They do just run around smashing everything, it's possible you just got really unlucky and they smashed up your house by chance.

Ogre broke it, not a creeper. I've never had a creeper break a shelter of mine. Frenden texture pack. i noticed there was no ground damage, but ogres always seemed to like to plow right thru my [cabbage].

Pro tip: have villagers build you a house creepahs die if they get too close, villagers wont build over it, all that jazz. also, what texture pack?
