Do any of you know if it is possible, once you have defeated the monsters, to just tele out of the shed with the ball or do you lose it or something if you do not sneak back through the garden? The guide made it seem like going back through the garden was the only way.

Yea, it's the only way to actually complete it. If you teleport, you'll lose the ball and have to do the fight (along with the mouse and cheese and sneaking through) again.

If Jagex ever made a perfect update, there would be players complaining about nothing to complain about.
