  1.

I hit my brother in the face and he filled a sink up with blood because of it. Didn't pass out, either.

Didn't think of going to the hospital? :?

Risk getting into trouble over saving your brother's life. I don't think so.

    Well he was fine afterwards.

He shouldn'tve eaten the last ice cream snickers.

  2. Seventh grader ... well unfortunately at that age, not many people will take you seriously and the staff will probably just discipline you without even listening to your cause.

Which is unfortunate, but especially at a private school, I could see that happening.

Strength in numbers is one of the few advantages you have, and I'd say do everything in your power to get as many people as possible (even teachers) to go along with you. Good luck.

  3. First three months ...

Buy my parents a ridiculously nice house and give them money so they can retire.

Pay off the rest of my sister's tuition.

Buy myself a house in the country and build a recording studio.

Go the hell to Best Buy and Guitar Center and have a day of it.

Well, there are obviously different variables that need to be factored in, but I'd say that parents these days should give their kids a little bit more freedom to do whatever it is that they want. And if it's bad, they learn from their mistakes.
Do you have a reason for this? Or are you just saying this because society is telling the times are changing and so should people?

Society can be a very good thing, unless you allow destructive values in.

I personally am not going to fight society when I have kids but I'm going to make sure that my kids realize that society CAN be wrong (I know I said it, sue me.)

Well, it worked with me. I mean, of course my parents would tell me that drugs were bad when I was growing up, and to stay out of trouble and whatnot, but the fact that they didn't tell me who I couldn't hang out with, what music I couldn't listen to or what movies I could watch for the most part (couldn't watch R films until I was 11 or 12), and disciplined me when I did something wrong or bad, I think I've come out of it pretty level-headed with a realization that you can be whatever it is that you want to be, and to dream big. And sometimes your dreams don't come true the way you want them to, or even at all. But what's wrong with trying?

So my reasoning is personal experience.

  5.

If you're going for the sad singer-songwriter emo kind of deal it's good ... if you're into that.

I don't know how far you're wanting to go exactly as a musician or if you're up for challenging yourself with additional arrangements behind the guitar ... but I'd say (if you've got the necessary resources) try and make it stand out amongst all the other songs that deal with the same subject matter.

Ok, Johnny Cash was emo now?

    Go to bed.

It is a sad song, but it is talking about making my life straight again. I'm sick of not leading the life I should.. The song is also not finished, thats why I'm here asking advice. I don't want it to stand out, its my first song, I want to learn from it. Also its my feelings I could care less if my feelings stand out, I just want to show some emotion with my music.

I guess no one on tip.it has ever written a song. But if you have please give me some advice.

    Okay, I'm up now.

You could take it either as a compliment or an insult, really. Do your homework and realize where 'emo' music started off. No, it wasn't in the 90's. Johnny Cash was emo. Claude Debussy was emo. The Beatles, Nirvana, The Clash, any political band out there is emo, if we're going for technicalities. Robert Johnson? Yup. Mozart? Music doesn't have to have lyrics to be emotional, which is exactly what 'emo' is: expressing how you feel from the very bottom of your soul with all the emotion you can.

Your chord progressions are good. I was just asking basically if you were going to keep it only to one guitar and vocals. Of course it's difficult to really tell you an opinion on the song having not heard it, but you never know. You could be writing the next Hey Jude.

Of course I should have been slightly more specific in my first reply, but I was tired and didn't feel like elaborating.

Good luck with the song, mate.

He deserved it, so of course not.

I think he posts on this board but I don't know his name. I'll ask him tomorrow and if he does, I'll have him tell the story.

I dunno mate, a sink full of blood sounds like a life threataning loss if you don't get medical attention. Or was a sink full just an exaggeration?

Well technically it wasn't a sink full of blood, but you couldn't see any of the porcelain.

  7. - Godspeed You! Black Emperor - The Dead Flag Blues

    - The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again

    - ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead - Will You Smile Again?

    - Melt Banana - Shield For Your Eyes, a Beast in the Well on Your Hand

    - Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit (come on, anything that completely revitalizes a dying music scene is worth noting)

  8. He deserved it, so of course not.
