  1. Why are people complaining about the next 5 years statement? I personally think it's amazing that Jagex have made that statement - making RuneScape the main product for almost double it's current lifespan! And the fact that they haven't said that after 5 years, RS will be left to fester... Surely it depends on how the community is looking after that 5 years? For all we know, everyone could get hooked on one of Jagex's new games, and then we'd all complain how their focus isn't on the new games! Anyway, how many people will still be around after 5 years? I can't say I will be - there's a chance, but I'm not certain... I've played the game for around 3 years now, so I couldn't say if I'll continue to play after 8 years! Think, if you are 13 now, that'd take you to 18. If you are currently 18, it would take you to 23. Who's life doesn't change within 5 years? : Oh, and surely it's better that the average Jmod age is 22 - a young company, providing services for young people? I'm loving that article, it shows that Jagex still haven't reached their prime :D
  2. The secret update... I have no idea! There's been rumours of 'Mechscape', but I can't see this happening (it's not an update for Runescape - at least, I sincerely hope not!), it's more likely to be a new skill or land. Though, hunting released a few bonus areas, and Jagex didn't hype it up... IMO, a new skill. In a previous official poll (I forget which - it was around when they released the new poll system), Jagex stated that they have some new skill ideas in the works, or words to that effect. Though I can't think of what the new skill would be... Perhaps a couple new skills that compliment each other, with a new area to use the skills? Kind of a woodcut / fletch style thing? The title of this thread really annoys me. I sometimes wish that Jagex would actually stop listening to players, stop their customer service, just so people appreciate what they do. As a lot of people said before me, they do listen. The only problem is implementing these ideas, and sorting through the useless ones. Machine guns? Ridiculous. Horses? Negates all the hard work the older players puts in. Any good ideas people have are considered - it just takes time for this to happen. Jagex have even tried to show this in the Development Diaries - but I guess the whiny players wouldn't bother reading those. Impetuous Impulses took 28 weeks (Half a year!) from concept to implementation. IMO, that minigame wouldn't have been a difficult one to create, unlike a system like Castle Wars which required it's own interfaces, etc.. 6 weeks for the NPC model updates. These things take time. Oh, and not all of the updates are geared towards you specifically. There will be updates that some players do not like, whereas others enjoy them. Such as the anti-scam updates - it keeps the younger players playing the game. How would you like it if something you worked at for a week or two was taken away by some luring team? You may say that you wouldn't fall for this, but it happens. I almost fell for the 'giving away sharks, show ur inventory' scam. When I first started the game, I could have easily fallen victim to a team scam - I didn't know enough about prices back then. However, too many players say that Jagex should stop with the 'kiddie' updates. I started playing the game when I was about 17.
  3. It's not great, but it's the best I could do! Monkey D. Luffy, of One Piece fame!
  4. I've only read the first page and the last couple, I just don't have time (or patience!) to read through all 15 pages. Firstly, a few people are saying how it would be good if Diango could store the random event costumes. Sorry, but I don't see that happening any time soon - members have only recently been given the costume room in the POH, which stores random event costumes. Since Jagex have recently addressed the problem (for p2p at least), I can't see them making a new way to store random event costumes. The random event costume section of the costume room would essentially become obselete, and I'm fairly sure that Jagex don't like to totally revise ideas they have had. I feel that there are just going to be two kinds of people on this topic. The f2p players that can't afford / aren't allowed a subscription, who will never become members, and the people who just use f2p who can afford a subscription, but are happy with the way things are already. The players that cannot get a subscription obviously would benefit from an increased bank size. There has been several new items introduced to the f2p world, such as the Security Stronghold boots, pure essence, more random event clothing, and yet there hasn't been a bank space increase for f2p that I can remember. However, this kind of player is unlikely to quit f2p, hence Jagex still receives the pittance from the ads. The other kind of player may become frustrated with the restricted space, and decide to become a member. I know that if I was given more bank space, I would have possibly taken around 2 months longer to become p2p, as I raised my skills to a certain point, which could have gone higher had I the space to store higher level items. IMO, it's just a case of what type of player is more common on f2p. The players who cannot afford a subscription may tell their ex-RuneScape friends about more bank space, essentially gaining Jagex a larger player base. However, this will essentially come at the cost of declining new subscriptions. Heh, I've rambled myself into a kind of stalemate! :)

    OK, I've got an answer!!! A+20=4B {the given equations} B/2=D C=3A DC=5 B = 2D {from B/2 = D} D = 5/C {from DC = 5} A+20 = 4B {given equation} A+20 = 8D {substitute B for 2D} A+20 = 40/C {substitute D for 5/C} A+20 = 40/3A {substitute C for 3A} 3(A^2+20A)=3(40) {multiply by 3A} 3(A^2+20A-40) = 0 {minus 3(40) from both sides} 3A^2+60A-120 = 0 {multiply out the 3} -b(+-)(root)(b^2-4ac) / 2a {quadratic equation} -60(+-)(root)(3600+480) / 6 {substitute in the values} A = 0.645812... or a negative, which we'll ignore If A = 0.645: C = 3A = 3*0.645 = 1.935 D = 5/C = 5/1.935 = 2.584 B = 2D = 2*2.584 = 5.168 If you put those values: A = 0.645 B = 5.168 C = 1.935 D = 2.584 into the first equations, it all works... Well, it gives almost the correct answers, due to rounding from the quadratic equation above... Wow, that was kinda complicated :) And to answer your initial question... I don't believe there is a simpler method!

That parts wrong I'm fraid, you put A= 3/C on the second line, where it's actually A = C/3... which cancels it all out and gives DC = 5 again... I'm working through this now, and have so far got nothing!
  7. It's not a terrible idea, but how many people would be willing to use this system? Imagine a fairly new player who manages to lock his/her bank, and leaves the game for a month or so. Then they come back, and has to remember two passwords to utilise the game properly... I think it'd be more of a hinderence to some people, so perhaps a way to totally disable it? It is a good idea, though probably one I wouldn't use... Another way around keyloggers is to use a system similar to my online bank account; have a passnumber, such as a DOB, but it only asks for 3 or 4 numbers out of the number... Such as 1st 3rd 4th and 6th numbers (random which ones it chooses)? Then a keylogger only gets part of the number... Just a thought!
  8. These rule guys! Welcome to Runescape! A home for frogs. (Waterlily) Welcome to Runescape! Ooohhh look at the pretty colours... (Team cape) Welcome to Runescape! Makes me feel like a Princess. (Tiara) Welcome to Runescape! Not suitable for archaeological digs. (Gardening Trowel) Welcome to Runescape! This used to belong to King Arthur. (Excalibur)
