  1. I'm a programmer, so I can reply ...

I dont see any problem with memory to store level.

Most of up to date compiler support 32-bit integer variables, even if not, they definetly support so former 16-bit integers (maximal value 32k if signed, 65k if unsigned). Well at least if Jagex used shorter intergers in Runescape, minimal possible amount then is 255 (1 byte), which means endless possibilies to train :)

  2.

According to my calculations, he could be 113-114 smithing lvl - is it not amazing ?

your calculations are flawed and you are an idiot.

You wrong my young friend, I'm not an idiot ;)

If you would move your pink (you know what) and look at experience list at skill calculator (right here at http://www.tip.it/runescape ), you could notice (with apropriate mind skill) that experience increasing according geometrical progression. Its not hard to obtain coefficient: 1.104. This means that with each level its requires 1.104 times more experience to advance next level.

Taking it into consideration, we can obtain next formula, which gives XP:

    formula28ie.png

    Where

    N - level

B - basic experience (to get second level); B=83

    K - coeffisient of geometrical progression; K=1.104061

I wrote simple program which calculates XP for each level and prints it. Here is continuation for levels after 99:

    97 10,692,825

    98 11,805,614

    99 13,034,201

    100 14,390,636

    101 15,888,224

    102 17,541,651

    103 19,367,136

    104 21,382,583

    105 23,607,759

    106 26,064,489

    107 28,776,869

    108 31,771,502

    109 35,077,759

    110 38,728,069

    111 42,758,234

    112 47,207,782

    113 52,120,354

    114 57,544,133

    115 63,532,317

    116 70,143,637

    117 77,442,937

    118 85,501,810

    119 94,399,297

    120 104,222,666

Formula gives about 1% error, which I classify to non-integer value of B (at Runescape server)

  3. It seems that you not completely understand me.

I also doubt that you realise amount of work done by rune miners and smithers. Cause as you say "full inventory of rune bars" requires at least an hour of mining, switching between worlds, risking to be pked. And its only to mine rune ores. About rune smithers ... they earn almost nothing, just compare prices for rune ores/bars which they have to buy and weapon/armor which not so fast to sell ...

About your poorness ... I dont mean anything abusive, but its your problem. With your 66 fishing level and membership, you could make 200k in a few hours, just catch 1k lobbies at Catherbery and sell them at forum they will be bought at 180-200 each even when raw.

Recurring to high leveled players I would say that they earn not so much, less then they should. Its well known, that most money in Game made by merchants. With all respect to all merchants who perform important social role, I would remind that Runescape was created as skill-based game, and most power should belong to most skilled people.

Unfortunately there is opposite situation, when person with large amount of cash, staying all day at Varrok (often with so called "autotrader" ) able to earn much more money then who got really good skills. All these transform Runescape to money-based game, which means complete distortion of original idea. I think if Jagex would make money based game they could create text-based exchange simulator  I'm not abuse Jagex stuff, they do very much to make Game more playable, I just offer more drastic way, imho

As I said, removing 99's limit should return situation to normal, and people will pay more attention to skills which more intersting than meaningless moneymaking ...

PS: I was merchant myself and I see very well how moneymaking killing spirit of Runescape

  4. Looking at highscore table, its easy to see how many players reached 99 level in most skills and alot of them proceed much futher to 20, 30, 40 mil xp. For instance best smither in game got about 57 mil smithing xp.

According to my calculations, he could be 113-114 smithing lvl - is it not amazing ?

Its definitely huge amount of hard work, which should be rewarded. But whats happening in fact ? Players who got so much xp cannot use it to get richer/stronger/faster etc.

Thats why I propose to remove 99 limit at all skills to allow players develop themself much in future. Just imagine new types of ores to mine, armor to smith, new fishes to catch, new amulets to craft. Game will get new fresh impulse to exist. Cause high leveled players are "gold fund" of our comunity (without any sarcasm) and if they will see no perspective to play and quit, game will become poor.

Maybe someone remeber exiting moments when BlueRose13x got 99 smithing ? It was euphoria, like first human space fly :D

After that break-through all players get Goal - to get Rune 2 handed sword. It was hard to get, I remember it, lol

Dont tell you dont wanna feel it again with new awesome stuff ;)

Now here is my proposal: lets discuss this suggestion from all sides

  5. You want to solve the problem theres only 1 way to do it with out pissing everyone off. Make them more abundant by either having a guy sell them which would only be avaible by completing a huge quest. Or, by having some type of monster drop them. There are only two ways people wouldn't get pissed off and quit. Take this sugesstion to jagex, maybe they'll actually implemet it since they don't like the problem as much as everyone else, but I doubt it.

High price of rare items based on belief of players that they will never dropped again. This explains why they are so desiable and thats why owner of rare item so happy.

We discussing here ways to improve Game. What means improvement ? To make game more pleasant, right ? Ok, lets pretend, that phats and other rares can be bought in general store (or got by drop, its not principal) ... In this case they become most useless items in game, cause they dont give bonuses at all. Of cause, first time all will wear em on, lol. Some one even start to "mining" general stores, collecting phats, in hope that some day they become rare again. But what will happens after ? Newbies dont become more happy, cause everyone can wear it, and phat DONT SHOW YOUR STATUS anymore. At the other side, former ownes of phats will be suffered alot, cause they worked very hard to get em. As a result general amount of happiness in game will be reduced, is it what you want ?

PS: by the way, you ever thought what means phat in addition to richness ? It mean that guy who bought it helped community alot by getting and selling raw materials, food, good weapons and armor and sold it to players who in need. After that he gave all earned money to old noble player and get phat off him. Looking at this side we can say that phat like "medal of honor" to players who hardworked for community. I think its justly.

  6. I'd like to make liltle addition to what I just told

Another problem with Runescape in my mind is that it becomes money based game (opposite to skill based) cause its often when player with low skills have more real power (respect, ability to force someone to do something) then high leveled fighters or workers, cause by huge amounts of money, made by merchanting. Actually I think, its justly, considering real life, cause it allows clever guys to rule. But not here, cause its a Game, and it was desined with supposition that your stats completely define your status, cause it makes game more playable. If Jagex would make money money-based game, it could release text based exchange simulator, lol

Ok, enough idle talking, you may be tied of them, lol

What I propose ? To remove 99's limit of skills and introduce new player made stuff, cause it return skill based sence to Runescape. For instance, highest smithing xp in game is about 56 mil, according my calculations, he could get about 113-114 smithing level if no limit. Just imagine what amasing stuff he could make for community. And of cause its allow high leveled players to make money with there skills, cause nowdays only 1 skill allows to get more money then merchanting - slayer (I mean abyssial whips of cause)

  7. Inflation ... its a big problem ...

What to do with it ??? Lets see at real life ... What does goverment to control inflation ? First of all, its CONTROL AMOUNT OF MONEY. Is it normal when bank of Runescape does not issue any money, but usual player does ? In any normal country its considered as coinage offence, lol

So what should Jagex to do with it ? I dont propose to fobid high alching or selling stuff to stores (when they got unlimited money by the way, lol).

I propose to implement massive money drain from Game. It will definitely drop prices on rares and stabilies other markets. I think it should be taxes on diferrent pleasant services (such as Castle Wars, duels). Also I think that armor and weapons, picks and hatchets should have limited time of life (relatively large though, to allow fighters and workers get profit from fighting, mining, woodcutting etc.). It will be giant stuff drain therefore money drain from Game and also renew status of such hard accessible skills like crafting and smithing (you should agree that its ridiculous that lvl 99 smither or crafter cannot make money with its skills)

  8. actually they MUST be unballanced cause its fundamentally different skills.

For instance why pplz using warrior helm which gives only +5 attack instead wear rune full with +28 (dunno exactly) defence points ?

    Because:

    1. With higher attack lvl monster can be defeated in less time (most important parameter)

    2. Normally player already got about 220 defence points (rune full with kite), with makes each def point less useful

  9. You completely right, Duke about apples and pears

I meant that almost no person in Game who will able to collect say 50k cow hides himself (cause it requires patience far behind human  ), and here merchants serve as buffer, which able to assemble large "assemblies"

  10. to beg money at forums

Seriously use your mind ... if you gonna be raw material collector, then try to get as much as you can then sell all at once. You can get better price if you got alot of materials

Or, if you gonna make money via moster drops (actually not so good for moneymaking unless you got 85 slayer, lol), then try to organize you fightening to produce maximal gp per hour - this means choose monsters close to bank and food sources (actually its better to produce maximal xp per hour)

  11. I think we got right anologue between RL and RS considering raw materials prices 8) .

What reason for buyer who buys large bulk of raw materials ? Right, to get 500k xp (for instance) in skill. How we can call bulk of raw materials then ? I think its a "complete product" 8)

Then amount of raw materials for 50k xp will be called "part" of "complete product". And merchant who "assembling" "complete product" of "parts" will be "assembler", like worker who assembles cars.

This way its understandable why bulk of raw materials costs much more then small amounts of materials (considering per one item of cause). Cause buyers always want to get "car" instead of one "part"

  12. Jagex definitely should remove border of 99 for skills, cause its causes a "pressure" in players minds "why to spend time/money if sometimes I came to limit ?". Limitless game is much more attractive for players then limited

Another reason is award for hardcore players who are faithful to RS.

And third reason is return Game in skill based way - to allow best lvl players earn money with there skills (for instance herblorist with lvl 110 will be able to make ultra str portions 8) and so on)

  13. I got better advice - train your noob, earn some money (there is alot of pplz who offer work, you can easily sell 500 cow hides for 100 gp each), and then fight strong monsters.

Your way getting clue beeing lvl 1 will be very slow cause each AL Kharid warrior will be as black dragon for you

About training - the best way is to fight mosters who got combat lvl 1,5-2 times less then yours, you can fight almost permanently without breaks for running for food ;)

    Good luck wiht clues
