  1. Monster Data Type of Monster: Ice Troll (on island north of Jatiszo) Number of Monsters Killed: 131 Time to Complete Task (in minutes): 30 (If unknown, give an approximation) Method XP Rate: No idea. (If unknown, give an approximation) Ring of Wealth: Yes. Range: Cannon -- Ammo: Cannonballs -- Range level: 74 Charm Count Gold: 5 Green: 0 Crimson: 1 Blue: 2
  2. I just killed 122 Turoths. 9 Gold 26 Green 2 Blue 5 Crimson
  3. You still don't get exp for actually using the pouches (at least, I don't think that you do). The only way to actually gain a non-negligible amount of experience is by making pouches, and that hasn't changed. This is an improvement, but I personally would have preferred keeping the shard price, but allowing you to get a significant amount of exp (even if only 1 exp per damage point) for the damage that your familiar deals. Meh.
  4. I've been wondering... in duel tournaments in which summoning is allowed, how does it work? Do you have to re-summon the familiar every round, or does it stay? Are familiars healed when you are healed (or not healed when you are not)? Has anyone actually used familiars in a duel tournament yet?
  5. Agreed. I pictured the skill as summoning monsters during slayer assignments, teaming up on the enemy, and getting summoning and combat (not to mention slayer) exp. I figured that you might need summoning potions to keep the familiar for an extended period of time... but these limitations are ridiculous. The exp that you get for actually using summoned creatures is so ridiculously low as to be negligible, and you train the skill by gathering either rare or expensive materials and running in circles. Why doesn't Jagex understand that we want to be able to train skills that aren't boring and repetitive? Farming was a step in the right direction, and Summoning could have been so much more and still been fairly difficult to train. If one thing in the skill needs to be changed, it's the experience that you get for USING familiars. Everything else I could accept.
  6. Flax is more profitable than coal. Flax has been selling for 85 each last time I checked, while coal has been selling for 162 each. Flax costs 40 gp each through Miscellania, coal costs 90. 50000/40 (number of flax) x 45 (profit per flax)= 56,250. 50000/90 (number of coal) x 72 (profit per coal)= 40,000. Flax is the best choice, with coal in second and all other items trailing by a significant margin.
  7. Have you been there recently? The tournaments are packed (although only on one of the theme worlds at once), there are plenty of high-ranked, high-level people there, and you can win quite a bit of money if you're good. It's not nearly as much as you could win in old staked duels, of course, but you also have no risk of losing a fortune. The preset rules also add some variety and strategy, rewarding players who know who to take advantage of them.
  8. It seems to me that the best way to deal with these is to do everything as a team. Think about it- there's no risk anymore that someone will stab you in the back, and there's no risk of accidentally skulling. You can now have 20 people at the agility course 3-iteming with black d hide and a crystal bow/abyssal whip, ready to fight off any revenant that appears. You can do the same at Green Dragons, though obviously there's a limit to how many players can train there at once. Other players can also bless your gravestone, which is always a plus. I'd suggest a theme world for activities like the wilderness agility course to allow players to protect each other. Maybe someone should start a topic... not me, because I don't think that I'd use it, but someone who's interested should give it a try. It's a cool idea, I think.
  9. Because you can't note them or sell them, it takes a very long time to get rid of 1k snowballs. You'll never get that bank slot back. Not that you'll need it for a while with the new bank space update...
  10. You misunderstand me. I never said that nothing was lost by these updates; I said that there are still ways to show off and have fun with high combat levels. The statement that there's no more use for 99 ranged or magic because they aren't efficient ways to kill monsters is flawed, as is the statement that Godswords and other awesome, but perhaps inefficient pieces of equipment are useless. Of course some people prefer pking and staking to the new methods that we have, but that doesn't mean that there's no more use for the skills that people trained for pking. EDIT: Forgive me if I implied that pking isn't a significant loss when I said that "all that we lost is pking (in its previous form)." That was not my intention.
  11. A lot of people seem to be saying things like this... "we can't pk, we can't stake, there's no point in high combat levels." We still have Castle Wars and Fight Pits. We have Duel Tournaments. There's Bounty Hunter. There are plenty of uses for high combat levels and ways to show them off- some profitable, some fun. 99 range, 99 mage, and 126 combat are still worthy goals and good to have. RS isn't "just grinding" now... all that we lost is pking (in its previous form) and the ability to make unbalanced trades. We still have just about EVERYTHING ELSE. Yes, team monster hunting might have taken a hit, but there are workable solutions to that that Jagex could implement, as Qelter pointed out in his excellent article.
  12. It's a very short walk from the Edgeville glory ammy teleport spot. There's an agility shortcut that puts you right into the exchange north-east of Edgeville. I agree with your point, however- and all of your others. I can only hope that Jagex listens. Oh, and whoever's saying that green d hide prices and bones are going to plummet... from what I've heard, these revenants are scarier than pk'ers. At least you now have no risk of accidentally skulling in the wildy, so you can 3-item safely...
  13. I had been saving up flax and coal from MTK for a month in anticipation for the GE to come out. That was a mistake. Needless to say, I'm going to wait for flax prices to go up to at least 70 each before selling them again. The real problem is that because of the exchange, nobody buys far above the exchange maximum anymore- even on forums! Flax dropped from 80-90 each to 50-60 in a week. I'm leaving coal on the exchange at max price (162), which is lower than I ever expected to sell it for, but it's never going to sell at that price anyway, so I don't suppose that it makes any difference. I've managed to get rid of some lobsters, swordies, and rune legs, but that's all that I've sold so far. EDIT: And all of the people having difficulty selling Amulets of Strength.... the issue with that is that demand will not even come close to equaling the supply. Not that many members use them, and you'll almost never need more than two, one to use and one to hold a bank space. The same is true for Holy and Unholy Amulets, Amulets of Magic, Amulets of Defense, and Amulets of Power. I could go on and on. You're better off alching them then trying to find a buyer.
