RuneScape Information

  1. I get all the girls, I get *all* the girls.

  2. And here's how I look at it. There's any amount of time between 10 to 3 minutes left. I'm getting my butt whooped. I'm not here to sit safely inside my teams area, I'm here to have fun and if I have to make my own fun, I will. I will do that by aiming for most deaths (with which the other team is usually happy to help), by 1-iteming with protect item on so I don't run out of daggers and yelling random nonsense as I do it. Keeps me amused and sure as hell beats sitting around for a while waiting for a timer to run down in hope the next game will be better. I do enough of that in the lobby at Soul Wars thank you very much.
  3. Because I'm useless at money stuff, can you please explain (in really simple terms and I mean really simple) how interest comes into it?
  4. In answer to the OP's question Yes. I can also try crashing at pretty much any other combat level, whether higher or lower. I've been crashed as many times as I've crashed someone else and really, the only thing that makes it a big deal is your attitude about it. And believe me, if you jump up and down complaining and telling someone to hop, then it's just human nature that they'll decide to stay longer because people are stubborn and don't react well to being told what to do. All these analogies about queues have clearly never seen the attempts at a concert to get served at the merch table or the chaos at the end of year sales.
  5. Yeah I'm playing it atm - I wanted to see what the fuss was about. One of the 'quests' is to join an alliance, then get rewards as your alliance gets bigger. Overnight, we went from 20 members to 80.
  6. As someone else said, so basically any skill you can't buy, make easy money from and doesn't level quickly is broken? Riiight. Everyone's pretty much said what I was planning to, so I'll just finish up with: If you don't like it, stop playing. Or keep crying, but expect everyone to laugh at you.
  7. Speaking as someone who plays Texas Hold 'Em (basically the same game, just different rules) regularly I've often seen people play their hole cards for odd reasons. The day I got engaged, I played every hand that had diamonds in it. My fiancee plays 2-7 (one of the worst hands) because it's our son's birthdate. And I've rarely played against anyone that folds 6-9 (because we're all immature like that). The analogy isn't ridiculous. The 'only play to win' attitude is. People play a game in whatever way makes it fun for them. If it's going in guns blazing with a death wish or playing bad hands, if it amuses them, why not? It's all about what someone finds fun or rewarding. When I play a game - of any kind, my main priority is to have fun. Winning is just an added bonus. And if something is for free, then why not do whatever is fun, even if it is completely ridiculous and means you have no chance of winning? (NB: I don't play any other video/computer games except Runescape, which I why I'm focusing on the poker comparisons)
  8. I'm sure a few guys have said this in the thread, but this is the first post containing it so.... But anyways, whenever I see a guy character in a plateskirt, I compliment him on his kilt and tell him it takes a real man to wear a skirt. Usually this is taken in the good humour it's meant - on one occasion it lead to a long and entertaining conversation about leg waxing!
  9. Speaking, also as an adult, I will not respect someone just because they're older than me and I am raising my son the same way. Isn't respect worth more when it's earned than when expected, whether deserved or not? Also, how is it compromise to automatically respect someone just because they were born before you were? By expecting the respect based on your age, you are also showing an unwillingness to compromise with the changing attitudes of society. How is it a compromise if the teenager is expected to do what they are told without discussion or negotiation? Adults, especially parents, don't know everything that happens in a teenagers head or in their life. How can anyone know what's good for someone when they don't know the full story on the situation? If the only reason I have to respect someone is based on how old they are, then there really is no reason to respect them at all - especially when they're condescending and patronizing towards those they expect respect from. I apologize for the disjointedness of the post, but honestly, with the kind of attitude I see in your post, I'm not surprised you seem to have trouble getting respect from teenagers. If the attitude of those around you in game bothers you so much, turn off public. Makes life a lot easier.
  10. I haven't read all the replies, but I assume I'm not the only one saying this. I would never sell my account. Not just on account of the time spent, but because there's a lot of memories attached. From the time I bumped into a friends rl g/f in the Draynor bank, getting lured out of a whip, buying my first dragon axe and getting whitescreened, then to log in to see a handle in my invent and someone running off yelling 'OMFG' to Lady Henious threatening to kick me from chat if I didn't shut up and finish Desert Treasure, getting Quest Cape the first time, the minor breakdown I had over MEP2, hitting my first 99, my first 5mil plus death, many hours of laughs in clan chats, getting to know new people and making some new friends through the game. Then there's discovering workmates of my fiancee also played and wasting hours sharing laughs, sob stories, advice and mocking n00bs. Not to mention joining the same clan as my fiancee and the two of screeching at each other "Attack!" "cover me!" "get the ancienter!" "You've been poisoned!" "OMFG I'M ABOUT TO DIE!" Memories can't be paid for and even though it's 'just a game' and 'just pixels' I've got a bunch of memories from time I would've spent either watching TV or doing housework. Those are just some of the reasons I wouldn't trade my account for anything less than a brand new house fully paid for. And if someone actually offered me that, I wouldn't take them seriously anyways. *climbs off soapbox*
  11. One of the most entertaining RS discussions I've ever had was with a 14 yr old about an immature 30 yr old that we both knew.
  12. I add them back, wait 5 minutes, turn private off, delete them. Or tell them my friends list is full.
  13. *stands in adult female corner with ArtemisCatal* Nice to meetchya. I usually have a standard reply for stuff like this, but really cbf atm. I haven't had too much problem with demands for proving my female-ness or adulthood. I find the bigger problem is the 17-22 age bracket who try to chat me up. Ooh! I remember you Chickeybee. Mostly because you talked about your baby in the chat alot \ I think it doesn't really matter if you're a boy or girl online. It's not like I'm going to meet them in real life or so. I decide weither I like them or not by the chat conversation we have. ( I don't use any teamspeak/Ventrillo online, besides the Xbox where I only talk to rl friends.) *waves sheepishly* Life got a bit chaotic and I went from 'check forums now' to 'check them later' to 'oh it's been 4 days, I'll check them when I have time' to 'hang on... I haven't been on tipit in HOW LONG?' I still do talk about my son a lot. He's a maniac.
  14. I rarely talk in public for many reasons - requests for advice, the usual BS that goes with being an adult female RSer and the conversation turning into a stats/bank contest being the main ones. I also have an active friends list, at least two other non-runescape online conversations running and I'm usually playing games on social networking sites or playing online poker at the same time. In addition that, I have the TV on or chat to my fiancee about what we're doing in game. If I don't talk to you, half the time I haven't even noticed you're there. If you were to ask me why I'm not chatting when I haven't responded, I'm likely to just turn public off. (Assuming I even see the question :P )
  15. ^ Lol. But, back on topic. I don't quite see - let alone understand - the point the thread creator is trying to make. From what I see, they are arguing that being addicted to RS is not as bad as being addicted to say, alcohol, or nicotine. Am I right? :| I think that is the point that's trying to be made. And while I agree that RS is a psychological addiction, not a physical one the rest of the post just fails. ETA: The OP fails, not Greekskiller's post
