  1. Whether you like it or not, everyone is at this stage at some point in their character's life. Personally I do everything in my knowledge to make a profit or at least break even with each skill I train, as well as multitask to raise several at once. Fishing your own food and cooking it is an obvious one (especially if you still didn't max either yet) but there are other means to go with it such as making duelling rings (crafting and magic) with cosmic runes obtained from ZMI training (runecrafting) and gold mined (mining) and smelted (smithing); even when you purchase the emerald you still make a bit of a profit despite not being the surefire most efficient means to level outrageously fast.

Just two cents from a player that never really was "rich".

  2. With enough precision using the blackjack was the fastest way I've ever levelled my thieving. You'll never be caught with knocked out thugs and provided you're fast enough can pickpocket multiple times before stunning again. I believe I managed to get from 65 to 70 just doing that in a day.

  3. Clue scrolls are partly the reason why I don't train combat much anymore since they were introduced. An increase would be nice so I can do several when I'm done with my fighting instead of having to stop just to finish that one.

I hope that when they do increase the cap that it's 50 or more.

It would be great if the clues could stack, but knowing how clues are different it may not be possible for Jagex team to pull that off?

It can be done very easily just making it so you're only allowed to do one clue at a time.

  4. So I came back after several years and find myself with a plethora of new things I can do to raise these two skills. Smithing in particular made me spend a considerable amount of time at the Blast Furnace though I'm not sure it's as viable and/or profitable as it used to be considering activities like the Lava Flow Mine were introduced. At 77 mining and and 79 smithing I was wondering where the ideal options for me are nowadays, taking into consideration time, speed, cost and revenue. It'll be a great bonus if I can throw mining into the mix as well.

  5. I rather like them. Would put in an order for a drawing of my character if you draw male characters. :P

I can do male characters just as fine, it's just the girls are more fun to draw. :P

It also depends on what the order involves. I don't do commissions for sketches, since they're more akin to requests.

  6. Actually her mining level was 3 when she got started, haha.

I've just gotten into the groove of Runescape just recently so I don't really have anything related to show, though I did draw this for another friend last week:

See why I can't really post much here? I get these sorts of drawings done frequently. :P

  7. Hey all, figured I'd make a topic here to post some Runescape related doodles and sketches I'll be doing since I've taken an interest again, starting with my (genderswapped) and my friend's characters here:

Sadly I don't think several of the drawings involved are appropriate for this site. How soon I manage to get anything more complete done depends on my schedule. XD

  8. I just tried this today and won a lucky Saradomin godsword. The bad part is, I'm an ex-member so I couldn't even take it. There's another problem with the wheel.

Could've got members, you didn't want to.

Great reasoning with that. Really. Since when did Jagex need to dangle a carrot that badly to get more subscribers?

You can click the x if you don't want to play.

    Again, missing the point.

  9. Thanks much for all the info guys! Now that I know what I may end up doing back in the game I'll be subscribing sooner than later.

Also yes, I did mean creating prayer potions from scratch. As one of the earliest members of the game I always intend to gain something from my work rather than burn it out, even if it takes longer to level up.

  10. Fair enough, I'll stick with what I have for now despite my dislike for combat. However the main point of the topic was about how people earn their income in 2012, since the last time I played proper was in 2004. Since skills are now obsolete I'd have to have a go at alternatives and I need more funding to start my merchant ventures again. :D

  11. Aww, and it used to be the most amazing set for all-purpose fighting. I can't really afford all the end game armour unless I start getting reacquainted with my mercantile skills again. Not that I did much fighting to begin with since I hate combat, but it's nice to have something for backup.

  12. I have to admit it's been a few years since I've been truly active in the game, so much that a lot of things have changed. Since the most natural thing to do when you get back in there is to generate some resources I've been wondering what means players use nowadays to get some income? I'm fairly above average with skill levels and personal wealth but it couldn't hurt to get things rolling again. Is bulk flipping/arbitrage still done despite the limit implemented on sales and purchases? Which skills have become obsolete?

Also as a bonus question: By the time I retired the barrows armour was the best one in the game. Someone care to enlighten me what replaced it now?

Barrows has been replaced by Bandos and Torva (melee), Armadyl and Pernix (Ranged), but Ahrim's is still one of the best mage outfits only being outclassed by Viritus.

However, if you find yourself lacking in the geepee department, barrows armor is still a viable option.

Gathering skills don't make much money now days, so the best ways to make money are either by staking, bossing, or merchanting. The GE buying limits aren't that big of a deal as far as I know. I haven't merched in a while, so things might have changed recently.

Ah good, so I can still use my Guthan set to save some money on food. I've also been told that the limit has been removed so that might change a few things. Hell I'm still amazed my party hats have gone over the billion mark, haha.
