  1. Yes player moderators are worthy and Jagex does carefully select them. About them abusing powers isn't really true, though it depends on how you define it. Abusing powers to the degree of muting innocent people won't work for long, because when you mute someone you send in a report as well so Jagex can investigate.

The fact that a large number of them can act rude, or more accurately, annoyed, is because tons of people bother them or sometimes even insults them based on generalization.

They don't get any favors besides that crown and ability to mute and aren't obliged to help out even if you ask them to or if there's a rule breaker nearby.

If there's one thing that holds true for a large percentage of Player Moderators, it's the fact that they report too much and even for small and harmful matters. This is caused by the fact that a player must send in many reports in order to become a moderator, and thus continue to do so after getting the position. Other than this you can't generalize.

I've based my thoughts and opinions on my own time as a previous player moderator, so I've been in the pmod environment.

If you based all this on your experience as a mod, you didn't read our rules too well...no where does it say we have a quota for a number of reports. I've been inactive on RS for OVER 6 months, and I still have p-mod status. It's not quantity (entirely), it's quality.

That's not to say that making 10-30 correct reports will get you modded, but it's a whole lot better of a chance than 70-100 bad reports. Don't just report people to report them hoping it will get you modded.

  2. I've been an off and on WoW player. I started last year in june, went from level 1-44 on my warlock, then left for about a year because I was getting bored at how long leveling was taking me personally.

Yes, coming from RS I was so used to grinding that I found myself grinding on WoW...a lot...

Then I discovered the greatness of mods, and quickly found a quest helper mod, and coordinates. Makes things so much easier when I know exactly where to go. Those quest descriptions don't always give an exact direction O_o

Well, i left for about..like 6 months or so to play RS again, came back to WoW in late january after summoning failed to hold my attention.

I went from 44-70 in maybe...2 weeks or so of casual play, and by the time i left warcraft a second time in early june of this year, I had attained level 375 tailoring, 362 engineering, and pretty much the best gear I could get before going to heroics or beginning Kara.

Want to know the biggest problem i had? Anyone I made friends with was always too busy doing whatever they were doing to go into instances, my guild wasn't anywhere near ready to raid Kara, and PVP was getting really, really boring after going through Alterac Valley for the 200th time to get honor points for the pieces of pvp armor that would make my Warlock better.

I had maybe 5 friends I talked to daily on WoW, and maybe a few more that i'd talk to occasionally on the guild chat. Now I'm coming from RuneScape, where my members friend list is almost ALWAYS full, I always have people to talk to, and I always have people to do stuff with.

Do I hate WoW? No. Infact if i had some more friends on there, and a guild that was Raid ready, MAYBE i'd bother paying out $15 to keep playing it. I'll most likely give it another shot when Wrath of the Lich King comes out.

  3. I'm generally a quieter person around those I don't know in real life. Though in the presence of friends, I'll talk with the best of them :)

In RS I'll talk to pretty much anyone, how long I'll talk with them depends on whether or not I can stand their company. Beggars last about 5 seconds >.>

  4. Now I see a LOT of begging, whining, immaturity and otherwise undesirables that you all have mentioned, but I've never been quite that annoyed that I'd have to turn off my chats or resort to only talking through PMs. And I smith in Varrock west for extended periods of time, so It's not like I'm hiding from it.

You get quite a few people asking for "free rune stuff" or a "free of whatever ur makin" right after someone has come in, asked everyone's smithing levels and they see someone say "92".

Is it annoying? yes, but it's really not that hard to get them to leave me alone. If you do something in large amounts like I do with iron, just tell them that: "if you WANT to follow me, go right ahead, but I have X amount of supplies and I'm going to be here for quite some time".

People usually leave me alone when they KNOW they aren't getting anything and that I have no intention to keep talking to them, even though I'm going to stay. I'm not gonna let annoying people stop me from using the fastest anvil in the game.

You'd be de-motivated from asking me for free stuff if you were gonna be following me while I make a few more hundred thousand iron knives too

As for mature conversations? i get those all the time. It amazes me how many people i can keep a decent conversation with, even if I'm just talking "shop" with them.

  5. I actually made a video for this a while ago and posted it on Google.

    The video is here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... nace&hl=en

I haven't used it in a while though, I've found gold or iron to be better, and i don't always have natures to alch with up there.

Though when I do it, I never have to drop anything, since i buy ALL the ores I need at the store right by Burtha.

  6.

Another thing worth mentioning is to make sure you have a firewall. Common sense for most I'm sure, but if we are talking about account safety, may as well throw it in there.

Something I do when my virus scanned warns me about having a virus is i put my computer on "lockdown". Meaning that I cut the internet off so that the virus can't download anymore viruses until my scanners have done their job.

If you play runescape the way I play, then a firewall is unnecessary.

However, I do other things so I do have one. :P

Basically, i'm just saying that no one can send you bad files through runescape.

Yes, I know it's impossible to get a virus through RuneScape, but it's still very possible to get it from somewhere else. Though those usually require some amount of stupidity to actually fall for.

  7. Actually, a good wawy to make money with smithing is to go to the blast furnace and make steel or mithril plates and alch them.

Take 10k, a fire staff, and a bunch of natures and you could live in the blast furnace for a long time.

You DO NOT even need to do ANY mining at all.

Another way to make money at a REALLY LOW smithing level is to either buy or mine iron ores, smelt with forging rings into bars and smith into knives.

You get 5 knives per bar, and they sell for 30-40 each, that's 150-200 gp per bar when you can buy ores at 100 each.
