Attention...Recognition and Lies, Which+Why do YOU Seek it?
Yeah, exactly. On the occasions when I would get into a "flamefest" with an incorrect player, I actually had a check-list of behaviors that the other guy would usually go through. It was actually really funny to see how predictable so many people were. The most stubborn, well, fools were usually the ones with some very high stats. (Please, don't start on me for being against "high levels" After all, you don't know where I am ranked ;) ) I suppose that their ego got in the way of their common sense. Lower ranked players usually had enough sense to stop posting and bail out. But some of those higher ranked players would refuse to bail out and would start to really squirm as their feet were held to the fire longer and longer and longer... I don't have my list anymore but it was something like: 1) Player posts an error (usually minor) 2) I post a correction 3) Player makes a post saying that my correction doesn't matter and reaffirms his postition. 4) I post additional details about the truth of the matter 5) Player gets angry, makes lots of typos, and even contradicts himself. Player then makes some changes to the subject at hand and talks about how he is right and starts with personal attacks on how I don't know anything. 6) I point out that Player has changed the subject and is now talking about something else entirely. I also point out the contradictions and personal attacks. 7) Player calms down and then tries a holier than though approach. He realizes he's in a mess and is looking for a way out. Usually at this point, the post has all sorts of non-issue related stuff in it. The Player is trying to divert attention from his original mistake and is trying to focus on a minute non-issue. 8) Usually at this point the Player is not responding to specific points in my posts but rather makes vague rambling statements overall like "You are an idiot and I know it all". I point out that the Player is once again trying to change the subject and that his original mistake still stands. 9) Player either goes beserk and a mod locks the thread (deletes it sometimes) or Players bails out with a comment about "Refusing to talk to idiots anymore" What is consistant about these sorts of encounters is how the Player refuses to face the main issue (ignore questions) and tries to change the subject into something that he can claim to be correct about. Throw in some personal attacks and/or "Holier attitude" and you've got some entertainment... i am sorry, but even if you're right, that is a pretty arrogant post. you're pretty much acting like you're always right. i'm not trying to flame you, but that was extremely arrogant of you to write that.

F2P Drop Party
the problem with putting the party room in f2p is all the beggars. in members, the party room was always empty, so you could go there with your friends and have fun, and only 1 or 2 more people will show up. but in f2p, there are so many people there that's the fun is limited unless you want to give to everyone.

Thoughts on wrong virtual couples and what to do?
i figure if they want to base a relationship on what you say in a game, they are piking people the wrong way, but there's nothing to say it should stop. unless the person is offended, i'm okay with it. just don't ask me out, i'd rather hit on someone in real life while drunk than behind a pixelated character.

Ruining Runescape 1 day at a time :/
what the hell are you talking about? why do you think jagex is banning bots? to stop the selling of gold. they are firmly against it, and won't do it themselves. your arguement is so confused and unreadable, and now you're thinking that jagex is going to sell gold? they might be a buisness, but they still care about the game. if you knew the game's beginings you would see that they care about the game.
-
Ruining Runescape 1 day at a time :/
I'm never complaining about how Jagex handles the bot situation again, hell what would the game be like if people could just buy gold. :( errr, bots are "working" with gold farmers to put up these gold buying sites. basically, ots make most of the gold, the gold farmers make some and deliver anything ordered.

Attention...Recognition and Lies, Which+Why do YOU Seek it?
Isnt that a rather gutsy and quite hypocritical statement to make coming from the person with what is most likely the highest daily post count in all of tip.it forums? that was really just a joke, i don't have carpul tunal. and just because i like to post means i seek attention? i just like chatting i guess, but it really distracts me from runescape.... Yes! Actually yes it does. Surely you have to realise by now that there are varying degrees of Attention. A person that holds up a bank with hostages inside is surely going to get alot more attention then someone who posts alot on these forums...you know this right? That being said, even though you might not intend for that to be your reason for posting alot it still could be a hidden motive for the reason you post alot on these forums, that being that you seek attention. Afterall, ingame while playing runescape there is no kind of way to track the amount of posts players make between themselves while talking. Take that and the fact that you "Just like chatting" and one would think that you should love replying and talking and making new friend ingame and you would think you would also have a full friends list. As you have previously stated you keep your friends list around 50 people of which that way at least a few are always on that way you have a person or 2 to talk to. With those few people that you talk to you are getting their attention each time you reply to each other so your still getting attention either way you look at it, on these forums or ingame. Which as you can clearly see brings you to seeking / having sought attention at one point in this game. If its not true, then please by all means post an example to back up your case in which all people dont desire attention. This is a classic Example of the glass being half empty or half full, either way you look at it it is still the same thing, and to some extent people always have and most likely always will continue to be hardwired and born with a desire to get attention. You might as well have just saved yourself the trouble of typing anything past what i bolded, afterall that little bit thats bolded alone disproves you and proves my statement correct at the same time. No matter how much or how little of it you seek, seeking attention is still seeking attention. i suppose you're right, on everything except the top comment. i don't garner attention when i'm cahtting with my friends, as i'm talking about things that nobody else would want to talk about, that's why i made these friends. they like to talk about the unordinary, and these conversations usually make people ignore us because we are talking about it. i like to talk about the unordinary because the mainstream "z0mg rares are noobish" just bores me. i'm not trying to attract attention, i'm trying to have an enjoyable conversation. as for these forums, if an enjoyable topic is made, as they are frequently, i will post there. or, if i see something that i disagree with, i will post why i disagree. although the latter is suppose does seem like garnering attention, the former is not. i suppose i get what you're saying now. and the more i think about it, the more it seems logical...

I can't believe how incredibly stupid people are. They think that making a petition will make yews cheaper. :-s he doesn't have time for 1k yews yet he has time for a 99? 1k yews takes me a day at most.... while a 99.... well.... hasnn't happened yet :D

Mass autoer ban that wasnt announced?
autoers were getting into the 90s? wow... that's a scary thought.... i thought they had so many sharks and yews because there were so many bots, but maybe it was because they were at so high levels. If you look up autoers im sure youll see alot of them are already in the 90s if not 99. i thought they always got into the 70-80s before they got banned, but 90-99... that's just ridiculous. pretty soon we're gonna see bots in 99 in runecrafting too :ohnoes: An autoer fishs for around hours a day, im sure its not 24/7 because thats too obvious and after around 3 days of constant playing Jagex watches you closely. After about a month of autoing like that about any pure would have 99 in its stat. hmm, playing at 18 hours a day for a month(31 days) would be 551 hours, but it has been said in a thread about training fishing that it takes over 1000 hours fishing sharks for a 99. and all the autoers with 76 fishing fish sharks, so they'd have to play for 2 months at that rate to get 99 fishing.... 2 months isn't much...

and its going to cost us more in the long run. Higher game cost Jagex to busy trying to make the game anti bot. (crappy updates) Free server taken down dew to bandwith cost of overgrowth of botters each day. its costing RS alot to keep all these servers running. Every compeny trys to make a good profit each year. if you know your not going to make your net sales then you cut or raise sales Cut Free servers Raise Game price... so basically, you're a moron who thinks jagex is going to take away f2p. get real. f2p attracts members, by giving them few features and enticing them with more. if there was no f2p, the p2p economy would crash, as i hate to regret it, but a lot of supplies come from f2p. if there was no f2p, nobody would be able to experience the game before buying it, which would make people hesitant about getting it, thus reducing the amount of members. basically, jagex isn't going to take away f2p, and it's impossible for jagex to completely get rid of bots, as they keep making new accounts and there's no way to stop them from doing so.

actually, wakka, it's giving gold farmers jobs, the autoers are independant from human contact except when supplies are being picked up from them. so it gives gold farmers a job, but autoers do nothing but ruin the economy. but there are plenty of jobs for the chinese to do anyway, as they are treated like slaves. they are confined to a pre chosen room when they are not working, yet they have to pay for it, so they are making about the equivalent of $5 us dollars a year.

Attention...Recognition and Lies, Which+Why do YOU Seek it?
oh, come off it aqua. i said that because last time i played rs that's how it was. anyway, it loooks like now the definition has changed so i'm giving up the old one. Ill "come off it" when you admit you were wrong to begin with. Ive played since before the wilderness and that definition was NEVER used in the context you used it in. You saying it changed is only a way of getting around you being wrong. true, but i also came across that definition in f2p, i didn't think that the definition would change between p2p and f2p. that was the opinion in f2p when my account never became a member, i spent quite a lot of time in the wilderness hearing those things, even if i didn't pk. I was f2p untill 2004, and spent nearly all of my time in the wilderness. Just the fact that no one but you has supported the definition makes me doubt you. And the way you worded your last response, you admited to being wrong, but then you try to back it up as though your still saying your right. Im done, im going play a good game of Runescape. i said i was wrong about the p2p definition, and probably the f2p definition now. i pretty sure f2p and p2p had different views on it before, because all f2pers got out of attack was rune, while p2pers could get whips, therefore f2pers didn't get their combat levels up just to wield rune, while p2pers got their combat up to wield a whip, an awesome weapon. that's, i'm pretty sure, why we have different definitions.

-.- Shut up. well, this has been discussed repeatedly. true, but those thread have died out and were more about if someone could than how they could. this is about the latter. besides, it hasn't been discussed in a while, and i don't think anyone would appreciate one of those threads being bumped.

Attention...Recognition and Lies, Which+Why do YOU Seek it?
But only if you let other people know about it. Even if it's one person, it's still attention. Yes, provided that you actually let someone else know about it. Is it attention that I get when I level mining from 85 to 86 and then tell no-one about it? You're still doing it unconciencly(SP) though. Not a whole lot of people have 86 mining, and even if you didn't plan it, people looking up highscores or look at 85+ Miners, they'll see you. Attention is just letting other peole know about you, which no matter what you do, you will. But this makes me rethink of the title "attention-seeker" to "attention-gathering". Getting attention doesn't HAVE to be planned, we're getting attention right now in this discussion. I know I'm not doing this for attention, and neither are you, we're just trying to prove our points. But we'lre still getting attention to ourselves. Not for everyone. Reaching a goal in a skill could be a means of earning money. After all, Yew chopping autoers didn't reach their levels to get "attention" As I said in an example in my post, it isn't always directly for attention. Well, your overall message appears to be something like "people level for attention" I think that many players feel that leveling is just what needs to be done to reach your goals. Um...goals ARE leveling, since you obivious need to raise levels to reach a goal. Regardless, you're still getting attention to yourself at reaching a goal. You might get this goal for attention or because it's fun. Even if you do it for fun, either a small part of you is doing it for attention as well, or peple will notice you and your new skill (such as a Blog) which brings attention to yourself. Perhaps to allow faster training. I'm sure that we both know that RS has a lot of skill grinding to do and buying certain raw materials can vastly speed up training. And again, why would you want to train skill? To get an 99? Goals? More money?[/hide] I agree people play the game for fun, but don't you feel perhaps a small portion on yourself to get some attention? Yes? Then you agree with me. No? Then you're going to get attention even if you didn't plan it or want it. If you try to improve the game, people would reconize you. If you get levels for fun, then people will reconize you. It's not so much as 'attention-seeking' as I foolishly said before, but more of 'attention-gathering'. Even if you don't want attention, you're still going to get it. Paw said it pretty simply and nicely too, read his post too. :) And as Reb Drag the Science Guy said, people need attention. Soicalizing is getting attention to yourself, and we know humans can't live and normal life without socializing. But overall, people who say they don't want attention, you're pretty much trying to be an 'outcast', and thus giving you the attention you somehow didn't want. true, i am getting attention just trying to better myself, i won't deny that. but druminator said that all people seek attention, which isn't true. i neither seek attention, nor go out of my way to avoid attention. in fact, i usually have more attention than i want, i'm the kind of guy that thinks more than 5 friends is having too many, because then you can't keep up with them all at once and you can't all talk to each other. so i designed the way i make friends in runescape around that, eventually i have about 50 friends, and about 2-10 are on at all times. i didn't make friends according to when they get on runescape, but i made just enough friends so that math shows there will be 5 friends on at all times. once i reached that number of freinds, i stopped trying to make more. that doesn't mean i cahnged my personality to be meaner, simply means i don't ask someone to be a friend after we had a good chat or see each other a lot and help each other. so, i guess i do seek attention, but i seek very little, and try to avoid getting more if i don't have to go out of my way to do it.

Mass autoer ban that wasnt announced?
the new random event was made to get autoers stuck in the randoms, thus disabling them. another foolproof way to get the autoers is on those random events with questions, continually bringing out new questions every month or two. Them being stuck in randoms flagged that they were a macroer. P.S. They are coming out with new questions every 2 months? I never knew that! So good job JAGeX. =D> actually i'm suggesting it.

Attention...Recognition and Lies, Which+Why do YOU Seek it?
god...dunno about others but you certainly want your attension when you'll grow up a bit and see more of the world around you you'll speak differently.....or not Off-topic:your sig realy suits you he already said he likes attention. and he is grown up unlike you. he's speaking from a philosophical standpoint, i wouldn't be surprised if he sat in a library and read in the philosophical section with those ideas(no offense). and the fact that you wrote "bla bla bla" certainly shows that you are immature, and probably seek attention yourself while denying it.

Attention...Recognition and Lies, Which+Why do YOU Seek it?
I usually only respond that way when the person uses words like "all" or "everyone" or "best". Many players make statements that are just too broad and need some clarity thrown in for better understanding. And that, you know, that's where the "gentleness" thing comes in. Were they really trying to deceive others or were they just ignorant about their facts? I once had a heated discussion on this forum with a player that thought that any player that made an incorrect statement was a liar. He just couldn't understand that intent made all the difference. Sorry  :-w you don't already have carpul tunel with those stats druminator? i got it playing oblivion for a week trying to figure out how to make a level 52 character....
