  1. Really now, as if jumping has never been a part of wildy.

I used to use dclaws to PK in normal one on ones. I would use whip and dclaw on the side. I would knockout someone and then a guy with an AGS would jump and kill me, there goes a set of rune aye? So I can't really support this at all since I've had my joys of pking ruined by other weapons too.

"What I really want to say is, is it possible to have at least 3 minutes of standing in the wildy not being assaulted constantly from d claws? And not having a man to man fight?"

Oh yes it is possible, you're just unlucky. Man to man fights are no more, war isn't all about HONAR DUELZ. It's fight, die, fight more.

  2.

    plain and simple...

    you're ugly.

well if you're male you try putting on that armor and you'll see what I mean, if you're female, then yeah I agree with you.

I doubt the plate body is Armadyl though, the shoulder pads don't really make sense.

  3. I dont think you should be able to range over the ditch but if ranging over the ditch is possible then i should be able to go to the roof of a building and range down on players.

If you can find a roof you can range off of sure, go ahead.

Brando, you keep on saying it's a bug when it's clear that it's not a bug in the code sense, and if you look at it as a bug in the "it's not what the programmers intended to happen" sense, then most of the game is a bug...

And if they were to change it, that in no way, shape, or form means that it was a bug...they've changed a million things that weren't bugs.

But what about the Dragon Full Helm drop? Obviously, Jagex implemented it themselves. But now, several weeks later, they're saying it's a bug. Isn't the ditch a strikingly similar situation?

I don't see in ANY way how this is similar. D Full Helm, I don't know what they were thinking. It probably wasn't a bug and it was more probably of people unhappy about it cause it would push more and more of them into the market. But that's just getting off topic.

Please try to explain WHY the DFH situation has to do with this? I fail to see how them making a mistake/changing something to please the crowd is similar to them making something to help players.

Everyone who says that Jagex specifically decided to allow rangers to shoot over the ditch, HOW ON EARTH DO YOU KNOW?! Were you working with RuneScape programmers? Did you have an interview with Andrew Gower? Do you possess an uncanny ability to read people's minds to find their intentions from nearly a year ago?

And even if they DID specifically allow players to range over the ditch, they never thought that players would be able to fight each other across the ditch, as it was not in the wilderness. Jagex might have made it so that players could shoot guards or skeletons. But I can guarantee you that while that ditch was being programmed, no one at Jagex said to themselves "I'll make players able to shoot over this ditch so that a year from now, if we decide to make worlds PVP, it can give players using ranged an enormous advantage."

So they did, so what? If they didn't, so what? I bet they didn't intend to create massive market fluctuations by setting random prices on the GE items. Do you have any of those experiences that you have listed? Probably not, so you can't make that argument legitimate. Wait, what are you even trying to argue? That we don't have the right to voice our theories? Infringement on the freedom of speech? You have to remember the Jagex removed the wilderness, there weren't intending on putting it back until now due to popular demand. So that point isn't really fair to make.

  4. *Note that I have not read anything else on this topic*

These are my ideas on this topic...

    1) 1 Itemers that attack and die with protect ARE dumb, I agree.

1 itemers have infested the PvP worlds, they run up and interrupt a fight for their own personal enjoyment, annoying. I agree that they should have some limit on them.

I like this idea: Remove protect Item. Those guys pking with whip or GS know they are risking it. They probably won't mind because it will increase their own drops.

    2) People who ATTACK 1-4 itemers are asking for it.

I personally, admit, I'm a 4 itemer. You may have seen me running around pvp world 23 in the following....

    Full armadyl and Magic shortbow.

Infinity hat, top, bottom, and an ancient mace.

    Robin Hood hat, fury, whip.

So yes, I know I am risking them, but I don't attack anyone, if they attack me, I give them a sound beating with what I can and die. Then come back to resume watching. I have killed a few people this way, but really, they deserved it.

    3) I'm a 4 itemer that likes to spectate.

    Read above.

    4) Luring them is a pain in the butt.

My team tried to lure them, using sapphire enchanted bolts, smite, heal other, and ancient mace. We didn't lure that many, they would either run or don't get smited out in time, come back and harass us.

  5. @Muddybob- look, your argument is weak, you're trying to justify rangers being the top of a pyramid of 3 builds, rather than a corner of the combat triangle. Melee>range>mage>melee.

Nobody wins, because they all have a weakness. Rangers are supposed to loose, statistically speaking, to melee, likewise melee should loose to mage, and mage to range.

Saying that this is fair because it gives rangers a way to consistently thwart melee, while literally taking no risk whatsoever, just shows you dont see past the fact that you just want to win. It's not a bad way to be, headstrong can take you places, but in a discussion over whether or not this is an abuse or not, you dont stand a chance and you just waste your opinion on it.

It is a problem, it wont be fixed for a while, so use it while you can if you want to, personally I just stay away from the wilderness ditch altogether, swarms of people are a hoot, but I prefer taking out single travelers.. just me.

So, just accept that this isnt something that was intended, its not like ANY other ranged obstacle, cow pens effectively trap the ranger if they cant take out the person fast enough. It was a shortsighted move on Jagex's part to keep the ditch, but really its just a haven for rangers/mages and is best avoided by anyone who doesnt take a bow/runes with them.

I never said I was trying to put them at the top. I'm saying that they have an advantage, they should use it. It's like any other weapon. It's their version of an Elysian or Arcane shield.

The combat triangle is already messed up enough. Changing this one will make it even worse. Melee-ers don't get whooped by magic, they get overpowered by melee. The wizard ice barrages, the melee-er puts on range armor and fights back when they go up to MELEE. It's not a triangle anymore, it's a dot, melee. Magic only works in large numbers or when mixed with melee. Range only works with either using safespots such as this or using void and hoping to 1-hit the enemy with a good Dbow special.

It isn't a consistent way to thwart melee, I could probably land one or two hits on them while using pro range to cover myself from the gist of the attacks. I do see the fact, I'm just saying that it is a stupid subject to argue about, and I'm trying my best to explain why I believe this is the way to go. I don't expect you to listen at all, knowing that most of TIF is full of thickheads. But if you prompt a response I will gladly give you one.

  6. as long as they can get close enough to do so.

^ Rangers are supposed to run away.

When you put it like that its like you're saying they should be impossible to hit, which is of course not true.

I'm purely basing this on the human past. The old fashioned Castle Siege. Knights (Meleers) Rush recklessly towards the wall and throw up ladders(Jumping the ditch) and the rangers shoot and let the pikemen on the wall defend them, or they retreat while shooting (which of course is not implemented)

If you had read the post you would know that the ranger is NOT running away. He is continually jumping over the ditch to avoid the meleer while ATTACKING him. If the ranger were just hopping over the ditch to run away, I would have NO problem with it.

I have read the post yes? And he is technically running OUT OF MELEE RANGE. Continually jumping the ditch is their way of moving out of range to use their advantage that they have.

No meleer can one-hit a ranger unless said meleer is 50+ levels above the ranger in question. And if this is the case, the ranger SHOULD get one-hitted.

Well check this out then, a dds special double 33s, leaving the Ranger and critical hit points and most likely poisoned.

An AGS special would hit the ranger for 60 or even more, leaving them again at critical situations. One more solid hit would finish them.

I never said they would be 1 hitted, I said they would have a little "Problem" cause their in range of being KOed

If the ranger is not willing to get hit they will not follow you away from the ditch, its like a crutch for them. Since the ranger won't follow the battle will just have been a waste of time and food for the meleer. It needs to be taken away.

Then let them stay there, they don't care about the melee-ers expenses. If you're worried about time, why bother pking? More of, why bother playing RS at all if that's all you're going to get yourself into and complain about?

No one here is saying that rangers should not be able to uses NORMAL SAFESPOTS. The ditch is NOT a normal safespot. And you say that using the ditch is equivalent to meleers using armor? That's bogus. The ditch completely prevents the rangers from being hit while they attack the meleer. The meleers armor provides defense against the attack but does NOT make them invulnerable.

Well gee, 95 range here and I've shot my fair share of arrows at plenty of guys in barrows and Bandos. Guess what, I rarely hit anyways even with Darkbow special I stuck em for a 8 8. Yea, Melee kinda makes them invincible. Try putting them against Vesta's armor, even with diamond bolts they are almost invulnerable. The meleer could still hit the ranger even with the ditch, you just have to get lucky, like pking is all about, luck.

This is the best part! :twss:

You talk about the triangle, then you go on to mention that "Rangers have always had problems against melee". Well guess what! If you take into account the combat triangle, then rangers are SUPPOSED to be weak against meleers!

Rangers are ALREADY weak against melee-ers. Look at the melee weapons they have, then look at the rangers and their things. Strong armor against Fleet of foot, Heavy hitting against rapid attacks.

  7. And to those who are saying they should remove this and not other safespots. So are you asking all rangers to move to the cowpens and wait for people to start ranting there?

I see you suffer from cronic stupid. I'll lay this out for you:

Cowpen- Melee has a CHANCE to at least REACH the ranger.

Ditch- Mellee has NO CHANCE to touch the ranger at all. NO chance. No way to do damage. This is the equivilant of hacking for infinite hp. it is a bug, and an abusable one at that.

Cowpen- good strategy, ranger's only way out is to run/tele

ditch- ranger can jump back and forth while attacking, while melee can just follow/run away to try and live. again, melee has NO opportunity to retaliate.

Cowpen- not abuseable, just using ranged for what its meant for, shooting over an obstacle.

Ditch- again, using ranged what its meant for, shooting over an obstacle- BUT does not give anyone else a fair chance to fight back.

I AM a ranger. I know its abuseable. And if you're too greedy or stupid to understand that this isnt fair, well, congrats on being a sub-par human being =D>

It's "Chronic Stupidity" if you wish to insult me, use the right spelling and words.

Rangers are SUPPOSED TO NOT GET HIT. They are supposed to use distance to their advantage. The ditch is only using their environment to slow down their opponent to run away. If a meleer lands a solid hit on the ranger, the ranger's screwed cause of the lack of good melee defence unless it's a tank ranger. The meleer does have a good chance, somehow lure the ranger back a bit and hit him, it's not impossible. You can always trick them by jumping over twice.

I AM A RANGER ALSO. I know it's not considered "Abuse". It's the same thing as meleers "abusing" their melee gear. Give melee-ers armor, you gotta give rangers something that won't tie down their range bonus, thus, environmental boosts. I'm not stupid or greedy, I'm just using my common sense.

Rangers should be able to use this. It's like saying you can't drive to school cause that's abuse over those people who have to walk. You're being stupid by wanting to unbalance the triangle more than it already is. Rangers have always had problems against melee.

  8. wtf? u dont have to wait 10 seconds to hop back over the ditch u noob

If you actually had the brains to READ HIS ORIGINAL POST

Then he is stating that they should CONSIDER THAT IDEA and put it into use to solve this otherwise insignificant problem.

And to those who are saying they should remove this and not other safespots. So are you asking all rangers to move to the cowpens and wait for people to start ranting there?

  9. Why remove it? It's there it's there. It's the same thing as a burglar complaining your door is locked and in the way when they want to rob your house.

Rangers use bolts and arrows, yes. Should they be able to pierce through armor? Well physically back then a NORMAL LONGBOW would be able to take out a fully armored knight from a castle wall. Call them overpowered, but that's the truth.

Removing this just because smart people are using it like RANGE IS SUPPOSED TO BE USED. A BOW is for long distance fighting. So either A) Remove it and give us rangers the ability to strafe (Fire while running) Or B) Quit complaining and don't pk there. If you're goal is to make melee the strongest skill ever, then I'd have to go against you.

What if they remove it? They'd have to remove it everywhere. ALL worlds. What problems will that make? And do you know how much coding they would have to do to remove it all? Just because you're a guy with a sword doesn't mean you should be able to stand face to face with someone who is supposed to be using hit-n-run tactics. Use range against them, if you're annoyed, don't PK.

I'll say it again: the ditch has no purpose under the context of its creation.

simply put- it was an ingenious device that jagex put it, but now, people know where the wilderness is, and they know theres a risk by going into it.

This isnt a discussion of "OMGZORS!!! ranged is so unbalanced because it can shoot over things" its a discussion of "OMGZORS!!! ranged has an unfair advantage because there is an ABUSEABLE STRATEGY"

This isnt a case of cow pen ranging, this is a case of cow pen ranging, where the ranger can jump to the other side of the fence once the meleer comes close, but then the meleer cant jump the fence. the ranger can jump, shoot, jump shoot, jump shoot, and never get hit by the meleer.

I figured people would notice the flaw in the system, but wow! you all just impressed me with how shallow you seem to be looking at the issue at hand. I for one, love ranged. The cow pens are dastardly and cunning, and I quite enjoy using them, and any fence to rattle off hp on people stupid enough to come in line of sight. The ditch however, isnt the cow pen. As I stated above, it is abusable in a way that makes the ranger completely invulnerable to melee, which IS unbalanced.

People arent, or at least shouldnt, be asking to have the ditch recoded to stop ranged. this just creates a new imbalance. what should be asked is that the ditch is removed entirely- It's only purpose is on safe worlds, in pvp, it just creates an impenatrable force field for rangers.

Hopefully some people will understand what I'm saying, I know many wont, but hey, I tried..

What about the people who wait in GE under tunnel and special Knockout the person who's coming out? ZOMG MELEE IS OVERPOWERED. Range is supposed to be like this. WE ARE SQUISHY! WE aren't suicidal and go up to point blank range.

Remove the ditch leads to removing all other barricades that rangers use for cover. If that happens, range is underpowered. Then to balance in melee-rs can't use their advantage, close melee. They can't wear armor since that gives them an unfair advantage. Heck, that will go to mages also. They can't use magic since it hits through melee armor too much. AKA, it will mess up the entire combat triangle. It's fair as it is.

You might as well be saying remove all the trees so that meleers can chase properly.

You might as well be saying that in real life, all soldiers should go charging up towards enemy fortresses with bayonets and complain they have a height advantage instead of using sharpshooters to pick off the gunners.

You might as well be saying everything is damn unfair and everything should die in a horrid fireball.

Give us rangers some slack yea? We still have to pay for arrows, extra food, more expensive range armor to match up against you beefy tanks.

  10. Yo, first thing when I come back to Tip.it I see this? Geez... Minus well start posting.

Well, my opinion on worthy/unworthy Pmods is... affected by many factors to say.

-I know plenty of Player mods

-I know some black market relating to this... unfairly I guess.

-The level 9 you saw was most likely Zzzamorak? Pure skiller, check'im out on Hiscores.

-I've honestly never seen abuse of powers by Pmods.

Sooo...begin the wall of text, and I'm just going to make it pink to whoever reads it so they can cry out in pain...got it?

Part 1) Player modship is a status, not of worship or extreme power, but it is a symbol that they are doing their part to contribute to the game. How they achieved such status is through what Scapers would call "Community Service" or as I would call it, "Report every single violator you can see". In this wall-o-text I will address not only the previous points made by players, but also my own views.

To the one who said that they don't have the right to mute people for just calling them a "noob". The ToS of Jagex does state this yes, but you forget, we are humans. If someone came up to you in life and called you a and claimed it was freedom of speech, what would you do? If they started cussing at you repeatedly, you would either

    A) Run to some authority figure (Whether a cop or a parent) and tell on them...

    B) Start cussing back

    C) Ignore him.

    D) Punch him

Most people would choose the last 2 choices, that is exactly what this person did. Name calling has always been a degrading part of Runescape in my opinion. So if you decide to do that to someone? Law of Physics, Equal and Opposite reactions, keep it in mind.

Part 2) People Actually Work for the crown y'now? Whether its through cash or sweat and tears, they still worked for it in some way in the other. Here I will address a small story that my brother told me the other day when I was gushing over a friends Crown:

There is a certain person in RS that if you pay him [X] Dollars via paypal, they will get your chosen account player mod-ship. They would create a ton of noob accounts and have your account report every last and single one of them, then recieve brownie points from their friends in the mod ranks and BOOM! You're a mod. This obviously sickened me of how the system was so corrupt, but as many Pmods that had posted in this forum have said, there aren't that many "Bad" Pmods. So I'm not sure if this story was correct or my bro was just trying to mess with my head.

Part 3) In regarding to 3_Hit_U or however you spell his name. He may have had a bad history, then again, WHO HASN'T? The past doesn't matter anymore, it's all the present and the future. As long as they aren't blasting apart society in the present, it's fine.

Part 4) To the person who talked about a player mod being rude to him. Have you ever considered that they were in the middle of trying to help out 10 other people? And couldn't take on the assist of an eleventh? The process for a PMod to mute someone temporarily has to go through analyzing the situation and ultimately, making the choice. If you were being too whiny (As other people have said in the past) then yes, it is OBVIOUS they will snap at you. Just because they are PMods doesn't mean they have to be the perfect epitome of a pure hearted helper.

Part 5) I'm done for now, fingers hurt. If the color blinds you, then don't read. If you want to read my part, read it all.

Off topic: I really need to update my sig -.-

  11. Few words to say...

Muddy Here, I'm one of the guys that goes along with Soma for the Armadyl trips mostly. Here are my tips...

Constantly eat if all the minions are on you.

    - Reason for this is last time we went, some reason, I wasn't even attacking yet all three minibirds were on me and I died pretty fast.

    - My hypothesis: If one was to pit themselves in a team against all the minibosses in godwars, then Armadyl would be the most dangerous because they do not switch targets based on who hit Kree last, instead, they find someone and stick with him.

    - Result: EAT like HECK when you see all of them looking at you.

    An easy KC method?

    - My way of getting KC is to stay right outside of the grapple pit. Be sure to wear all god items except Bandos, and pick off the level 69, 71, and the other weak one, make sure they are weakened first by the other denizens.

    - As for choice of weaponary. I am very versatile when it comes to this so I would suggest one of the following and I will also rank them...(1s best 5s least suggested).

5 - Misc Bolts - This includes all non enchanted bolts, mithril enchanted or below. They may be cheap, but they will take a while to take out an Aviansie. Strongly not recommended for people who wish to preserve their prayer or hitpoints.

4 - Adamant Bolts (Ruby Enchanted) - This may be good for taking out Kree at the end, but it just doesn't deal constant damage like it's Diamond Cousin. If you really want, carry these extra.

3 - Rune Darts. - Soma used these last time, they didn't work too well I would say, But they did the trick in dealing rapid and steady damage to take out the Aviansie. But if you are planning on going after the warriors (to prevent damage), I would not advise this.

2 - Obsidian Rings ( Toktz Ul Xil I think...) - I used these to retrieve my gravestone when I died last time. I ripped the aviansie to shreds but it costed me 20 rings that broke. These are HIGHLY recommended if you can afford them due to their massive damage and decent speed.

1 - Adamant Bolts (Diamond Enchanted) - These are by far the best i have used for kill count and Kree. They can deal out a massive stream of damage due to armor piercing and they also pack quite a punch. I would suggest these for the entire trip if you have them.

*PS* I did not include Dragon Bolts or Onyx bolts because they are just too darn inaccurate on Kree and a total waste of money in my honest opinion. If you want, go ahead and try to use onyx to save your hit points, but I wouldn't suggest it.

    Last Tip from me

Be a team player. If you finish your KC faster than others, help them out a tad, once they get half killed, nail it, it might help.

Kree is not a turkey. No matter what, DO NOT underestimate Kree, he has tendencies to whack real hard at sporadic intervals. Mostly due to magical attacks, keep your prayer on for range to lessen his assault. The magic attacks will still pack a punch so keep your hit points above 75%

Finally, coordination. Look out for each other, provide food when needed, and when one guy needs to go, if you only 2 men left, get out of there, You have to have at least 3 people if you are to do an efficient trip of at least 6 kills.
