Regarding the (+) and (x) grave symbols: Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the very first time we ever saw (x) during the Digsite Quest, on the Ancient Symbol? The same quest where we later found a stone tablet in the now abandoned altar of Zaros, which said "Tremble mortals, before the altar of our dread lord Zaros"? Basically, hasn't the (x) symbol been associated with Zaros right from the very beginning? Regarding Zaros' power/role The 'god of Entropy' role suggested was actually Amascut's role, before her corruption, and now seems to be filled by Icthlarin. Zaros was always clearly the most powerful god (with the exception of Guthix): in the Ghostly Robes miniquest, we find out that a Saradominist wizard enchanted the Staff of Armadyl to make it undetectable by Zaros, rather than reacquiring the weapon capable of killing a god among other things. Given the Saradominist's activity with regards to power, especially artifacts (Entrana artifact, anyone? Saradomin stars in the Monk of Zamorak chapel? White Knights (read Betrayal at Falador to understand this)?) they seem to want to not only have power, but let people know it. Letting one of the most powerful weapons in the world just slip through their grasp in order for Zaros to be killed means Saradominists must have considered Zaros as an extremely dangerous foe. Even the Wise Old Man will tell you to not speak of Zaros if you bring it up. Also, during the God Wars which almost destroyed the world, Saradominist and Zamorakian forces, the bitterest of foes, would team up to destroy the remnants of the Zarosian Empire (this was after Zamorak had been banished and then come back, so Zaros had been gone quite a while). When Zaros was once mentioned in the God Letters to Zamorak, the reply made it obvious that Zamorak still feared Zaros. So basically, all the other factions on the planet at the time viewed Zaros as the Big Bad, and a massive threat to them. A god of entropy or the balance to Guthix would not be seen as such a foe.
