#5566530 What Game(s) Did You Last Get and What Are You Playing?

Posted by chenw on 26 June 2015 - 01:02 PM

WoW isn't a pay 2 win because there is no microtransaction in WoW that helps directly with getting loot from raids. You can buy gold yes, but gold only gets you so far.

Even if you are into 'buying' loot, you are still going to be, at most, same as everyone else. There is nothing you can pay for in WoW that makes you better than someone else who doesn't.

Edit:

For Steam sale I got

Wolfenstein: Old Blood

Age of Mythology Extended Edition

Final Fantasy 13-2

Currently flipping back and forth between RS (hoping to max before a new skill), FF13 and FF4 on steam (don't ask...)

Aiming to get all achievements on FF13, currently abusing Death on Adamantoises for ingots.

#5562909 RAR and ISO files illegal?

Posted by chenw on 30 May 2015 - 11:06 PM

Your title and your post does not match at all lol.

Rar and ISO files are not illegal by any means, as long as the content does not have copyright issues.

Emulators on the other hand is a lot more subtle. You definitely might need an expert opinion on this, but as far as I am aware, the emulator program itself is not illegal, the ROM themselves are the shady areas. Big corporations tend to attack emulator programers as ROMs are useless without the said emulators, whereas there may be tons more ROM uploaders.

So a basically a model of pay for the modes you want rather than pay for half of a game and the other half in DLCs..

I would have prefered the term 'modularised' rather than 'unfinished', though what he is describing is really heavily dependent on how it is implemented and the game in question. I personally would love a cheaper version of the game with the multiplayer removed, as that part in any game are stuff I generally avoid. EG I would gladly shave off $10 or so off GTA V if it means no multiplayer.

Pillars of Eternity, Basically a modernised version of BG using it's own rule set, but has similarities with D&D (limited spells per rest, for example).

#5519538 Multiplies for prayer during DXPW

According to Wikia, prayer brawlers do not work during BXPW (and hence loses no charges)

#5516953 Player ports - which skill first?

Posted by chenw on 05 September 2014 - 11:08 AM

Going with RC seems the most beneficial overall in my opinion, reason being:

1. 90 RC is used to attract Occultist, which lets you start ports

2. 90 RC is also used to craft Seasingers

3. The Occultist offers voyages that yields Chi, which is used to make Seasinger's

so basically for any one skill, 90 rc is almost entirely self-sufficient, while cooking is indeed easier to get, The cook doesn't actually offer that much spices on his voyages (bulk of the spices are offered by the assassin).

#5516002 Balthazar's Big Raffle

Posted by chenw on 31 August 2014 - 03:11 PM

Tuesday, Wednesday and saturday would be my picks. 100m is too remote of a chance, and I don't need the money, insta-kill darts is useless for me without the comp count (understandable limitation, but does remove any use I have for it), and skilling outfit is also rather useless :P

#5515998 Which drygores should I get if I can only afford 1 pair?

Posted by chenw on 31 August 2014 - 03:07 PM

In terms of practicality (not with standing any accuracy issues):

MH: Both Rapier and Longs do more damage than mace, though only by a minute amount (less than 10 points difference), Rapier and Long are identical to each other besides override options, which longs have many many more than rapiers. Mace however have a very substantial Prayer bonus (which you may or may not care about).

OF: Both rapier and Long do more damage than mace, but again, by a minute amount (less than 5 points of difference), but off hand mace is a lot cheaper compared to rapier or long.

For entirely practical purposes, I would probably go with dual maces, as it is the cheapest pair, so you have more money available to buy other things.

The difference between them are very minor.

#5511167 Ring of Kinship Customization?

Posted by chenw on 06 August 2014 - 09:53 AM

Actually magic accuracy is quite useful (at least from what I can see) because the triangle is quite strictly enforced so that higher level mobs you may have accuracy issues even with celestial catalytic. And the magic accuracy bonus on the ring is massive compared to the other two styles.

However I am no dg expert, so I could be wrong on this one.

The fact there are people who wear the X Year cape pretty much IS the proof that gaming is for all ages.

#5477825 fewer safe spots after EoC update?

However the best safe spot is usually Impact/Binding shot

#5475976 27th January, 2014 - Holey Moley

Posted by chenw on 27 January 2014 - 05:41 PM

No idea, but with the supreme jot, you DO have the option of stopping at either 10 or 15 skills (which is basically the normal and master requirements) and get the corresponding reward. I have not tried the others out yet.

Hope this helps!

#5473090 7-Jan-2014 - Player-Owned Ports - The Next Journey

I am starting to think that the spices in those voyages are really supposed to be Koi Scales.

Inb4 Trio offers 50 pearls and 50 spices...

51% into next zone myself, going to send some long distance ones tomorrow.

Also, i think there may be some use with the Off hand DL darts, since OH rarely gets fired at all under normal circumstances, it may prove to be a viable substitute for an Asc off hand (since you only lose 24 damage out of over 1500).
