  1. Great idea, this basically cuts through all the "hey, are you still selling that ___ you mentioned on the forum?" "no soz" crap so you actually know when somebody is selling something, when they actually have it, and when they're ready to sell.

I'm failing to see how this will hurt merchanting, I guess there will still be some spur-of-the-moment buyers who merchants will be able to make money off of because they're not willing to walk to the GE. And there's people who are just ignorant to how much the price of a certain item dropped and willingly pay for the merchanter's profits.

Since that's basically what merchanting is, buy low from desperate people, sell high to desperate people.

Here's to hoping the Grand Exchange isn't some sort of lightning-speed race, I wouldn't like to see every time I move my mouse to buy an item it was nabbed by someone else because it was such a great deal. That could be problematic once someone has bought out all the good deals and is now selling everything at an inflated price.

  2. Well it looks like they've learned from their mistakes, leaving domain names like "runescape millions" was not a good idea... I assume they don't really appreciate people taking advantage of really really worthless Runescape players like that(there is no "get rich" scheme, I assume the books teach you how to get off your [cabbage filter!] and runecraft, or merchant, more likely) but don't really have any legal grounds to tell them to cease and desist... so instead they demand that all Runescape pictures be removed from the sites.

Mechscape sounds like fun, but that model is the exact opposite of cool. He's too fat and round, cool mechs have to be more anime-proportionate and edge-y.

Strange they don't have Mechtips. =p

    That's cause they like us.

  3. Runescape...

R is for the way you Run at me...

    U cuz U the only 1 i see...

N is very very Next to ordinary...

E is Even more than anyone that you adore...

RUNE was made for me and you...

    SPONGE BOB ftw

    Umm what?

He's parodying a song by Nat King Cole called L-O-V-E. Spongebob didn't make that up.

At first I didn't understand what "Runescape" meant.. I noticed it was also Run Escape but then I thought that was a stupid idea.

I guess it does just mean Magic World, basically Runescape is a tale of a world (with unknown origins) where three men rose to power (and became gods somehow. This is why I don't believe in polytheism!), created magics locked away in stones called runes, and then people started doing stuff. Four ages later you are born.

According to Barbarian Assault, they provide runes because these were the runes "blessed to us by the gods" that we are right to use, and runecrafting is sinful.. I guess runes are still made out of rune essence and crafted but apparently it's disrespectful towards the Runescape gods if you make them yourself.

  4. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your main, but I think one of the things that makes the holiday items so much fun is.. well, the truth is it makes us feel superior. Who doesn't like having something that others don't and never will get?

The oldest item I have is the yo-yo, and until most of the 100+ players quit it's still not a super-rare holiday item but I like to occasionally pull it out and show off my dog-walkin' skills. Also I get a lot of kicks in f2p using the easter ring and then shouting "omg! easter egg! I'm rich!". Everyone comes running in all directions..

  5. I don't mean to plug in any other ideas but maybe the Quest cape could be in relation to a Music/Adventuring/Achievement Diary/miniquest/minigame cape. Having a 99 skill cape would not trim the quest cape, but having one of the capes listed above would. Miniquest would mean completing all sidequests and hidden updates(Ghostly Robes, Shadow Sword, I forget the rest).

If any of these capes seem to easy to get, I guess there could just be no cape for those miscellanious subjects and then your Quest cape would get trimmed.

  6. Simple, make f2p require e-mail to make an account, it seems that about 30% of f2p'ers dont have email, thats is at least, there might be more.

If it does happen, Ill be happy, f2p will be actually increased a bit in maturity, I hope.

That would be pretty interesting. Make them require a unique email too, and you might just eliminate some lazier macroers too.

Does it take a really mature person to figure out how to make a Yahoo! email?

Also this goes against Jagex's whole "we will never contact you through email" thing.

F2P, in my opinion, is a filter where people try to either learn how Runescape works and where they fit in or spend a week in Lumbridge begging and then quit. If they choose the former path, they may eventually become a member and get to hang out with other cool people like me. If they take the latter path they'll probably be looking back 2 years from now and saying "geez i'm glad I wasn't hanging out with those nerds! I'm gonna go call my girlfriend. In real life.", unless they act like they do in Runescape in real life(gf plz? 2 hard! i need free stuff).

Lots of people think Runescape is free. F2P isn't even worth playing unless you just really REALLY enjoy rewardless pking, think of nonmembers as just a demo for the real, less shameful to talk about in front of peers, Runescape.

  7. Rememeber this was Medevil Time not modern day 2007.

They didn't have guitars they had harps at most.

    No Support!

    ..why no guitars?

Apparently SachikiNimo is a little confused, because that's an acoustic guitar but she refers to it as an electric.. there are acoustic-electric guitars that are just louder, but it doesn't look like it's hooked up to an amplifier. >_>

I don't see why (acoustic) guitars can't be in Runescape, unless a guitar made out of wood, bone, metal and steel strings is too advanced for a civilization of air balloons, Elemental Workshops, and Blast Furnaces..

Not that I think we should be able to run around with iPods and Guitar Hero controllers. That part was kind of funny.

Also I suggested in an earlier music topic that playing music could support people in combat, skilling, or just do fun and silly things.

There are Lyres in Relekka, yes, but if you try to play it, it just says "I don't know where I'd begin to play this..". If you enchant it, it's a one-time teleport to Relekka if you play it. Also I think you play it like once in the Fremennik Trials quest, but I don't remember very well.

Also I heard something about drums and cowbells in The Cold War. But then I had to do Garden of Tranquility and it's boring, so.. I'll do that later.

    BTW:

    bard.gif

    :D

  8. Jagex covered too broad of an area in each skill without putting enough detail in. now they're going to be shafted when they try to update skills because things aren't going to fit well.

Crafting covers way too many things, Pottery and Tailoring(including Threadwork, for bs and such)could be two seperate skills.. I agree.

Also an example of a too specific skill is Firemaking. Maybe it could be updated to be Pyrotechnics/Fireworks?

EDIT: The only two skills left to make ever, IMO, are Bard/Music/Rhythm(play instruments, or combine with agility to add a rhythm of music to your fighting.. it's hard to dance-fight in armor though) and Summoning(self-explanatory).

Summoning has a better chance since Bard has to do with music, and a lot of people prefer to play Runescape while listening to their own music so they would have to make music very visual. Most everything in Runescape except music can be depicted with imagery...

    EDIT AGAIN: or Sharane's ideas..

Tailoring - I mean seriously, rangers have crafting to make armour, meleers have smithing while mages are left with none.

Riding - Not a trained skill perse, though it does involve non-riding requirements such as a set amount of money and a combat level.

Machinery - How big are they going to make the already-huge crafting skill? I know a lot of engineer-oriented items are being put in there too like the toys.

  9. Welcome to REAL Runescape, then.

I don't see what you would want to go back to F2P for, there's not a whole lot of fun things to do in P2P that don't require a little bit of work with member's skills and items.

For example, Castle Wars is good fun but you'll get pwned if you're only fighting in Full Rune. All dragon weapons aside from the spear and axe require a quest to use so you'll probably have to do some member's quests which usually means a few member skills.

Treasure Trails is understandable since you want some f2p items to bring back with you to show what you did in P2P, but most good clue scrolls require some basic skills and knowledge of major questing areas around Runescape.

Once you go P2P you'll never want to go back. If you can find a way to pay for P2P for a long period, I suggest you do it.

  10. Wtf? You're giving ninjas ddp++'s and pirates only get scims? At least give whips to pirates... ten lashings at sunrise.

Clearly pirates should get some sort of hack that enables them to use cannons against other players, and force half of the ninja team to kill the other half, because ninjas are losers that fight amongst themselves.

    Imba, and Ninjas suck.

Read below. Other options are Longswords(d long...), an anchor, cutlass, crossbow..

  11. There's always been a worldwide disagreement on which is cooler: a pirate, or a ninja.

For those who are uninformed, Pirates are eye-patch wearing, peg-legged, accented people of the sea who pillage every town they come across and wage war with other pirates. Since the dawn of time they have been rivals with ninjas.

In case you have not heard, Ninjas are stealthy predators of the night. Usually dressed in pitch-black head to toe, they kill their targets(as assassins, usually) by poison, a dagger in and out of someone's neck, or sometimes unfortunate accidents that the ninja may have had something to do with. These warriors of the dark detest pirates.

Now, the time has come(or maybe tomorrow, or maybe never) to wage a great battle that will hopefully decide who the true victors are, though it may never settle the arguement of pirates vs. ninjas.

    ABOUT:

Teams will be set up, and players may voluntarily join either one, but switches may be negotiated if one team is obviously at an advantage.

Uniforms to identify eachother will be as follows:

    ninjaspiratesnb3.gif

    Pirates

    -Pirate Shirt

    -Pirate Leggings

-Eyepatch(pirate hat if you don't mind losing it!)

    Weapons:

    -A scimitar of any kind

    -A longsword of any kind

    -A cutlass

    -A Barrelchest Anchor

-Crossbow(this creates a weird effect with pirate leggings)

or any other obvious pirate weapon.

    Ninjas

-The outfit will be as shown above, it is made out of mostly player kit clothing. It costs 1,000 gold to change your outfit at Thessalia's clothing store in Varrock. If you can get Rogue clothing, that is an excellent alternative.

    -Facemask

    -Defender(not a necessity)

    Weapons:

    -A dagger of any kind

    -Any throwing knives

    -Claws of any kind

    -fists if you're good enough!

or any other obvious Ninja weapons I forgot about.

Mages and rangers are welcome, but if you mage please don't bring a staff.

I guess this would be held in the Wilderness. Both teams would start in Edgeville, but they would split up, and the Pirates will start by the shore and the Ninjas will make a base out of one of the old castles/ruins in the area. Strategies on who approaches who is up to the teams to decide.

Each player on each team will carry a single noted item, to be decided and probably provided before the battle. Once you defeat an enemy, you may remove this item from their corpse and you will use it to keep count of all the enemies you've defeated.

    ---

Does this sound interesting? I thought it would be a good idea..

I don't think I would make a great host, I guess it would be on the weekend and I usually have lots of plans come up then.

  12. the mining animation is changed too!

The animation has been like this for a rather long time, It wasn't hidden either, it was mentioned in an update in the front page. :-k

    RAAAAAAGH

The mining animation HAS changed, and it was NOT on the front page(unless it was hidden underneath the new Silverlight story). It still looks like the pickaxe weighs 500 pounds but while I was mining pure essence I noticed that the player does not follow through with the swing as much, he kind of stops 3/4s of the way then pulls it back, then goes for another swing.

If you don't believe me you can try it for yourself.

But of course if you haven't mined about 5k essence ever since the first mining animation update, it might not be noticable to you. It just surprises me that nobody here seems to have mined at all today. :/

  13. This is a great joke. No kidding, unlike some of the crap in this topic.

Not yours though, truffoo. That's genuine hilarity right there. A comedy goldmine.

    ANYWAYS:

    Streaking in falador.

Some non-tifer comes to join us since he has the Varrock Body 1 also. So I light a fire, and start cooking some pike while standing facing him so it looks like I'm doing something.(I cannot describe it)

He says "WHOA! What are you doing!?"

I say "I'm cooking pike. What were YOU thinking?

    ...

He says "oh. well I was thinking tuna"

    :D

  14. And seeing as there are 15 godswords in the game.... :-w

(Yes, I know there are more than 15 swords in the game, but they are so rare that no one will pk with them. End of story.)

Most people who pk with godswords don't skull, they just walk around and hope someone is stupid enough to attack them.

I still don't see why you can't pray to protect it.. I guess prayer can be drained many ways but a few extra prayer potions can come in handy.

Also, I feel mage is underpowered because I am a level 70 mage(82 combat though) and I battle people around my level, and whenever I try to ice burst/rush them it frequently misses, and if I manage to hit them once they switch to range and I get shot through the heart more times than Bon Jovi. Or they just put on d-hide and I have no hope of hitting them at all with ice burst/rush.

I should actually say I "was" a level 70 mage instead of am, I switched to Melee. >_>

  15. Great idea. They should introduce an idol spot for equipment, but while it is equipped the idol will be displayed in whatever place you would put it and that equipment slot will not be able to function. Like it wouldn't actually go in the weapon slot but it would be displayed as a weapon to other people, and you couldn't wield anything else.

    Also..

    Saradomin/Guthix/Zamorak fusion? plz?

Some fusions shouldn't even change your appearance at all, you could just use a different animation(for example, a cat-fusioned character could try to walk on all fours or just assume some sort of cat pose.

Also, definitely make it so that it's either a full transformation or none at all for certain animals.. We don't need furries in Runescape.

I would support this 100%. It sounds like fun.

  16. Well, I've been thinking, and...

We all know how "effective" the censor is, and it's rare that you ever get a cuss through unless you 1337speak it, spell it so badly nobody can tell what it is, or type it like

    T

    H

    I

    S

So what's the point of reporting players for offensive language if nothing gets through? I guess people are offended by "**** *******"?

People should only be worthy of being reported when they managed to bypass the censor, that way there's no unjust punishment in case somebody happens to say something that was not offensive or rule-breaking in any way but still got censored.

    Seriously, what's the point?!

  17. did you know that repeatedly posting on your thread doesnt get you more posts? take into example tintin's post number at the begining, 137, and compare it to his latest one where it is STILL 137.

    Is this a joke?

If you make a post, and then change your profile after(in any way. get another post, edit your signature, edit your avatar, change your location, etc.) the information will have changed in the post that you made.

If I made a post, then changed my avatar, the new avatar would be displayed in the old post anyways.

EDIT: Unless you specifically checked what his posts were when he started the topic. In which case I still think you're mistaken :)

  18. Nicest thing I've ever done.. I don't know, I gave a friend some rune armor, I've had a drop party with splitbark stuff and weapons. Keep in mind it's hard to be generous when you don't have much to give in the first place. :/

Nicest thing someone's ever done for me.. Some guy from BA let me borrow his rune kite for Wave 10 because I died the first time we tried it. This girl traded me and offered her sara kite but I didn't accept. Apparently she thought I was nice enough to trust with that but I refused to take it.

  19. Pyrolikespie

    7b0/7bo, I forget which

    Pretty lame.

Accounts should be deleted at MAXIMUM after a year of inactivity. I know it seems nice when you've got a cool username but if you don't use it you're just depriving some other guy of actually getting to display his username.

I'm just so sick of seeing Cloud9654s and marksman432s running around.. I am squatting on a few names myself but none of them are very good in the first place anyways, and if someone were to ask me to delete them I wouldn't care.

Also, I would like to know who the hell is making "Zezima" clone accounts. Seriously who wants to be named AFTER Zezima? I can see some account scamming going on if the name is very identical(One time at a forum some guy was named zeldfan, everyone thought it was zeldafan, including me) but seriously wtf.

  20. runescapebardub9.gif

Well, since there has been lots of fuss on what the f7 tile is, I was discussing new possible skills and I think I had a good idea:

    Bard Skill

Overview: A skill that effects combat level, but is outside the combat triangle. Just so there are no unattackable lvl 3s in the wilderness using awesome heal songs on their friends.

Bards use instruments as short range musical(magical)/melee weapons to deal less than average damage, but depending on their instruments, they can play songs that have various effects on themselves, selected targets and friendly units surrounding them.

Bards can play songs depending on their level, which allows them to equip the item that plays the song. This has a special meter or has a Right Click "operate" option in case you place it on the ground.

First off: the weapons. The "lyrics" are text that are displayed while a player performs these songs as if the player were saying this, similar to preaching from a prayer book.

Bass: a contrabass or doublebass, whatever you prefer to call them. Made using crafting and a maple log and iron bar. Works like a cannon as you place it on the map, and then walk up to it and play it.

It's song is the War March, this will raise all friendly players in the 3x3 area's strength by 20%. This fully drains the special bar.

    Lyrics:

"Filled with rage by the smells of dead

Unsheath your swords and begin bloodshed!"

Bamboo Flute: Self explanatory. Dropped by tribesmen, and made by fletching. Requires two hands to wield.

It's song is the Calming Tune, this will make any monsters targetting the recipient(the bard or any person of his choice with aid turned on) stop attacking for five to ten seconds. 50% drain.

Lyrics: There are no lyrics. It's a flute.

Bone Flute: Dropped by Dorgeshuun Goblins or bought from one of their stores. Requires both hands to wield.

It's song is the Stealth Serenade, this will make the recipient not be attacked by any monsters for ten seconds. Also, using a bone dagger or bone crossbow special while this is in effect will be very effective. 33% drain. Two handed.

Lyrics: It's hard to sing and play a flute at the same time, unless you are trying to sing "toot toot toot toot toot".

Drum: Lowest level bard weapon. Bought from stores or made with a log and cowskin. Two handed.

It's song is the Focus Beat, anybody in the 3x3 area practicing a harvesting/crafting skill(anything non-combat) will recieve a 10% boost in that skill. Practicing refers to anything that gets you experience. 25% drain.

Lyrics: Again, no lyrics. Singing to a drum beat just sounds lame.

Bronze Bell: Made with several bronze bars by smithing. It's song is the Healing Harmony, which restores the target's health by 10 hp. 25% drain.

    Lyrics:

    "Wounds healed and bandages placed

Feel the sensation of healthy grace"

Gold Bell: Made with several gold bars by smithing. It's song is the Restorative Rhyme, which heals everyone in the 3x3 area by 20 hp. 25% drain. Also, this will heal any poisons.

    Lyrics:

"Blood not spills, your scars are no more

Sickness is cured and no longer is gore"

Guitar: Made with mahogany logs and a steel bar by crafting. Two handed. It's song is the Runner's Riff. Everyone in the 3x3 area's run energy is restored. 100% drain.

Piano: Unlike the other instruments, it can not be wielded and unlike the Bass, it can't be carried around. With the piano, you have to come to it. I suggest that a chaos cathedral is added as a multicombat area so someone migt actually pk there. It's song is the Mourning Lullaby, any opponents who have a stat that they themselves potted to increase(no using butterflies on them to make this happen to them) in any way will take 10 damage.

Beat-up guitar: Same ingredients but lower level to make. steel bars.

2 handed, it's song is the Tramp's Shanty. Creates 5 beers in the inventory and 8 on each space surrounding you. 100% drain. Used in a quest or just for fun, I guess.

    Lyrics:

    "If I had some alchohol

I don't take sips, I'd chug it all

If I had to go and buy that beer

I'd ask for it from the players here"

For combat, each instrument can be used as a weapon by melee or sound(magic) using two different styles. Only melee experience is gained from "attacking", though.

When using the sound(magical) attack or performing any song, if you try to use it on someone wearing earmuffs it will not be effective.

    Armors: Coming soon.
