  1. If they are using google for ads, it shows up on any site that is funded by adsense; It could be major websites to blogger blogs. Some are good resources, some are bad, but the point is, Jagex doesn't get to choose what websites their ads are placed on.

I just hope it does bring in some more people to the game, I don't care who they are or how old they are. More and more people are quitting and RS just need more players.

I just hate seeing people quitting because they are whiney butts over Jagex having updates that they don't like or take the time to understand. (Well, boohoo, get over it or /wrist please.)

  2. In today's gaming industry, kids are expecting very flashy graphics in their games and even though RS released the "High Detail" version which is nice (compared to the old version), it just can't complete with newer games that are being released. People usually clump RS into the same category as WoW, which one do you think kids are going to want to spend their money on for a membership?

It also doesn't help that people bash on Runescape all the time, saying that if you play it, you're a [insert derogatory word of your choice]. For teen boys, this is very off-putting, to think that they will be thought of as [insert that word again] if they play this game.

It would seem that Jagex doesn't want to put too much money towards advertising (though, while I was in The Netherlands in February, I saw the commercial).

  3. I don't know when the "golden days" of Runescape could really be.

I joined a few months after they brought out RS2; when f2p'ers still had an option to play "RS1" if they wanted to. I don't even remember the year, it feels like forever ago though. Heck, I don't even remember my first username.

I've taken too many long breaks from Runescape to feel comfortable enough with myself and skill levels to call myself a "veteran."

Not to mention I constantly made new accounts to try to out-do my (at the time) "main" so, I have lots of accounts with crappy levels.

-Last year, in November, I finally bought members for the first time on a new account, I'm sticking with that one now, no matter what.

  4. I have so much stuff I want to do for the weekend, but no idea where I should even start.

I'll probably end up doing Agility. I wanted to do Summoning, but I just don't have many charms. I think most places are going to be too crowded and laggy to do much of anything else.

I can get extra exp in certain skills any other time, with Sacred Clay stuff. I'm going to try to get to skills that I can't use SC items in.

  5. The site just switched to a new domain. People were talking about it in a CC I was in this morning.

In my opinion, I think Jagex should deal with botters a lot more harshly than they do right now.

-I know people who bot and don't think it's a big deal, mostly because they are young, careless and selfish... Not to mention their power freak issues.

  6. A. It sounds like you're FtP and a lot of crap goes on there.

    and

    B. You provoked it- you insulted them first. What, did you expect them to go, "Oh, we're ever so sorry sir! You are most assuredly correct and we shall adhere to your opinion right away, like the mindless drones we are!"

I was actually called a "nub" by his friends simply for resting beside where they were chopping, that's what caused them to start talking about the "meditating" being ridiculous.

And yeah, I'm f2p because I fear p2p; simply because I get bored with games so quickly that I'd feel like I wasted my money... not that it's a lot of money for membership, but still... I don't want to feel like I HAVE to play just because I paid for it. :/

  7. Today, I noticed Jagex implemented the Rest feature in RS like they had mentioned earlier. I thought I would test it out running air runes and it was working pretty well and I always stopped at the yew tree by the south entrance to Fally to rest and talk to the WC'ers.

Well, there were these two guys there chopping just as I was fixing to log off after this last run and they were talking about the changes that RuneScape has made over the past years. I must say that I, for one, am happy with the changes in RS. Despite my level, I've been playing this game since I was a teenager, right after they released RS2 and I think that a lot of the changes are good ones. But these guys were just down right bashing all the updates and saying that the "meditating" (talking about the resting function they just added) was completely ridiculous and they could understand small changes, but not big ones. I never saw any big changes in RS other than the better quality and smoother gameplay. Normally, I would brush this off, but as a female, I'm nearing that week of the month where everything in the world pisses me off... So, I just had to say something (stupid me).

All I said was "whine" "complain" "sob" and one of the guys in God armor stands infront of me and says "overrated nub" and I was just like "Games evolve whether some of the players like it or not" and he just stood there hovering over me (I was resting on the ground) "U need a life reaaallllll bad I know where you can buy one 1/2 off... Walmart! u look real stupid sitting in the grass pooping ur pants man" which I simply replied "I'm female in rl" which brought a slue of gay bashing jokes about me wanting to be a guy in RL simply because my avatar on RS is male (I like my RS name because it's an old nickname that my best friend gave me and I've had the account for a very long time and it'd look kind of stupid to have a name "Daddy" with a female character).

This not only pissed me off because of the pure ignorance of what he was saying, but I'm also a gay female that has trans* friends. I just sat there quietly and let them continue to bash me even though I said hardly anything (let alone bad things) to either of them.

So, I gotta ask why some players (mostly male, I've noticed) have to just bash on anything and everyone that has an opinion that isn't their's?

    [Completely unrelated rant]

I feel bad avoiding the question of "How old are you?" Why? Well, it seems like every time I say my age to someone in game, it's like "omg ur old y u play dis game? i bet i wont still play dis game when im ur age" I'm only 22 and I've been playing on and off since I was a teenager. Maybe some of you won't feel like you've wasted your time if you just up and quit when you get "old" but I can't just quit for good and be happy with that. I'll probably take many more breaks from RS when I'm bored with it, but I know that I will always come back to it eventually.

So, when you're "old" could you quit a game because you think you're "too old" to play even though there are no age restrictions after you're 13? Would it really be a matter of not wanting to be bashed on as opposed to not wanting to play anymore? This is of course if you have free time with nothing to do when you're "older" because apparently little kids think adults have no free time away from work, family, lovers and friends and if we do, we don't want to spend it playing video games.

  8. I didn't lose/drop the ring, I didn't put it in the bank either; I never had the ring because Explorer Jack didn't give it to me in the first place. Yes, I'm sure I have fully completed the Diary, all tasks are marked through and all sections are highlighted green.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I filed a bug/glitch report with Jagex and maybe I'll get a reply; If I don't, well I guess I'll just go without.

  9. I've just now gotten around to doing the Achievement Diary.

I've completed the entire thing (Beginner, Easy and Medium Tasks), but when I talk to Explorer Jack, he doesn't give me my ring. I've clicked every option he offers and nothing... (I even talked to him after finishing just the beginner tasks and he didn't give me anything.)

Is there is something I'm missing? All tasks are checked off and all of them are green. I've relogged, switched worlds, everything...

Am I just destined to not have the ring? If so, I guess I wasted an hour and a half of my night that I could have been training.

    :wall:

  10. I'll probably keep Muffin Daddy... Even though I'm girl, I'm used to being called bro, guy, man or dude by now. I just let people believe whatever they want to believe, it's a lot easier for explaining more personal details about myself. I can't think of any other name I'd want anyway, all good Tiger-related names have been taken already.

  11. Hera Emms shouts: Oops, my finger slipped!

    Heather Steampunk is now online.

Amber Grantham shouts: That's what I said on the first date!

    Dani Oleander shouts: lmmaoo Amber

^ That's what's on my clipboard. Hera and Dani are my bosses, by the way.

  12. My account is priceless to me, I've had it since 2003-ish when I started playing RS. Even though I'm not so fond of the username anymore (nickname given to me by an ex) I still enjoy being on it, even if my stats aren't as high as some of the younger RS players. I'd probably be very upset if something were to happen to Muffin Daddy. :geek:

  13. The second they implemented such a function as to turn the censor on and off; All the little kiddies would make accounts with the birthdays over the age of 13, running around abusing the fact that they can now swear as much as they want to whomever they want. Jagex would then get a bunch of emails from very unhappy parents saying that their kid just dropped the F Bomb at the dinner table and said they learned it over their game and wonders why Jagex isn't protecting their children. Because parents today rely too much on other's to keep an eye on their children instead of raising them their selves with better morals. That is only my opinion though.

I think they should lighten the censor just a bit, but not make it optional to turn on and off.

  14. I don't get the whole number names either, I guess they aren't creative enough to come up with something they wouldn't need to stick a number on after probably a good handful of other people have made the exact same (or similar) names.

    My RS Names:

    Muffin Daddy

    Diet Jello

    Same Gender

    Amber Lush

    Pwn Poptart

    Faked Love

    Rainbow Tart

    Tiger Tart

Only 4 of these have I played seriously on. #-o

  15. I hate when people ask you that right off the bat, no "hello" or small conversation, just "wats ur lvl?"

It's like they want to see if they're higher level than you and if they are, they want to brag about it or show off.

Or if you're a higher level, they either want to kiss your butt, tell you that you have no life or ask you to make/do something for them.

I can understand if everyone is standing around doing a specific skill and there's already a conversation going, asking as a "by the way" kind of question.

  16. I don't really consider mine "seasonal."

On rare occasions (like recently) I just wanted to start playing again because I'm bored and have nothing else to do with my free time.

Even worse is that I have too much free time recently since the place I physically work at is closed for the next 6 or more months.

I'm hoping my boss will let me work at her shopping complex doing something next month... but until then, I have the urge to play RS to kill time.

  17. Help NEWBS, Ignore NOOBS.

Generally, I'll help new people out if they are asking about something or I see them doing something wrong.

I ignore noobs or give short, non-interested replies if they bother me, hoping they go away.

If they don't go away, I log out for a little while (always good to take breaks), if I come back and they still bother me, Ignore list.

  18. I'm 22, I work and play RuneScape in my spare time (I've been playing since right after they implemented RS2) when I don't have a building design job to do.

Not to mention, I've actually been inspired by some of the architecture in the game and put it into some of my designs and people tend to like my stuff.

    I don't see what the big deal is, but of course I don't openly admit to being an online gamer out in public though;

Outside of classic nintendo because that apparently makes you more awesome and less nerdy than if you play RuneScape or WoW.
