  1. The mage outfit bonus might be a bit overkill.

I barrow with ancients, got 92 mage, wear full metal gear including shield, and wear zammy cape, farseer helm etc. to end up a -9 magic attack bonus/penalty with ancient staff, and hit the melee brothers 90% of the time.

Yes their magic defense is that low.

The melee outfit helps a lot keeping damage low in the tunnels, as most damage I get is from the vermin that lives there.

For Karil`s you need a slightly better magic attack, I hit only 50-60% of the time with full melee outfit, but if I take off my metal armor and put up protect from range prayer, I hit most of the time. However, dds specs followed by whip kills Karil almost as fast and saves runes.

  2. The total demand is the amount of money in circulation multiplied by the speed at which money is spent. People saving up on cash lowers the speed of spending. So people saving up money for a rare does slow down the speed in which money is spent a bit.

The second thing slowing down general money circulation is the speed in which products are made. It takes time to chop 1K magics or mine 1K coal. Buyers have to wait until the producers are ready. Since rares are not produced but held and easily transfered, rares have little effect on this.

The third thing that slows down money circulation is trading time. It takes time to buy and sell things. The time you spent on the forums and running around markets cannot be spent alching or producing.

Production of new cash by alching however takes time too. As the total amount of gp increases, prices go up, and there comes a point where people start alching less because barrows and other activities make faster money than alching. I myself havent alched magic longs for months, doing other things instead, although I used to alch a lot in the past.

There is another factor related to the economy: willingness to engage in the economy. Some activities, like questing or certain forms of training, do not require money. People doing those activities do not spend much money on those activities, and therefore have little interest in making it too.

Players buy 2 types of goods: 1) goods they want but cannot make themselves. 2) goods that they could make themselves, but when prices are low enough, it is more efficient to buy the goods. What is a high price and what is a low price depends on the speed at which the player can make money himself. High level runecrafters can make a lot of money per hour, and when the price of essence dropped to below 30 a few weeks ago, there was little point in mining essence yourself, when it was more efficient to simply buy the essence and use the time saved on extra rcing, which made the player more money than he lost on buying the essence.

When prices become too high, more and more players will simply do the work themselves, and the economy will slow down.

Runescape economy has a unique point in that producing gives xp which is a valuable commodity in itself. Many raw materials have a higher value than the finished product, which is where RS economy differs from the real world economy.

  3. Just got killed by Jad...I got there on my 2nd attempt.

It is not abolutely necessary to carry Guthan`s to get there. Blood blitz can be used for extra healing too. It is just 2 slots. Do remember to take off your ranger armor etc before shooting, because that will increase your hit chance.

I`m 94 range, 72 prayer, lvl 90 magic, 96 hp. I carried 13 pray pot (4), holy wrench (not sure if that`s prudent), bloods&deaths, karils xbow with bolt racks, magic shortbow with bronze arrows (to save money; shooting expensive bolt racks at a lvl 180 that stands still against a corner is a bit of a waste. In retrospect I had better use more bolt racks instead and save the 2 spots for pray pots) and about a dozen tuna potato.

I used up 1100 bolt racks, 1K bronze arrows, 500 deaths, 1000 bloods, and all my food and pray pots, but I arrived with almost full prayer and full hp at Jad. I swapped prayer too slow and got killed before my prayer ran out.

  4. total damage per hour = (attacks per hour) x (% successful hits) x (average damage per hit)

At 99/99/99 combat stats, the combat bonus from weapons become less important. Thus making dds better due to its high number of attacks per hour. At low combat stats, you`d be better off with an iron 2-hander as you need every bonus you can get.

When creatures are relatively weak, attack bonus won`t matter much, as there is little advantage in raising % successful hits from 94% to 96%

  5. Some people here still don`t understand that players selling party hats and barrows armour to each other does NOT "stabilize the economy".

Each time a player sells something to another player, money does nothing more than simply change their owner. No money is created or destroyed.

The one who just sold the partyhat now has a big bunch of money to spend.

You need to separate the MONEY part of the economy from the ITEM part of the economy, and look only at the MONEY part of the economy.

Actions that bring cash money in the game:

    -hi alch

-monster drops (including a tiny amount in Barrows chest)

    -shops buying things

    -new minigame.

Actions that take money out of the game:

-buying from stores, esp. runes and arrows since this is done in high volume.

    -barrows repair

    -crystal equipment restore

-player with money in bank being banned or quitting

-boat and cart trip costs (small amount)

-people dying with cash on them, nobody picking up.

As long as these two are of equal size, the amount of money in the game won`t change.

The amount of inflation depends on the speed in which money is spent.

total buying power = total money x speed of spending

total sales = number of items people want to sell

if the total money increases, total buying power increases (unless people keep it in bank, in which case speed of spending goes down)

If the speed at which people want to sell items stays the same, price will increase.

As people get more money, more money will go to stores to buy runes etc, until the cash in/ cash out balance is restored at higher overall amount of money.

  6. 1) the members world is huge. Best to learn the world at f2p first, then go p2p. Learn the best training spots.

    2) making money and training most skills is a lot easier at p2p. So don`t wait too long before switching.

    3) p2p-only areas are usually a lot more dangerous than f2p areas. So if you stay some time on f2p before going p2p, focus on melee training.

P.S. elemental shield is nearly worthless. It only gives a bit of magic defense. By the time you fight magic monsters, you should be able to wear dragonhide armour which is much better.

  7. Scarecrows- A huge waste of time and watermelons

Limpwurt roots grow fully about twice per watermelon i grow so they are quite useful. Also limpwurt roots can be sold 1k each on forums if you sell for bulk amounts. Yet not very exp

This is not a guide or chapter just some small information :P

Scarecrows and flowers have to be setup once, and will have its positive effect from there on with no attention needed.

I used sweetcorn as these seeds are a lot cheaper to get than watermelon seeds. The bulk of my farming xp I got from the tons of high level seeds I got from slayer training.

    Sweetcorn has 2 other advantages:

    1) you can get cooking xp from cooking them

    2) they are needed for tuna potato, which I`m making in large amounts now.

  8. You forgot about flowers and scarecrows protecting allotments.

Plant one in the centre and dont remove it (although you miss out on some xp there). I never had a diseased watermelon or sweetcorn afterwards (with super compost). And I harvested 2000+ sweetcorns and lots of watermelons.

Sweetcorns are decent cooking xp too.

  9. If you want a chain drop from dusties, prepare to have a LOT of patience. It prolly won`t happen in a day. It might not happen in a month.

Of course there are people who brag "I got a chain from dusties after killing only a hundred" but they are extraordinarily lucky.

  10. 1) play on quiet times (when there are less than 300 players per server)

    2) carry tele crystal. If they ice burst you, click tele and you`re gone. If they teleblock you, run away. ectovial is ok too.

    3) Be high level. I`m over lvl 115, and in 20 hours of Rcing I only got PK`d twice (both times I clicked tele crystal).Only pkers plus or minus 5 levels from your own level can attack you, and the bulk of pkers is lvl 60-100
