  2. "After many suggestions and concerns, we have decided to test drive new advertising methods from another provider on our forum.

Please feel free to continue to report inappropriate ads that may appear, but there is no reason to bring it to our attention that ads are appearing differently then you are used to.

In the coming months, Silverion and I will be closely monitoring the displayed ads and making whatever changes are necessary to get rid of the annoying and intrusive ones.

This change will have no effect on the Runetips helpsite as we are only using the forum to test drive the new advertisers"

the above quote is from the announcements sticky, i am pretty sure this is what they are referring to... i get it too, and while its annoying a bit-- it DOES beat the creepy "hotpockets dojo master"

  3. but...if im not wrong...LotR did not "create" the word mithril

actually.. JRR Tolkien did create the word "mithril" ... along with many many other words, while alot of his madeup words had a basis in common Old English language.. "mithril" was entirely made up, and derived from one of the languages he made up. It is also the first elvish word to be included in the Oxford English Dictionary.

It is fascinating... to read how Tolkein compiled the languages used in his books, and any scholar who is interested in such stuff should look into this book "The Ring of Words:Tolkien and the Oxford English Dictionary" by Peter Gilliver, Jeremy Marshall and Edmund Weiner.

a description of the book..and info on the word "mithril" can be found here http://www.us.oup.com/us/catalog/genera ... 0199210763

ok ok... i am a geek.. but i do love words, and literature <3:

  4. in "what lies below", we say, "what if he fails to acquiese to our request?" which is a reference to pirates of the caribbean. if your vocab is too small to know what it means... it means no.

Yeah I noticed that one to!

(guys mithril is not from lord of the rings -.-)

"Mithril is a fictional metal from J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth fantasy writings. It is precious and silvery, stronger than steel but much lighter in weight. The author first wrote of it in The Lord of the Rings, and it was retroactively mentioned in the second, revised edition of The Hobbit, where it is also called "silver-steel".

In The Lord of the Rings, Tolkien writes that mithril was found only in Khazad-dÃÆÃâÃâûm (Moria), where it was mined by the Dwarves. However, in Unfinished Tales he writes that it was also found in NÃÆÃâÃâúmenor.

The name mithril comes from two words in Sindarin ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ã
