  1. I'm more worried about the possibility of forced inoculations that the government would impose on us.

The swine flu would just be the ticket that lets the Govt. force us to get shots to "immunize" us.

When it could very well be RFID, or a form of population control.

Don't rule out the possibility, after all... they ARE making a big fuss over something that has a low mortality rate compared to other diseases/viruses

They're just trying to scare us. This could be the "9-11" of the Obama administration

  2. [bleep] yes I would.

I'd even tell my parents to kiss my [wagon] walking out my door while I move to California to become a glassblower.

You do know smoking a bong for a living in America does not exist, right?

Your implication that I would want to smoke a bong for a living itself is stupid, dont you think?

considering when you ARE stoned almost everything that isn't smoking kicks complete [wagon]... and that includes working with your hands to blow glass.

Some of the greatest lampworkers in the world lay in California, and the best teachers...

  3. Some people also use the gateway drug excuse. Whos to say that Cannabis is a gateway drug at all? Tobacco and alcohol could just as easily be considered a gateway drug, but they are 100% legal. Just because someone smokes Cannabis recreationally doesnt automatically mean theyre going to go out and shoot heroin, or smoke meth. The gateway excuse is a faulty, unjustifiable argument, which has been proven wrong. Cannabiss illegality increases the chance someone is going to try harder drugs. Since its illegal people have to buy it from underground dealers, some of which try to push harder drugs onto their customers so they can make even more money.

    http://www.erowid.org/psychoactives/sta ... nfo2.shtml

    *See link

the percentage of those who have ever tried marijuana and then ended up using heroin once per month is around 1 in 1000.

The chart below also helps show the correlation between those who ever try a substance and then go on to ever use it at least once a month. Of the psychoactive drugs included in this survey, trying PCP was the least likely to lead to ever using it monthly (0.8%), the next least likely to lead to any monthly use was LSD (1.5%), next were inhalants (2.7%), then heroin (3.2%), then barbiturates (4.1%).

  4. Well, frankly, it looks staged, never the less. In fact, without it the lineart would look horribly choppy...

Lmao, that's because it IS staged, that's what presentation is.

And if you knew about contrast you would know that dark on light would make any choppynes show up worse.

The black vector is on top of a much lighter colored glow.

  5. the blue glow isn't universal with all backgrounds....

It's there for the presentation factor, it isn't going to be in the final.

All art is good to people who lack the eye for it.

I made $5k-6k last year with promotion solely from facebook. How much did you make from your art in your lifetime?

Also won $1500 in prize from a contest last November.... (which was voted on against 20 pieces by the public)

And for those bashing DA, I don't care. look at my last 4-5 peaces and look at there submission date.

I don't use it often anymore, or take it seriously.

  6. Its rectangular because its cropped off to reduce file size, and to display the main object, and it's details.

-You get opinions on here because this place has a large population of pixel artists (some who are legitimately good). And sig makers.

--and judging by your DA, you appeal mostly to those sig makers.

  7. He Didn't point out a flaw or a mistake, because there are none.

This is where you went wrong.

Do tell, because really whats there that can be wrong with it?

composition, no... since the fly' is going to be applied to a program, not just rectangular image you see

colors, maybe... but like I stated they're not final. & I have more to go.

The only thing you could would be the cut-off of the antenna, which I can fix,

or take the jaggedness of the vector and pass that idea/theme on to the program.

Wow learn what YOUR talking about... Comic books it is like you said but they are noted and payed too. Are YOU paying for the lineart.... I think not. Welcome to Reality.

    Free-lance line artists perhaps.

But those who work for companies like DC and Marvel are paid in salary, they have to complete so many per year (depending on how many issues of that comic franchise are to come out)

They work like a manufacturing line, just like a car factory. Someone does the concept > goes on to be drawn by another person > goes on to be colored by yet another person > then they often have people who put in the dialog > and finally someone who gets it ready for prints, and production.

You see, people like you think they're so superior to free-lance people because you get commissions. I am very very offended by the fact that you seem to think that pixel art is for amateurs, or that a pixel artist knows nothing about things like color or composition. You are wrong. All art exhibits all the elements.

I was requested to do this by someone who seen my work and wanted me to do this job for them.

I didn't state specifically that pixel art is for amateurs, Pixel art requires a *different skill set that doesn't associate with what I am doing.

*Being able to compose and replicate scenes/objects in very small form

You're correct about the color/composition part, but I said colors are not final, and composition is not a factor in what I posted.

  8. I post here to get suggestions from people who are not amateurs, (exclusively) sig makers, or pixel artists.

Which means, people who have the credibility of knowing what they're talking about

Which, unfortunately, this place is plagued with.

What I did was nothing shameful.

In the comic book industry there are line-artists, who, after finishing their line work, pass it on to colorists

With the vectors/linework I used from DA, I took on the job of being a colorist.

If you're still wondering heres some of the tools I used.

    Laso Tool

    Blending/layer modes

    Color Balance + Levels

    Textures/Texture Fills.

just because its not complex doesn't mean it doesn't take skill.

I have refined my techniques over the years to KEEP it simple and quick for cases such as these (that need fast output)

Do you really, really, really, REALLY want me to point out the flaws? Because I will. As of now, even the slightest mention that your art may not be up to par seems to set you off...

I know its not that great, but, it needs to be done fast. When something needs to be done fast you have to sacrifice quality in many cases

  9. I didn't use any brushes either, so what does that say about you. (you have no idea what your talking about)

Your right he is saying I took some vectors, but guess what.... I stated that in my first post.

    Why repeat it.

He Didn't point out a flaw or a mistake, because there are none. (although some things can be refined)

He was discriminating me for using resources that were made available for people to use.

That, is called being a [bleep], and pointing out the obvious.

You have no authority to tell me to get out. So deal with it.

  10. If you don't have anything suggestions/advice then bug off. Which apparently you have none.

Instead of posting what I already said in my first post, and getting your post count up.

I didn't ask for crits, and I stated I didn't make the vector resource. (Resources are meant to be used by the way)

So if you wanna go ahead and show me up and do one yourself that isn't a pixel. (Pixels wont fly in the print world)

    Go for it.

Also, no filters were used. So please, unless you know what your talking about, refrain from trying to tell me what I did.

Exactly why I rarely post here anymore, I get told stuff from people who strictly make signatures, an know nothing more.

  11. Using this stock: http://heimito.deviantart.com/art/3-Vec ... s-78111501

Got commissioned to design some butterfly's and a program for a funeral.

    Kinda morbid, but whatever.

I have to make 4 of them, blue, green, white, and brown.

Nothing special in terms of technique, just cell shading and adding texture.

Colors/textures are not final, I'm just trying to rough it to see how it will look with the techniques used.

    workinprogress1nu9.jpg

    P.S.

Don't [bleep] at me for using those stocks. read the description.

"3 Beautiful Vector Butterflies. Feel free to use them how ever you want."

Commissions like this need fast output, which doesn't give me time to design from scratch.
