  1. Bottom line is I question how good this update will be for pking. If it's bad then jagex better listen for the improvements cause I have the feeling its gonna be bad. I have the feeling its going to be especially bad for f2p if they get the update too.

Considering that the chaotic level shields only give 14% dmge reduction, it can't be that bad.

Also, it only soaks hits above 200. Rune probably won't get more than a 5% rate.

    So, let's say you would 2h a 280. That's 80 over 200. 5% of that is 4. You 2h a 276. Not really a big deal.

And it won't affect f2p range or mage at all.

EDIT: I'm most concerned by the suggestion that there will be more such updates.

  2. Get 10 def 40 atk train str to 99. If you followed this guide correctly you will have a black pure.

Nope. Black pures aren't for melee. Black pures are normally 1def pures who messed up, but occasionally you get the pures who got 10 defense for combat robe/druid "bridding". (If you can call bind --> fire blast --> r2h bridding)

If you're actually trying to make a "black pure", odds are that its for bridding. Most black pures are accidents (wow that sounded racist)

  3. Is the maple longbow (sight) better training than the maple shortbow?

I would assume so, the speed loss is quite forgettable, seeing as the Maple Longbow(sighted) is more accurate than a Crystal Bow (Crystal has +100 bonus, MLS sits at 110.)

The shortbow is better for training than even the sighted longbow. Why?

The fact is, if you need the accuracy of the sight in the first place, that monster's defense is high, and you really probably shouldn't be training on it. The sight may be better while drop hunting, such as against cockroach soldiers or greater demons, but overall the shortbow is still the superior training weapon, even, I think, for ankous.

  4. Will a mage pure not shred your account? Magic defense = 70% magic level + 30% defense level

So, you have effectively 30 defense against a mage, and you're wearing full plate armor.

At that level, a mage is hitting at LEAST 160

A 40 hp 58 magic 11 prayer pure is 3 combats below you, hitting 180s, and freezing you, with Ice Rush. If they take 1 step away, they'll be shredding through your armor with you unable to retaliate.

    Gf barrows armor, gf dfs.

EDIT: Not to mention that somehow, in my stupidity, I managed to forget Iban Blast. GF def pure. A pure 5 combats below you can hit pretty constant 25s.

  5. As all the others said, this is a great guide. I have a range-2h pure, and after seeing a delay vid on youtube in which the delay was just amazing, I've been trying to figure it out. Having the reference of "when your bow drops to your side" should help me out if it works, and I want to try it soon.

Now, having said that, it's time to (as a fellow range-2her with many pure friends) drill some holes:

    1. 44 prayer is always, ALWAYS, better than 31. Your main damage dealer is range (you use the 2h for 5 hits max all fight). Learning to prayer switch is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY if you intend to level prayer. Another option is 13 prayer. It only raises combat 1-2 levels and gives you 10% more strength, which can be a good 1-2 damage more. If you don't want to write a prayer switch section, I would be willing to write it for you, provided that you are still maintaining it.

    2. With the release of the gravite 2h, players who know how to use f keys for switching can use it for KOes.
