There are many things to learn from RuneScape, but that only goes so far. They make it easy to tell fact from fiction.
-
However, some players became unhappy with the release, because merchanting became almost impossible to do and Jagex controlled the economy, adjusting it accordingly to the demand and supply, rather than the popularity of the item.
"Popularity of the item"? Supply and demand is a basic principle in the market. In all economies, supply and demand is the reason why prices go up and down.
Unfortunately, though, Jagex has it set so that the price of an item cannot change due to having no supply or no demand. Take 3rd age for example; people are willing to pay well into the 50M+ range, and yet the Grand Exchange price reflects its worth as only 5-25M (excluding the kiteshield). Take partyhats as the opposite example; people are willing to sell for well under what the Grand Exchange reflects it as, but still, no change.
As I'm sure you could all imagine trying to buy an item before the Grand Exchange in World 2 Falador, if you weren't getting the item for what you were asking for, you would be most likely to offer more money. The Grand Exchange cannot do that. That is a major flaw that has yet to be fixed.

I was always in World 61 for about a year back as a F2Per, and then I switched to 65 when I became a member. Coincidentally I joined The Gladiatorz, whose home world is also 65.
I recall seeing Lucipher6 around World 61 a lot, he was my RS idol, now look at him, rank 17 overall.

Seven years ago, a younger player was considered to be someone who was 13 to 14 years old. I remember clearly seeing text bashing when someone acted out in a way that was deemed immature. Text like "Omg ignore him, he's some dumb 13 year old," was common. While we were not supposed to share personal information even back then, the rules were much more relaxed, probably due to the fact that the userbase was not yet so huge, and there were a lot of kids making certain that anyone who would listen didn't think that they personally were ONLY 14, because they were 15 thanks and much more mature.
I am current 14, and I am one of the most mature players out there. Age should not be associated with intelligence quotients nor spelling and grammar - there are plenty of people who hide behind their age, afraid to admit that younger people can be much more intelligent.
I've known this guy for a few years now, he's around the age of 20:

Nice third age mage robes.
Hazeel's mark went from the symbol of Zamorak to a giant Z. Interesting, and better looking.

I prefer having the freedom to speak my mind, but it is nice every once in a while to get away from all of the incompetence and flaming that happens in 'scape.
-
This is a thread to ask a question about Summoning - not to discuss how to spell 'realize'.
It's not a glitch, but it sure makes you reconsider your bringing a familiar that fights rather than one with a more consistant and useful effect.

I'm buying 99 cooking, and yes I'm doing it for the cape. It looks nice and has nice stats. Whats wrong with that?
I made 3M getting 99 Cooking, the cape is ugly, and it has stats equivelent to that of an obsidian cape unless you have a second 99.

Unless the new item that's release is a single combat boss it won't be junk traded as people will team it with coinshar, putting the item into the g.e at mid price.
Very good point. I forgot about that. ;)
all that means is a few players will get lucky, and get the item in the ge. THen sell it with junk for many millions more then trade value. Meanwhile, those that did thw work and got the drop get shafted by Jagex incorrect price.
Hmm... I wonder if people who have offers for max get money back if it's put in the GE by CoinShare. That will be the ultimate deciding factor for whether the price moves or not while the junk trading is going on.

The leaf-bladed sword and the top hat are good examples of what happens when a new rare item is released - they set a price that they think is fit, then players, anxious to get the new item, put in offers for maximum price to try to get the new item, causing the price to rocket up. Once players figure out the bonuses and all that jazz, the prices go down slightly.
However, if something as big as a new dragon item comes out and players are willing to pay more than the Grand Exchange prices are, 3rd age is the perfect example of that - nobody sells it through the intermediary called the Grand Exchange, but rather sell it with a lot of junk, and the Grand Exchange price never really goes up, unless some less intelligent player(s) sell it via the exchange thinking that they are getting a good deal.

Runecrafting by far. I'm almost 70+ all stats (only need Thieving, Agility, and Runecrafting), and I don't think I'll ever have the patience to even get Runecrafting to 70. I lost interest in Runecrafting as soon as I had to do multiple trips to level.
Firemaking has to be the second - you "max out" the skill at level 75, and even that level isn't significant in terms of use. Most skills have a main goal you go for apart from the skillcape, Firemaking just isn't one of those skills. One of a kind. Only skill that has no use whatsoever. The only true uses it has is making a fire to cook on (you could just use an everlasting fire or a range instead) and Shades of Mort'ton, which still doesn't qualify as a decent use. At least Cooking and Fletching have uses (Cooking a passive effect of burning less and Fletching has uses up to level 95, I believe).

I now believe that cape the guy is wearing is actually a music achievement cape, it looks a bit like a harp and there is supposedly a music cape now in the item cache for runescape.
edit - it seems easier to spot that there could be a harp on the cape because of a reverse shot from the jagex website:
Indeed!
I was having a little trouble picturing the picture on his cape as a sail boat, but on the other hand, I couldn't figure out what it looked like, but now that you mention the Music Cape, I think it's possible.
I wouldnt understand that skill because it makes no sense, but if i see cape in cache (someone posts a pic) i dont mind
Who said it's a skill? The Quest Cape isn't necessarily a skillcape, but it is a Cape of Achievement. Unlocking all of the music tracks is an achievement as well.

bought 700 chins the very moment the thread appeared, next G.E update, they rose =] \ 8-)
darn my low amount of money to invest with
A good 30k profit right there. :

"Nerfed" isn't a word. Nor is "nerf" (other than the brand).
Perhaps you were unlucky.

If you get a 99 just to impress others, you're bound to be disappointed
I don't waste my time getting 99 in a skill unless I need it (like range or magic)
There's so many players now that it's almost impossible to be unique anymore. I think the only impressive achievement item now is the gold 5-feathered chompy hat
Indeed.
I don't care what other people think of me. I train skills for glory and personal reward - I don't train skills so that I can get pestered by noobs to do the emote.

I'm not entirely certain if they are getting HD graphics at all. They probably will, though. I wouldn't be suprised if JaGEx limits their HD access.
-
Does it take someone respected to tell you or are you all just sucking up to muggi?
I could care less over someone's internet fame.
I have my own opinion, I've been trying to tell people who think that power training a skill is pointless they're [bleep] idiots. You have 40M, keep 25M in the bank at all times, why not use that 25M to get a Dragonfire Shield, or would the anti skill buyers stick with the Rune Defender because it takes time to get and you can't buy it.
you know people keep rune defender because of its accuracy bonus as well?
^ It really makes me wonder why people choose a dragonfire shield over a rune defender even if they're killing something as harmless as fire giants or bloodveld. If you're in a place where you need that extra defence bonus, clearly that is not the best choice of location to train (unless, of course, you're going slaying metal dragons or something). Guthan's or food to heal occasionally is much better than sacrificing +21/20/19 stab/slash/crush accuracy bonus.
Now to the topic.
If you buy the supplies to get to 99 in a skill the fastest way possible, it is much less of an achievement than if you work hard and earn it.
"But you have to earn the money, too!"
The achievement of getting a skill to 99 is knowing that you committed to it and deserve it. Sure, it requires effort to attain money, but unless you made that money doing that skill, I can't call it an accomplishment. It's called a Cape of Achievement, not a Cape of I Got a Lucky Drop At God Wars or Cape of I Picked One Hundred Thousand Flax or anything like that. In some skills, virtually all you need is money. It requires next to no effort after that.
Take Crafting for example.
You buy 120k black d-leathers. It takes half of a second to use a hide (three hides used per body, each body takes 1.5 seconds) excluding banking. The fastest I have heard it taking is 30 hours. It simply isn't an achievement if you spent just 30 hours doing the actual skill. Hell, I spent 30 hours learning how this game works. It's hard to believe you can "master" a skill in that time.

Now we risk a huge flood of chins, which will drop the price, or a total lack of buyers because of the un-known fact that it is going to be fixed.
Unknown fact that it is going to be fixed? It went up 34gp today. Do you know why? It involves both the fact that many RuneScapers lack intellect and easy communication. Some less intelligent people who looked on the forums and found the thread missed out on a huge investment opportunity and decided to tell all of their friends, who then told all of their friends, who then told all of their friends, until everybody was aware that it was getting changed, and the demand influxed. Personally I was one of the first to find it.
A perfect investment opportunity gone to waste. -.-

Could someone just post a good close-up pic of the Navy Slacks in HD?
I'd do it myself but I'm not a member at the moment, and I'm pretty concerned because I use my Black Slacks in almost all of my outfits :/
I'd get you a picture, but I'm at bloodvelds.
-
Navy slacks are skinny?! Oh boy, I liked those things, but I can't stand skinny looking trousers... they're the closest thing to my green flares I love :ohnoes:
My thoughts exactly. You see that outfit in my avatar? Ruined because of the update.
Slacks are supposed to be loose, comfortable, and formal - not tight, uncomfortable, and ugly.

Im f2p and probly the most underrated/not-used-when-it-should-be thing is combat robes for mages. Most f2p players I see level 3-50 that have mage armor are wearing druidic mage armor or wizard robes(???). Combat robes have the same mage att bonus as druidic robes but combat robes have higher def bonuses.
I agree with your statement! I've seen so many people in FTP using Druidic Robes #-o ... I don't understand why Jagex decided that Druidic Robes should be more expensive? Is the bind spell improved a lot when using it?
I think both of them started at the same price.
Players decided that Combat robes are worth less than Druidic robes.
The occasional rune that the Combat Robe replaces is not that much, unless you really are lacking money.
However, Druidic robes are used in Clan Wars to help with binding, as well as in Bounty Hunter and Fist of Guthix.
~Dan
By improved binding for the special effect of the full druidic robes, they mean that there is a chance that you will not use runes when casting a bind - not really the best thing when you're in a war - you're trying to win at all costs, even if that means giving up a couple of nature runes you could have spared.
Combat robes have the same exact stats, excluding defence, which is what makes them better. Sure, it is less than +5 more in each defence, but if nobody cares about that low of a bonus, why do people wear leather boots during wars. Anyway, combat robes are more useful when in groups, namely in a clan war.

and just to throw some more to the conversation the saradmon sword is most over rated. worse 10m i ever spent
Best 10m i've ever spent. They are the best str training weapon in the game. Better than Godswords since SS is faster, and a lot better than D Scimitar. If anything, they're underrated.
Exactly what I was going to write. ;)
RING OF WEALTH. Best 35k I've ever spent. Period. I used to wear a warrior ring, and sure a warrior might help a little bit, but you honestly cannot see any difference whatsoever - it's just so insiginificant that it's not even worth the cost (same goes for berzerker - it maybe will make your max hit one damage more). With a ring of wealth on, I notice increased drops. For example, I get a granite helm every terror dog task, granite maul(s) every gargoyle task, a black mask every cave horror task, and a whole lot more rune drops.
It seems that mainstream people don't even try it - they just hear a high leveled player say it and they spread the word that "the ring of wealth is broken!"
Salve amulet (e). When you compensate for both your levels and bonuses, when combined with nose peg/headphones (against banshees or abberrant spectres), it is much better than a slayer helmet and an amulet of fury.
"N00b skillcapes" : they're also skillcapes!

First off, I appreciate how you say that you have to love Crafting to get it, as I do. Unfortunately, it can also be bought and 99 can be achieved within 40 hours of easy work.
You can buy Fletching, Cooking, Crafting, Firemaking, Herblore, Prayer, Magic, Construction, Summoning, Firemaking, Smithing, Ranged, and you can argue that you can buy Attack/Strength/Defence/HP by powertraining with piety and super potions.
The thing about skillcapes is that the number of people with it varies directly with its difficulty and cost. It's hard to respect, say, a Cooking skillcape when 55,000 other people have that cape, most likely including you, or if it doesn't include you, you could change that in a matter of a week.
