  1. I meant as in to play dead-man mode with an existing account (allowing you to restart over completely as a new account for dead-man) but yeah sounds like have to make a new account once again... and no way I can do 3 accounts to have members :/.

    Oh well. Sounds interesting.

I wanted this for ironman-mode for OSRS so I could play on my main as an ironman (but I already made an account like a year prior) so it kind of sucks you don't really have the option to completely start over as a new account for features like these.

  2. This is not against Americans or anything but I'm just curious as to why Jagex celebrates the 4th of July even though it's meant for mostly Americans. I don't really know too much of their history so the event does not have much importance to me or to maybe others too.

And knowing that, why don't they celebrate the world and not just one country? Like a world hat or something neutral. Not sure if Americans make up most of their fanbase, but I'm just confused as to why they thought to do it. Did they ever explain?

Anyways, for all you Americans, hope you have a great day today!  :D

  3. I would highly recommend getting the Claws, simply because they cost 200k tokens instead of 300k and they come with a 100% charge.

In reality though it really doesn't matter too much, because they are really just an in between weapon until you get drygores, which most likely will happen soon afterwards.

Oo did not know they came 100% charged. Huge bonus. And thought they were 100k per each claw for some reason x.x and that all of the chaotics were 200k tokens each. Gee I have not looked at prices in so many years... but hmm kind of weird that they would be 100k tokens cheaper. But meh I won't complain. :P

And thought I mentioned in post but I guess I didn't. I was asking because of my hardcore ironwoman account so unfortunately no drygores right now. Though I guess tier 85 is next closest thing.

    Thanks for your help though!

  4. So while tier 80 weapons are the same DPS now, I'm just wondering if there's still ever a reason to use Chaotic Longswords? I almost forgot they existed and was wondering why it seems that no-one uses these now. And forgot to mention that this is for a hardcore ironman account.

I heard most monsters are weak to stab, but wasn't sure if that's one of the reasons.

And is there even a difference between Chaotic Claws and Chaotic Longswords other then looks?

Just curious as I'm deciding on which melee chaotic I should get, and wasn't sure if Rapiers is still the way to go or is there a reason why I might want to choose the other melee weps? Besides Chaotic Spear... I do plan to get that in the future. :)

  5. Sweet. Been waiting 8 years for them to mention Archaeology as a possible skill... Well now elite skill.

Was never happy with how RS's skills worked... as some skills are just outdated minus the fact some are useful in POP.

So not getting my hopes up for this. I'll be surprised if they actually can make it work. As already I wasn't too fond of what. I read for Mining/Smithing rework.

And not sure how level 120 skills will work... such as Smithing... does it mean we create more pointless gear in order to train? And would there still ever be a purpose. I heard about upgrading gear... but maybe elite skills would work for that. Smithing by itself... doesn't feel right. 99 isn't as difficult as it used to be when more and more content is released and the exp rates seem to increase for a few.

  6. Just curious, does this PIN work for high-alching? Because I remember back in 2007/2008 that my friend alched his santa, then they eventually came out with a warning message for when it comes to alching very valuable items.

Maybe they can do the same with dropping items, PIN and warning (for those who entered PIN beforehand).

  7. I use the official RS thread, and actually used it a few months ago for my ironwoman to find a Heroes Quest partner.

    http://[Use Quick Find Code]/[Please Use QuickFind Code]?20,21,749,64784259

And yes ironman can do these quests, but for Hereos, you must gather your own items of course, except you can still trade the quest items that are required to be traded - i.e candlestick. Same with Shield of Arrav with the certificates.

  8. Depends if you're p2p or f2p.

Addy,Rune,Dragon is obtained either through drops or I believe clues with exception of dragon.

    2. You can buy runes from Aubury, Mage Guild, and Ali (but some sort of req to unlock him I forget). I just buy my runes all the time, especially when you can enter Mage Guild - the stock is 1,000 runes.

Side note: If you are training Magic or Range, it's recommended to do so in EOC, because then you only use runes for each auto-attack (not the abilities). For Legacy, it seems you use runes per each hit. :(

    3. No, but there should be guides lurking around. I actually learned alot from being in a ironman/woman clan though from all the chatter... could guest in one and ask and I'm sure people can help too. :)

  9. I tried Eldevin for awhile. There were some seriously screwed up things about it in my opinion.

When you are grinding and trying to level up the skill categories, the points that you receive for doing things actually goes down after you pass the level to be able to do the next thing. The skills are unbalanced and you will literally end up getting 4 points for something that originally you got 15 or 20. Mining coal for smithing is this way, which in turn raises your mining so that mining the higher ores to go with the coal will cause you to eventually lose points on them before you get to the next smithng ore.

The game is that way between almost all gathering categories and the categories in which you use what you have gathered.

You can not play this game as an individual for very long. You will have to join a clan or whatever they call it in game. All the story quests eventually lead to a dungeon that you can not do by yourself. The game will not let you bypass these group quests either so you are literally stuck in the quest progression.

When I played you could not find a group at random because there were not enough low level players and the upper level players would not have anything to do with you if you were not in their clan.

The banking system is a complete scam based on micro-transaction real money space buying. What you get for free is not enough to do much of as far as grinding.

Most of the quests are "Kill X amount of monster".

The only good thing I have to say about Eldevin is that the graphics are pretty good. The trees are way more realistic than Runescape.

Curious when did you last play Eldevin? Sounds ilke it was before they implemented story mode dungeons.

You can now do dungeons in story mode and group dungeons is just there if you want to team up. However they haven't added story mode to the last 3 dungeons yet which would be Ascended ones. And yes I agree... finding a group for a dungeon can be difficult to find, and it's something that needs to be addressed.

As for Gathering, you're meant to do the next tier. Because there is really no point in doing level 1 mats when your gathering profession level is over 16. That's why there is a "bulk" option now, so if you're converting raw mats to mats just to do Crafting and you're level 16+ in that Gathering profession... then using "bulk" is better.

Or can buy cloth from other players too.

But yeah.. it's good but like any other MMO, there's always certain issues. I would say that finding a group would be one of the biggest concerns right now.

I've been playing Eldevin since Beta in 2013. It's an amazing game. However, I've put too much time into RS to let it all go to waste for Eldevin. However, I highly recommend this game!

8/10 - Tons of content, Gameplay is fun!

I play both still :P But usually it's because I'm more afk on RS now lol.

  10. I don't think it has been posted before, but thought I share this for anyone interested in a semi-new MMORPG to try out.  It's over a year old now.

Eldevin is a "story-driven" indie - MMORPG that is F2P. Every area/content in the game is available for everyone regardless of being a supporter or not. There are a few pictures at the bottom.

Website: http://eldevin.com - can play on browser/client or is also available on Steam.

    Key Features:

    • Classless System - can put talent points in any of the following classes, Templar, Warrior, Assassian, Ranger, Mage, and Prophet.. to make PVP, PVE builds etc.
    •
    •
    •
    • Story Mode and Group Dungeons - there are dungeons every 5 levels except at level 30. You can get weapons, gems, remenants (used in crafting), and gear. Level 30 has no dungeon because you can craft your own gear set. Story mode is suitable for one person or a small group while group dungeons is meant more for five people.
    •
    •
    •
    • Professions - there are 7 Gathering and 7 Crafting skills to train. Some include Cooking, Farming, Alchemy, Weapon-smithing and Tailoring. It is a little bit complex like Cooking, to make Basil Bread for example, you need 2 wheat, 1 basil and table salt.
    •
    •
    • Gear/Weapons - usually most of the gear is obtained from dungeons except for the hat, which is obtained through it's Crafting professions (Tailoring, Leatherworking, and Armour-smithing). Weapons are usually obtained from dungeons or crafted.
    •
    •
    •
    • PVP - there are PVP modes like Deathmatch and Capture the Flag as well as an island known as Trapper's Atoll where you can fight other players.
    •
    •
    •
    • Quests - there are literally hundreds and hundreds of quests to do. The ones that are really worth it are the story quests, the rest are pretty much "get this, kill x"... but those are usually optional unless you want to gain experience to level up.
    •
    •
    • Bosses - there are also bosses to fight from Plasma Lord (PVP zone) to the Hulking Cave Troll.
    •
    • Exploration - alot of places to see and explore! From the Lost City of Garai to Mythos to The Great Tree.
    •

    Other Info:

    In-game shop:

You can purchase EP with real money or swap gold (part of in-game currency) for EP. The ratio is currently three gold for one EP. With EP, you can purchase things like backpacks (more inventory space), sacks, vanity chests, vanity, and potions like skill xp booster which increases exp gain for professions.

However they do have alternatives for those who can't afford EP, which is to buy baskets (simliar to sacks but can only hold 15 items), or bags (simliar to backpacks but less space) using in-game currency. But you still can swap gold for EP too (it gets easier at higher levels).

You can also upgrade your bag or backpack to hold more space.

However while Eldevin offers an option to buy in-game currency with EP, it is not worth it. Most players instead swap EP with other players for gold as you get alot more gold then listed in the shop. This is one of their biggest misconceptions, and I have seen people think you can buy gold and be rich - but that's not merely the case.

There is also a limit on gold unless you're a supporter then the gold cap is removed. The in-game currency can be used to purchase different things like secondaries needed for Crafting.

    Random Rolls/Gems for Gear/Weapons:

While crafting or sometimes as loot, there may be a red die icon to show that this weapon will recieve a random roll which could be anything from more DPS to a 2.5%? chance of dealing flame surge which is an aoe attack. This allows to create hybrid weapons.

As for gems, you can fuse gems together to create a better version. The highest tier right now is Glorious.. and it takes alot of resources to get. There are different types of gems that you can socket into weapons, gear. Like Diamond is used for ranged defense, and higher the tier of the gem, the better the stats of it will be.

    Any AFK involved for Professions?:

Yes, one of my favourite parts about the game. When you farm crops, mine ore,cut down trees or skin animals, you get resources to turn into cloth, bars/ingots,planks,and/or leather. The converting process can be very AFK as long as you have enough space to do so (which is why sacks are very nice to have). I have gone for at least an hour without logging out converting raw materials into cloth - so it's nice while you are wanting to watch Netflix or play a different game.

There is also an bulk option which makes these resources at a faster rate but you gain less exp. Useful for when making raw mats well below your level, or you just want to train Crafting.

Same could apply to Crafting if you don't want to bother vendoring any of the items to a NPC. If you run out of inventory space, you will drop the "items" and there is a timer displayed and the item shown... if you don't claim it before the timer runs out, it will dissapear.

The only thing that isn't so AFK is a few gathering skills like Foraging.

    --

    Guilds/Auction House?:

Eldevin currently does not have guilds or an auction house. However they are currently working on guilds right now, and is most likely to be one of the next up-coming updates.

  11. Been a Oilers fan since 2006 and the last few months is just such a insane whirl-wind. Winning the McDavid lottery, a new GM (that's decent), and soon-to-be head coach. Sorry Maple Leaf fans...  but I did laugh for a good five minutes when I realized Edmonton won again.

Seriously though.. it's about time we go somewhere.

  12. So I'm really curious and wondered what schools around the world or by country did for field trips. It can be elementary, middle/junior high school, and/or high school.

Being from Alberta, Canada... my school often had field trips to go skiing/snowboarding as well as skating/tobogganing (sledding) when I was younger. And there was sometimes the movie theatre. As for high school, the only field trip I ever had was to the zoo as part of my Anthropology class.

My favourite out of them all would be an overnight camping trip I did with my class.

And I know some don't live in such a climate, and thus why I was curious... what field trips did you usually go on or have been offered but didn't care to join?

  13. I think it's just you can't use one account to help boost your account or help in anyway except to transfer wealth/items. However I've heard of ironman accounts using their mains to help tank at bosses like God Wars so honestly I have no idea what exactly Jagex would frown upon.

But Boosting is one thing they mentioned wasn't allowed.

  14. From what I gather, it only seems useful in tight close areas like abby demons at Kuradel's dungeon... depending on how far it can pick up loot. Never done the beta so would have to try this out for sure!

If they haven't yet, they could probably add a "x-bob" button on the looting interface... and allow famliars to carry more valuable loot... it's not 2008 anymore.

  15. Some updates...

    May 7th:

    Got 80 mining!

    May 8th:

    ---

So what's left now is to finish While Guthix Sleeps and Ritual of the Mahjarrat for some exp to use on certain skills. I was thinking of putting the WGS reward on Prayer, and the ROTM reward on Summoning. Then do penguins/jot for Herblore (along with making potions of herbs that I already have collected) and hope for some Herb dailies (which I've been getting quite a few of). And I still also have to do some Agility training too.

Then I'd like to get 91 Thieving and 89 Mining and then just mine/theive till 99 and eventually level 120+. I am starting school in September so I don't want to focus on grinding skills or anything for Max cape or anything like that.

I'll do challenges/reaper (depending if I finished my Barrows set - might move onto GWD) but ideally I would like to work on unlocking Ports first (before school even) and obtain gear/weapons for GWD. I know I could use warpiest and chaotic staff but I lag a bit at GWD so I rather have some good gear and also zaros shard. So again I'm really in no rush to complete these sets.

So Ports will most likely be my next skilling goal after 99 Mining untrimmed. And will be a good excuse to get 91 Runecrafting too... (and yes I really want to train 91-99 RC via nature runes).

So yeah I will update the Skilling goals list once I've completed my goal of untrimmed Mining and it could include other goals such as Quest cape possibly? We'll see.

ETA of 99 Mining: June or July :)

  16. I've also heard of people using Youtube as a way to get info to your account... so that's why I don't search or look up any Youtube videos sent by random players (except if it's a RS video maker that's well known) or what's said in chatbox that appears to claim to be having a "giveaway" or "contest" of some sort.

    And Skype too.

I know that if you hover your mouse on the link, doesn't it show the actual link?
