 years as this just seems to be half arsed job (and that’s being generous).

 

They seem to have done the same thing they did with Divination and several other updates recently: started hyping the update up many months before they even started work on it, and then rush it out with minimal work. This way of doing it means disappointment is the only possible outcome.

 

And to say they did it because of development and graphics restrains, this was arguably the only big update this month, or if you include the mole one of only 2 ‘proper updates’. I’ve stuck by and had faith in Jagex through the past 12 months of meagre update quantities but now not only every month are we down to only 1 or 2 big updates a month, those updates are getting smaller and smaller each time. Surely something has to be happening internally with the number of people working on the game, or is it a managerial issue? But something definitely seems to have changed in the past 12 months and its really disconcerting.

Really disappointed at how completely inaccessable the barrows update will be for 99% of the player population. I really wanted it to have at least some sort of solo play option. But requiring multiple people and mega expensive gear gear kill means it will be useless for me at least.

They really need to stop obsessively trying to apease the likes of Dardan and Woox etc when they are just not representative of the average player. Qbd is still so heavily played as it was difficult but still so accessable. I thought they would have learned from that. This infuriates me even more as its basically the only updste were getting this month.

Surely no one in their right mind would donate 10m gp for a 1$ donation when a bond currently costs 6.5m gp and gives a 5$ donation.   Let me know if im misinterpretting this, but the 10m options seems retarded?

I don't think it being a novice quest is necessarily as clear cut a term to judge it on now days though. The death of chivalry was a novice quest remember, and that deffinitely was a compltely different quest to the 'novice quests' of old. If there is any combat in the quest then its likely they they will be scaled also.

Yes I can safely say it's the grief from teaming up with randomers that has resulted in me now having gone from lvl 100 to my current level of 113 entirely from sinkholes, with the odd daily challenge here and there. I just find that every time I do try do the odd large using the worlds for it, I end up being berrated and sworn at for simple mistakes, it just completely puts me off from trying and getting properly into the skill. I guess it is just the design of the skill that means one person mucking up can punish the whole team,but I dont know how it could be improved. I still don't know why they havent removed puzzle rooms like the lever and mime rooms as they just create so many problems that don't need to exist.

To be honest I'll be really disappointed if the Uber-Barrows boss thing is aimed at groups of 3-10, as theyve been saying for a while now that they want to do an extra tough solo boss, The last 2 major bosses needed big groups to play (I dont count the ascension dungeon bosses as theyre not a viable boss unless youre going for the complete ACBs and even then you risk loss), surely its time for another solo one

 

Also barrows is such a historical, well loved  SOLO piece of content that players still do all these years later, surely building on that would be the way forward as opposed to forcing group bossing onto us.

 

QBD is such a hugely popular boss because its so accessable, with a good drop table for consistant drops of reasonable value, and that you can pick up and do for just 10 minutes if you feel like it. Organizing other players to do a boss with you just makes it much less playable to a large amount of the player base.

 

Apologies for rambling, I just really want another solo boss and thought the barrows upgrade would have been ideal for it

I must say its the comment about the quest length that annoyed me most in that podcast. Mod Mark said 'quest length is the thing I disagree with the players the most on' , thats not really listening to the players then is it then as they keep bragging at the moment! As Yoko Karuma said, we dont want it for the sake of it being long, we want it because quests like WGS made you feel more immersed than perhaps anything else on RS ever has. I have never had a problem with Mod Mark before , but the flippant comment about it being just the same to make us kill monkeys for 4 hours makes me unbelievably annoyed at how much he doesnt get it.
