  1. I think Jcink sounds better. But then there's is also forumer.com. It like the best place start out a small forum. Its simple to use, and actually is the same format as the Tip It Forum.

    forumer hosts phpbb, like tipit, but that isn't that special. It happens to be a very bad host, not reliable at all.

  2. google "free host with php", you will get many results. a good bit of them are [bad], but eventually you may find something. download phpbb from phpbb.com, upload, run install.php/config.php? then google "phpbb extend rank color mod", follow the directions and you're done!

  3. all you really need are books/internet guides. Books tend to be easier on the eyes, but internet guides are free and eco-friendly. Up to you, but there really isn't much of a need to take a class, unless you tend to have a really hard time learning things.

    as far as what to learn when, for web programing start with html, (then css if you wish), then javascript, then php/cgi, etc. (at least in my opinion)

    for programs and such, just go for it! there isn't enough of a similarity between languages that you should start with an easy one and them move up, though understanding arrays, variables, conditional statements, and loops may help.

    (again, at least in my opinion, I may be wrong... or not...)

  4. Ok, first off the tech guys, are most of the time, idiots.

    Way to insult those of us that actually have a clue. The 3 people that have been helping in this thread DO know what they're doing if you've payed any attention at all to this board. If you had bothered reading the reply's you'd notice blade's suggestion nailed the problem before you decided to throw that piece of blazing opinion out there. :evil:

    I think he meant that the people at tech support hotlines and such, not the people here.

  5. Reply to your post (do not edit the subject or the initial post) to inform others that you've gotten the help & advice you were looking for and how your problem/issue was resolved. Leave the subject and initial post "as is" so those with similar issues can access your thread for the solution.
  6. not sure about caps and spacing, but:

    create your button, convert to button, animate if you wish, and put the following as the button's action (NOT in the button's frames, ie not on the over, down, hit areas, but rather right click and hit action(?) or select and hit f8 (?not sure, I think it's f8, it's been a while)):

    on(Release){

    goToAndPlay(1);

    }

  7. Yah, his dad passed suddenly.. He just got back into town Monday. I am trying to get him back to normal and drawing, But he really needs this week off as well as last week.

    He usually has about 10 pages in back logs for things like this. Most likely next Wed we will be back to normal pages.

    So... what happened to that backlog?

  8. english plz..... :-s

    lol.

    sorry, I just had to do that.

    ISP == Internet Service Provider, like Verizon,

    OS == Operating System, like windows 95

    router == that box connected to the phone/cable line

  9. alright,

    I've set up apache, registered the domain, pointed the dns to a ddns program, the router is set for port forward 80 and 443, apache works from 127.0.0.1, and from 192.168.2.x, and even from the domain name on that computer, but from other computers it shows "cannot connect to server". Any ideas what's wrong?

    it's running apache 2.2.6, windows xp, and a Belkin F5D5230-4 router, if you need that.

  10. you don't see too many people using python these days...

    most websites use either php or cgi (asp is becoming popular, for whatever reason).

    cgi and php are both good, though cgi isn't an integrated language, if memory serves.

    All the languages are pretty much the same with image speed, as they are just calling the image, the words are different but the call is the same.

    It is better to resize etc on upload rather than each time it is called, it sames quite some time. You may also want to have only some images showing at once, a few thousand takes up a lot of room, and time.

    Dynamic bits generally are server side, unless you use javascript, which isn't good for more than basic tasks.

    You can shrink the images when you want to show them, but again, that causes the wait.

  11. I once did it... If I remember correctly you would type 192.168.1.1 into a browser's address bar, and there would be an option there somewhere, though it varies based on the router... I can't remember if it is the external or internal IP address that you change from there... Are you using an open proxy or other indirect connection? is it possible someone else used your IP address? if it was only one site...

    how many sites were you unable to register to?

  12. @cruiser:

    I don't suppose you'd like to say what was missed?

    People do tend to make mistakes, it's part of human nature.

    Sspecially when they're half asleep! :-w

    Snapping at them does NOT make the situation any better. :shame:

    @Bnaped:

    Maybe you could clarify what you mean by "messed up". There are things other than executables than can cause problems, varying from lag to crashes to other things.

  13. I'm at my friends house and his computer is pretty messed up.

    What else do i say?

    I don't see anything very bad, but I have made the suspicious ones bold.

    You can tell him he has too many things running :wink: .

    Other than those few things, there is nothing odd I have found. If there were some way for you to send me the log file I could run it through some more tests...
