  1. Last I checked we were only able to craft water staves. If you want a staff to bind I suggest going to complexity 1 where they give you a random magic staff.

    Didn't work. It's always water.

But in the Magic guide, under the Dungeoneering tab, staves up to Catalytic are not tagged "members"

  2. The Runescape Dungeoneering guide claims that non-members are able to craft staves up to catalitic at lvl 50 RC, but it seems like you need fletching to acquire any other staff than Tangle Gum. Have I discovered an oversight, or is there another way to get Tier 2-5 staves?

  3. I'm putting together a small 3-5 person team for the new PvP worlds. I have a mage pure, my clanmate has a decent ranger. There are also several clan members with throwaway accounts that can be developed into other fighters. I am trying to figure out what would be a good combination of styles.

Thanks in advance for your help!

    p.s. all accounts are f2p

  4. I remember being lvl 48, melee based, and only bringing Full Steel because I was afraid of losing anything if I died. I believe i was using an Adamant longsword. I actually did die once, when I learned that just because wine is cheap and heals 11 it is not really a good thing to use for food against a boss.

I went ahead and spent the money for 10-15 lobsters and on my second try I defeated her.

  5. I'd like to see what a Mod would have to say about this. I have a feeling that posting a Tip to players who might not know falls squarely in the function of "Help & Advice."

Otherwise it would just be called "Help."

  6. The higher your RC level, the better runes you will get on average. My clan did some pretty good research on this when it was first released and found that you need an RC level in the low 60's to break even, including the cost of lunar teleports for fastest banking. You should be able to make a little, but not enough to really matter. If youre gonna do ZMI, do it for the fastest RC experience of any altar out there.

  7. Two tips:

    1. Get your summoning up to where you can take a macaw with you to chaos druids.

    2. If you want a specific type of herb, and have a decently high enough herb lvl, consider getting the gloves from fist of guthix.

  8. I feel very lucky to have found my current clan, we are skilling-based with one-day events and longterm skill races, just friendly competition among our members, but also we do some fun combat related stuff, like castlewars and duel arena (we just finished up our own tournament). We even had a serious clanwars team for a while. Above all though, a clan has to have a great forum community. The best part of SoG is that we are all friends, even though we are from all over the world.

I guess what I'm saying is I like a clan that is laid-back and friendly, instead of militaristic and strictly organized.

  9. We have our founder, who still leads us after almost 2 years. She has a right-hand-man, and together they are the forum admins (Gold Star and Key in CC). Below them we have a council of 3-5 leaders who help make decisions and moderate the forums (Silver Star).

We also have our Events Team, 2 members each for p2p and f2p, and our Recruitment Team -- another 2 members -- of which I am a part of. These members get the Bronze Star in CC, and the Recruitment Team also helps moderate the forums, mainly so they can accept new applications.

This setup has worked well for a skilling clan of about 100 active members. Hope it helps!

  10. As a skilling/community clan, we have 2 different ranks that might be considered "veteran" status. Our highest non-officer rank is conferred once a member hits 100 posts in the forums*. We also have what we call "Legend" status for those members who have at least 1 skillcape.

    Hope this helps!

*we are very strict on spam and punish it with post-count deductions, so no one can cheat their way up the ladder.

  11. In our clan, "offensive language" is explicitly defined as "language that offends the listener." As long as no one objects, our members are free to speak their minds.

In the case that one member does cross the line, the chat moderators handle it. Usually with a serious warning, and in a few cases expulsion from the channel. We've only ever had one member report a fellow member for breaking rule 1, and the player that filed the report did not use the appropriate mod support to solve his issue before filing, and he was severely reprimanded.

I suppose you could say we police ourselves.

  12. Considering how common a hilt is (let's say 1/300), that would mean you could get 2 in 9000 kills.
No lol. You cant place a drop rate on hilts, and if you could thats not how it would work, anyways it was a glitch, thats how he got two bones and ranarrs as well.

I say you CAN put an experimental drop rate on anything, and the only problem I have with Comp's point is his math. If the drop rate of an item is 1/300, the chance of getting it on back-to-back kills (or two at once, if possible) would be 1/300^2, or 1/90,000, not 1/9000. Simple error.

  13. Try this:

When you first attack and you run out to get closer to the monster, after your first bolt hits run back to your spot and wait for your opponent to come to you. once it is right up next to you try again. This worked for me in the black dragon area of the Evil Chicken's Lair.

  14. i never tried it myself but wouldnt you be too heavy with your oak logs to use the balloon method. i mean i tried to make a load of beavers with the balloon method to taverly, and i was too heavy with my willow logs even though i had boot of lightness, spottier cape and penance gloves.

you'll notice I addressed that already. you can carry up to 20 oak logs, plus the willow.

  15. 2. I think the fastest banking for iron is southeast varrock.

    3. Farm or kill monsters for all your own herbs and secondaries.

    4. Idk about guides, but I preferred to set up a cicuit of all 4 allotment patches, growing herbs and vegetables, and threw in some trees and bushes where it was convenient. You can sometimes find people who will *give away* acorns and apple seeds.

  16. castle wars ballon method

start at castle wars exit and go north of castlewars and use the ballon to varrock

    make planks

    tele to cwars

    and repeat

This is, in my experience, the fastest way, but if you do, wear boots of lightnessand a spotted cape if you have one. You can carry 20 oak logs at a time plus the willow you need to get to Varrock.
