  1. Here's some calculations for the Portable Forge that I typed up. Thought I'd share it here too.

The Portable Forge - The Math & Logic

Since most people seem to have no idea what these actually do or what they are worth - here is a bit of information on the Portable Forge. Other portables have equal values - especially the Portable Well for Herblore.

    What is a Portable Forge?

It's a portable anvil/furnace that you can place anywhere. They last for 5 minutes each and save 10% bars when smithing or give 10% more XP and a 5% chance of creating double bars when smelting. They were a temporary Treasure Hunter promotion that lasted for 3 days. They are now discontinued on the Treasure Hunter - not a rare like Silverhawks.

The Math For Rune 2H/Rune Legs

Currently, Rune Bars have spiked in price due to a combination of Portable Forges and the upcoming Skilling Weekend. I will provide the Math for a number of different Rune Bar prices. Rune 2H/Rune Legs are currently at their price floor due to their alch value. I will assume a conservative value of 37.3k for the below calculations. (they alch for 38.4k)

    Portable Forge Savings

On average, I've been saving 3.5 bars for every 9 Rune 2Hs I make. That is from the portable forge and scroll of efficiency. The amount you save can varies from 0 to over 10 per inventory. 3.5 will be the amount used in the below calculations.

    Player Efficiency

These calculations assume you aren't being shit, but are also not 100% perfect with ticks. 400K/HR is possible with all XP boosters, however I will assume 350K/HR, or 12 inventories/108 R2Hs per Portable Forge.

The Cost of a Portable Forge

For the purpose of these calculations I will not be including the cost of the Portable Forge itself (currently around 70K ea in bulk), just the profit/loss from smithing on the Forge itself. Since multiple people can use the same Forge - you do not necessarily need to buy them for yourself to benefit.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Rune Bars @ 13.2k Each - The Old Price

Total Rune Bar Cost: 4,276,800 (per forge)
    Value of Saved Bars: 554,400
    Return From Selling R2H: 4,028,400

    306K Profit Per Forge
    3672K Profit Per Hour
    10.5 Gp/Xp Profit

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Rune Bars @ 14.0k Each

Total Rune Bar Cost: 4,536,000 (per forge)
    Value of Saved Bars: 588,000
    Return From Selling R2H: 4,028,400

    80.4K Profit Per Forge
    965K Profit Per Hour
    2.8 Gp/Xp Profit

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Rune Bars @ 14.5k Each

Total Rune Bar Cost: 4,698,000 (per forge)
    Value of Saved Bars: 609,000
    Return From Selling R2H: 4,028,400

    60.6K Loss Per Forge
    727K Loss Per Hour
    2.1 Gp/Xp Loss

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Rune Bars @ 15.0k Each

Total Rune Bar Cost: 4,860,000 (per forge)
    Value of Saved Bars: 630,000
    Return From Selling R2H: 4,028,400

    201.6K Loss Per Forge
    2419K Loss Per Hour
    6.9 Gp/Xp Loss

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Conclusions

    - The actual Gp/Xp loss/profit will be better because I didn't include the Xp gained from the saved bars being smithed and 2Hs being sold.
    - More than one person can use a Forge - so the cost of the Forge itself can be shared among a group of players/clan/fc.
    - These are discontinued, the amount in the game will consistently decline as they are used up.
    - If rune bars return to anywhere even remotely near their normal price in the coming weeks then 200M smithing is profitable and 100k+ Xp/Hr faster than before.

So how long will it be until selling the ability to use someones portable becomes a thing? (in citadel, where you can kick people who don't pay)

  2. Consistently using ultimates (alternating between two) while slaying looks to get agility exp equal to 55-65% of slayer exp, or 110-130% with bonus. Only based on 3 tasks thus far though.

BA is only worth doing if 1) cost is an issue or 2) you are just about 200m in everything already. We'll see where feathers settle in price.

  3. 5,148,608 Agility exp in a day with Flash Powder Factory?

Teach me your ways! (I'm assuming this involves 20+ hours nonstop of FPF in a day, though.)

No, it's point-based. I traded in 50K points (the max) for 4750k exp and then did a bit more to finish my 50M agility goal. It took me a few weeks to get the 50K points. (a model of efficiency there!) It's no different than trading in agility arena tickets, soul wars points, etc. Nothing noteworthy at all.

  4. WHAT THE... Out of nowhere Kngkyle pulls this off after weeks of relative inactivity!!! :ohnoes: Not willing to give up that front page spot so fast!

Flash powder factory, as others have mentioned. I'm just working on my 50m+ goal. Don't mind me, front page probably isn't going to happen anytime soon with me working 50-60 hr weeks. I can't play like I used to. :( Not that I was ever very efficient, everyone else just sucked more.

  5. I'm looking forward to this topic getting back to it's roots of tracking the progress of the top 20 or so players instead of all the pointless bickering. I think most others here would like to continue that discussion as well.

  6. What do you use against dark beasts, since they are weak to bolts, or do you still use a bow?

I use zbow + cannon. You can kill up to 13 per minute with that if you ignore pretty much all drops. Soul split keeps your health at full the whole time, so no need to worry about that.

  7. gratz to jake, dh sucks now, so I would say the hour's left most likely needs updated as slayer should slow down a bit

I've only done nechryaels since the nerf, but they were only slightly slower using a chaotic maul instead of dharok. I've heard abyssal demons are a lot slower, but I haven't tested it for myself.

I don't remember what slayer exp/hr he used on his sheet, but it should be at least 85k, perhaps higher as the best methods are still being discovered. I've tested 6 tasks so far that are all capable of over 100k slay/hr, 4 of them over 120k slay/hr.

The fastest total exp/hr I've recorded thus far is from Dark Beasts, at just over 720k exp/hr. Just looking at slayer it's nothing too special at about 120k exp/hr.

Here is a simple list of all the Kuradel slayer task weaknesses:

    http://kngkyle.com/u...-11-20_2058.png

I use Zbow for all range weaknesses, the corresponding magic spell in ancients for mage weaknesses, chaotic maul for crush weaknesses, saradomin godsword for slash weaknesses, and zamorakian spear for stab weaknesses.

The way abilties hit as soon as you cast them negates the benefit of having a quick hitting 1-handed weapon. The only tasks worth using momentum for are some magic tasks, since the wand and spellbook combo casts spells incredibly fast. Zbow and other melee weapons are too slow for momentum to be worthwhile in my opinion.

  8. Slayer looks to average about 500k exp/hr when you include constitution/range/mage/melee/slayer experience. Slayer itself averages probably 85k-105k exp/hr depending on how quick you are at switching gear and getting to your next task. The cutoff for skipping a task looks to be about 70-75k if you only count slayer experience. But for 200M purposes, you should look at the bigger picture and go by the total exp/hr which varies a little. For example, Steel Dragons are ~35k more slay/exp per hour than Hellhounds, but Hellhounds are more total exp/hr.

I'm still far from having all the best methods figured out, and I can't seem to reproduce the exp rates that some others are claiming, but I'm also not using a Steel Titan on any tasks (thus far, too tryhard) and only using a cannon on a few.

In any case, I'm enjoying the combat changes and rediscovering the best ways to kill things.

  9. Ajusted Slayer XP rate from 75k to 100k on my time calculator.

Ajusted Dungeoneering XP rate from 300k to 900k on my time calculator.

    Is 100k realistic? Source?

Does your sheet link melees, range, mage, and constitution with slayer? If it doesn't then that could inflate the time a lot especially now with EoC requiring the use of magic and range to slay efficiently. (moreso than before at least) Sounds like a nightmare to set up in Excel but it can certainly be done.

You need someone to track the average exp/hr you get for each of those skills while slaying. It would take a lot of hours to get accurate numbers.

  10. Found the sulotion.

If the number is for example 5k:

    =Replace(Q34;2;1;"000")

    Thanks for the help.

Going to work this week on manually transfer everything to Microsoft Excel. After that is done (takes hours), there will be no limit of players that we can track with the time calculator.

I would highly recommend using the other function if that works with the changes, as it will never require editing unlike the Replace function which will break when something goes above/below 1k, 10k, 100k, etc.

    =IF(Q34<1000;Q34;(NUMBERVALUE(Q34;4;"k"))*1000)

    should work

Why do you want to move away from google docs? It is far more powerful for importing web based content then excel.

In my opinion, Excel is way easier to work with than Google Docs. But it's been awhile since I've used it so perhaps it's improved.

  11. Try what the others mentioned. It's probably what vmser said.

If not, obviously the 'Q34' needs to be changed to the cell you are trying to turn into a number. I presume you know that though.

I'm using Excel 2013, so probably a little newer than whatever you've got. Not sure if that matters in this instance.

  12. I exp wasted and came up with a perfect formula for what you wanted, Gemeos2. So forget the other one.

    =IF(Q34<1000,Q34,(NUMBERVALUE(Q34,4,"k"))*1000)

    2012-11-18_1807.png

To be more on topic: I got 200M thieving the other day for my 7th 200M. I'm also looking forward to EoC. Should be fun doing things differently for the first month or so at least.

  13. Does anyone know how can I convert a value like 147k to 147000 at Microsoft Excel?

Replace function works. The '2' is the number of characters from the start to begin the edit. So if something is 35k instead of 5k then that number needs to be '3'. There may be a more perfect solution, but this is just the one I know off the top of my head.

  14. Ok.

I don't know why such big deal about Number1 boss but I really don't care about it.

The only ways to join my time calculator are:

    • Be in top 15 Overall XP;

    OR

    • Need less hours than Paperbag and must want to get 200m XP in all skills.

As we all agree, Number1boss isn't in top 15 Overall XP neither wants to get 200m XP in all skills.

This is my final word about this subject until he catch top 15 Overall XP. I'll ignore any request about Number1 boss.

The problem with this logic is that most people don't make such long-term goals. When I started playing RuneScape ages ago I never thought I would get 99 in one skill let alone every skill. Years after my first 99 I still never dreamed of getting 200M in one skill let alone the six I have now. I'd say there are less than 5 players who really think they are going to get 200M in everything, and I know none of them. (ironically some of them are on your list)

The fact of the matter is most of us, including myself, work towards 200m all without believing we will ever make it. Does that qualify us for your list? I don't know.

The most logical way to create your list is to just have a cutoff in the number of hours, and only include the people with less than that, regardless of if they say/believe they will ever get 200m all.

  15. Do you prefer like this?

To make like "E Trader", I would have to do it manually. Something I won't do it as you can understand why.

Is there a reason you are omitting people from this list? I'd like to see where I stand and I'm sure I'd be ahead of some of the names above.
