Can't you resize the game screen itself to set the interface outside of it to make it more like fixed? hang on i'll try and post a pic

I don't play fixed, so I could be wrong but this is the default "Classic" loadout on NIS with some very minor tweaks and it seems very similar to me. All I did was make the map smaller to expand the backpack. None of the interfaces overlap the game screen, it's a seperate entity with the interface being surrounding entities instead of overlapping (done using the option "3D World Editing" that's found within Edit Mode)

Better yet.. As someone who wants to use half the screen for RS and half the screen for something else, why not make your interface more friendly for that than the classic is?
This is something I came up with in sub 5 minutes. Idk how useful it'd be, because I didn't play with it, but is at least taking advantage of the whole half of the screen I have for RS instead of just the small portion that Fixed uses. You could even make it where the chat box doesn't cover the game screen, though that's never bothered me

You say you're open to change, but you surely don't act like it. I don't think NIS, HTML5, or RS3 are ready yet either, but to entirely discredit them is very closed minded.

So I played HTML5 beta today on a computer designed for gaming. They really think this is going to be ready for release in 11 days? The camera movements are horrible, there hasn't been an integrated test of NIS and HTML5, and overall the game just looks bad - and I was on max settings. I normally am a positive person that gives people the benefit of the doubt, and usually support Jagex on their moves but this is going to be 10x worse than EoC and how unready they are for the release (not an argument about benefits of EoC, because I think it was needed - but it was clearly not ready/balanced since they're still working on it, and not just little tweaks but major changes.) I'm sorry if you're going to miss debuting during the summer months Jagex, but rushing this is a terrible idea.

I know I'm not as good as everyone else, but I'm pretty proud of my stats considering school isn't out yet and I'm in university so not much play time. Already got a whip so my defense levels will come quickly :)

PJ timer is necessary. If you want to team up on people go use multi.

I get the feeling this is one of those things people that don't PK might not understand or appreciate how detrimental not having the PJ timer truly is. As mentioned above it's not all about the deaths that come from it, it's the interruption and loss of tempo that just kills the fun.

The wild already has some sanity rules, like the combat level difference to attack one another. Adding more sensible much needed rules isn't beyond reason.

My main point is that it applies almost entirely to Edgeville PKing. There would definitely be some resistance from people who PK elsewhere. For example, the mouse scroll wheel camera control would have little effect on Edgeville PKing, but it managed to get around 35% of the community against it, with the primary reason being that it every-so-slightly unbalances "run-in" or "spur" type PKing where you have to identify if a white dot is a danger to you. :P


First, (and I thought this back in 07 as well) I'm not really for a PJ timer. I'd just like to see an update that makes it so that if I'm fighting someone, and go for specs and they eat twice, I'd like it to still register that I'm in combat with that person, thus can't get attacked, I shouldn't be made to suffer just cause the other guy needs to eat consistantly.


I could support something like this, but I would not support something that protects me after I kill that guy. After that guy dies you should be free game. It's the wilderness, not your mom's house where when your brothers gang up on you she grounds them. There's no very limited rules, intentionally.

Absolutely. Based on this topic, you guys (not you necessarily, but overall) don't like him very much. Still, he does what he wants, he plays the game his way, and as far as I know, he doesn't scam anyone, so he still gets an enjoyable experience out of it. Runescape has the great ability, that I don't find in other MMORPGs to actually let you do what the hell you want, and I think Vann takes that in stride.

So if what he's doing embodies the spirit of the game, why are there Jagex-created discussion topics about curbing it on the RSOF, and why is Jagex actively trying to work against it through game updates, such as dice bag removal or silent muting?

Not to mention he admitted to breaking multiple rules including RWT..

This has everything to do with your point. How can you argue someone is playing the game in a manner that is befitting and supportive of the integrity and spirit of the game when the same player has used those means to fund activities that are almost 100% regarded as entirely destructive to the game (RWT), and have been from the beginning against the rules. The player clearly has no active interest in the game or the spirit of the game, only the interest of his own self-gain and what benefits him the most - so much to an extent that he has compromised the spirit of the game only to benefit himself and then justify it with "I got what I want, then I stopped so it's okay!"

You have got to be kidding me if you believe that player is the spirit of the game, this game wouldn't exist if we all had his attitude.

My original post said Fire Capes offered next to no benefit at all. I was appealing to a claim in a previous thread about how nothing in EoCscape provides any sense of achievement any more. If what this is all about is an altruistic desire from elite players to have your skills challenged and tested in-game, because you're too powerful to be tested by the monsters already in the game, why does the reward need to be the best item available, or provide any additional source of money?

Can't you see that as soon as you put a cash prize on a piece of content and make it easy enough to "grind", it ceases to become a challenge any more, and it becomes simply another means of wealth creation, which in turn is a means of purchasing XP?


I thought this was all about a desire for the correct tiers to be available to the people in that range, therefore people with 80 defense can access nex gear.

As for challenges, no NPC will ever truly be a challenge, only the learning curve is a challenge. Once something is mastered it is not hard, because it cannot think. The only true challenge is going to come from PvP which is a very broken model in RS.

I'm confused by the objective of the above conversation. The drop rate is what it is, and the bonuses are basically neglible. If you want the gloves, suck it up and grind or suck it up and pay for neglible bonuses. What's the big deal about a rare drop rate? The monsters are easy enough to camp and they're not a boss, the rate should be reasonably low. I believe I saw on RSOF that the mod who designed them said they are 20% more rare than glacor boots, that's not insanely high. Stop complaining about poor luck, it's always been part of the game.

Also, I earned all my bank (~1.5B) through monster hunting. So people who say only gamblers, stakers, etc can buy stuff is just not true. Sure skilling isn't great money, but it hasn't been for years. Why the sudden uproar?

And at above's example's..
By the time GWD came out many people were way beyond 70 stats, and the ones who were killing the bosses were above 70 stats crowding out the 70 statters (I know because I was one of them.) And the problem is that a large population is maxed out, yet we don't have scaled gear to go with it. If we did, then we would be paying alot for that and tier 80 gear would be accessible to 80's. The problem comes from tier 80 being top tier, they need to finish the tiers out.

If you have a chimera, a jade golem is superior in stats. I used mine during bowl but found it quickly outclasses in Pincers, especially with Horsehead
