Ok two things... First, is there a quest you need to do to make throwing knives? And second, can you throw them from the tower in Pest Control with enough range to actually consistintly hit stuff?

You don't need to do a quests to make knives. And I was told that you could only hit the portals with longbows/crystal bows. Shortbows, knives and darts' range are too short.
