  1. The process is pretty similar here, although im not sure what GCSE and AS are. The test we have to take here in the states is the MCAT and the application process is done through the American medical college applicaiton services (AMCAS) and most is not all medical school require you to apply through AMCAS. Volunteer experience and work experience is not require but im sure it help your application alot.

  2. So medical school applications open on June 5th, and I have pretty much everything in order. Is any one here also applying for medical school? My GPA and MCAT are average to above average and I have a lot of volunteer and shadowing experience so im a little optimistic about my chances. My top choice is the medical in my home state which is ranked pretty well in primary care. I was wondering how you guys choose which medical schools to apply to? Cause your chances drops significantly as an out of state applicant.

  3. If it is the same room I would prefer just laying a cable around the outside of the room than doing it wireless, or better yet run the cable properly under the floor or through the ceiling. Sometimes that isn't possible, and you can't run a cable at all, but most of the time there is a way. As the crow flies my router is about 15 feet from my computer, but after back tracking and wrapping my house (I went outside with it) I ended up using about 95 ft of cat5  .

I was thinking about that when I was setting up the router, but i got too lazy lol

  4. So ive been out of the game for a few years now, not really planning to come back anytime soon. but i just check the hiscore the other day (out of boredom) and my main doesnt have any stats up even though I have 3 99s. did jagex change how hiscore work?

  5. Thanks guys, I went with the i5-2500k after doing some research and got the gtx570 superclocked, which was actually cheaper than the standard 570 with rebate.

The motherboard I went with the asrock extreme4g3 p67 chipset, i wanted the extreme4 cause my case has usb3.0 on the front and i wanted usb3.0 internal headers.

and i ditched the bluray for a dvd drive, was gonna get the cool master evo but amazon had prime shipping so the plus ended up being like $15 cheaper so I just went with the plus.

  6. - You don't need a 2600k for gaming, get the 2500k - it's cheaper

    - With that high of a budget I'd get a 570 or a 6970, whichever suits.

    - Check if the Samsung Spinpoint F3 is cheaper than the caviar black - traditionally the latter is more expensive but they are equal in terms of performance.

    - Get either 4GB (2x2GB) or 8GB(2x4GB) RAM. 16GB is unnecessary.

    - Do you really need the bluray drive? You can ditch blu-ray capabilities for a nice price saving.

    - Don't get a mATX board, go ATX.

I think Ill stick with the 2600k its not too much more expensive and itll cover me for the foreseeable future

its the 570 worth the upgrade from 560? if it worth the $90 price difference I will get the 570 instead.

I guess I dont really need a bluray, seeing as i watch everything on the ps3 anyway.

and is there an ATX motherboard you would recommend? I was also looking at the Asus maximus IV extreme, but it is $100 more expensive

  7. Thanks for all the help guys, took me a little over 2 hours, but its finally put together. set went without a hitch.

So ive decided to build a new computer mainly for gaming, my 3 year old HP computer is having trouble playing some of the newer games and has given me quite a few headaches with BSOD. I wanted to build a mid range gaming PC so it can handle Skyrim, ME3 and Guild wars 2 on max setting so nothing over the top. Now Ive never built a computer and I probably have just above average understanding about computers. My budget is $2000 but of course I want to spend as little as possible. After watching a bunch of youtube videos and looking through a bunch of reviews I finally managed to pick the following parts. So I wanted to get your opinion who probably know alot more about computers than I do about this before I order the parts. Thanks!

**Thanks guys for all the help, this is what im going to go with, will update with picture when they get here next week.

    For Snow's..

Stick as a Sentinel and keep auto-battling for Steelguard and you'll do it. You won't die.

I beat it a while ago, but I still have no idea what I was aiming to do.

Are Eidolons similar to Espers and Aeons, or what?

they are the summons of 13, at least they are useful sometimes, unlike espers in ff12 which i have never used.

btw i hope u enjoy ff13, being a fan of ff12 i can tell you that these two polar opposites in terms of story linearity.

The make you use the first one you get once, so you have to use him.

well of course, other than using it during the story i meant

  9. The classes I was trying to get into were specific to my major. They were art studio classes reserved for art majors. There were not enough spots in the studio classes to accommodate all lower-division art majors. Enough set backs like this could mean spending an extra year in college. And I do try to work my way into classes once the quarter starts but with studio classes where space is tight, demand is high and there are only 18 people in each studio class, it is next to impossible. Squeezing your way into lectures, on the other hand (at least at my uni), is almost always guaranteed to work.

I definitely agree that internships are a great experience. They can be good pay, and as you said, the references/experience that you can tack on a résumé are nice. But at least as far as the pay is concerned, it's probably better to take summer classes and graduate in 4 years than take an internship, graduate in 5 years and pay another year's worth of tuition D: I'm sure you could fit both into a college career though (summer classes one year or two and an internship another year).

@Nick - Yeah California is terrible right now. The UC schools are well known for having a lot of students who can't graduate in 4 years for the reasons that I described.

sorry to hear that, I hope you will have more luck next semester.

  10. I dont really see the need to take classes during the summer, if you take around 15 credits per semester (may be different for your college) you should be fine to graduate in 4 years. i mean summer classes costs more than classes during the semester anyways. I usually work during the summer, internships are great ways to build up your references.

The biggest problem is students not being able to get into classes that they need. For example, I am currently a freshman in college majoring in Art. Because my year has the lowest priority for enrollment, my year enrolls last. For the current quarter (spring quarter), by the time I was able to sign up for classes, every single lower-division art studio class was full so I am taking ZERO art classes this quarter. This is likely to happen again and again through my four years at college. People with higher priority enrollment beat me to enrolling in classes that I NEED to graduate. With enough delays like that, I will not be able to graduate in four years.

Also if you are double majoring (like I will be), summer classes can help spread out the work load.

entry level classes usually fill up very fast, I find the best way to get in them is to email the professor and attend the class even if you cant get it, some people will drop the class after the first exam which opens up spaces. But after your 2nd or 3rd year you should have those problems anymore cause you will be in classes specific to your major and there usually isnt enough student at that level to fill up the roster.

But I only have 1 major so I cant really say anything about double majoring. But I do think internships are more worth while than taking classes, cause not only are u getting paid and some internships pay pretty well, u get really good references from professors or bosses which is really really helpful. Having been in couple internships so far I have to say I already had to ask my previous and current professors for recommendations and references for other internships and volunteering.
