What if Jagex changed the rules and permitted botting?

24 June 2011 - 07:32 PM

Would you still play the game and not bot? Would you bot? Or would you quit the game in disgust? I'll admit that if Jagex changed the rules I might consider it, but more than likely I'd probably just quit all together. Not only do I feel there's no point in playing a game you don't actually play, but I couldn't see the point in playing a game in which you would almost assuredly be competing against a bot. As it is, it seems that most people bot because they can get away with it. If botting were legal, I'd expect the vast majority of Runescape players to bot themselves.

Levelcists

You know who they are. The people who won't invite you to a dungeoneering party because you're, apparently, "too low leveled". The people who will take a level 130 with 1800 skill total and 40 dung over, say, someone who is level 120 with 2100 skill total and 80 dung. The people who, somehow, haven't figured out that combat level isn't indicative of what your stats really are (I had a level 129 refuse to invite me to a party because I was too low leveled. So I looked her up and, wouldn't you know it, the only stats she had higher then was attack and strength. And she had something like 1700 skill total, to boot). Yeah, those people. I hate them, because their ignorance is appalling.

At least you're not this guy

Back in 2007, I vowed to attain a dragon large from mithril dragons. Three years later (Well, two really, as I didn't play for one of those years), and literally thousands of dragons later, still no dragon large. Today, I'm just as committed to that goal as ever. Why? Because it's the principle that matters. Even though there's really no point to it, as there far easier ways of making money, I'm not a quitter.

At one point I was keeping a detailed drop log, but somewhere along the line I lost it. Ah well! Thus, this project. As I kill mithril dragons, I'll be posting the post-trip inventory for you all to see. Now, this isn't to discuss how I kill mithril dragons or the merits of killing mithril dragons or anything else of the like. No, this is for you all to laugh, cry, cheer, ignore or do whatever you want to do as I hope and pray that maybe, just maybe, the Runescape gods will smile upon me and grant me that red helmet I desire (Not a med!).

Anyway, on to the pics! There are only a couple now, but as I do more trips I'll add more pics.

I can't say I'll update this every day, but I'll try.

Don't think I'll kill any more for two or so days, as I'll be doing hunter.

I'm going to be mining for a while, so not sure when I'll get back to killing miths.

Why didn't Jagex just remove skilling?

27 December 2007 - 05:05 AM

Since 99.99999% of all auto'ers participated in a non-combat skill (Fishing, woodcutting, mining) why couldn't Jagex simply remove those skills and label the innocent players caught in the crossfire as 'collateral damage'? The ends, after all, seem to justify the means (In Jagex's eyes, of course).

Of course, this idea will more than likely be flamed to hell by those people who frequently fish, woodcut and mine, but I have to ask you why my idea is any less idiotic than ruining staking and PK'ing for those who actively engaged in those activities? If you're one of those people who believe that there must be casualties in Jagex's pursuit of victory, then why does it matter who those casualties are so long as the ultimate goal (No more auto'ers and RWT'ers) is achieved?
