:)

I like technical drawing, it's more of a skill than an art and doesn't need as much shading to look right

could of blended the shaft more...

u prolly learned this in school but take some soft paper paper towel" roll it into a "joint" and blend together the lights/darks.. make it look more smooth

otherwise i like it... but it look like the head of the arrow is hollow...

01whitec2 I like scribbling with a ruler

It's just a reasonably quick sketch but I'll remember to blend the shading more next time.

Someone must have some scribbles somewhere they want to post :)

A sketch of a tree/cat/dead fish/a window/a pencil/something completely made up....

Anything!

Carefully cropped round a bottle and carelessly cropped round a round flask thing and stuck it up there....

Had a go at blending pencil lines with a grubby index finger.... seemed to work....

A fox-shaped scribble is looking promising at the moment.... :)

....and a dagger shaped one is en-route to being scribbled if I can actually decide on a design for the crosspiece.... :?

My scribbles are feeling lonely :(

Added a fluffy (sketchy) fox :)

Straight lines were from the lined paper it was on....

I think I'll give up on anyone else ever posting their scribbles here..... :(

ah well.... I can make an oversized post of a collection of sketchy drawings all on my own

Anyone's welcome to fiddle about with anything I've posted as long as you post a copy of whatever it ends up as/in back here

I might do some sig making myself actually..... :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Added another arrow since weaponry seems to be the most interesting thing around here.....

Drew it at a shallow perspective (attempted to), best seen non-thumbnailed.....

Penciled the lines, penciled some shading, biro'ed the lines, biro'ed the shading, rubbed out the pencil..... The real picture looked a lot better.... the shine on biro ink made it look more interesting.

Discovered a couple of things:

-raised areas on metal shouldnt be shaded but left blank and the lowered areas should be shaded....

-shallow perspective is dam difficult to get looking realistic or even pointing in the right direction....

-pencil then pen then a rubber to remove pencil.....

Also added a techy sketch of another arrow-to-be complete with construction lines so you can see how I get them like that..... Its going to be a sketch of an arrow appearing to fly over your head with the sky in the background..... :)

*edit I think I'll rotate the finished arrow back to pointing right.... it looks a bit odd like that

Added a nice little dagger which I created on graph paper several times before this version. Still not finished  Its inverted and shrunk by about 60%.

Changed the arrow in the previous post to a higher resolution one (I found the high res scan option at last.....)

Finishing pencil-shading the unfinished arrowhead and starting to go over with pen....

Everything up there is non-referenced apart from that globeish shaped thing which was a oil-lamp made of glass on my table.....

....wonder if memory counts as reference material?

Wondering about changing thread name to "Dyro's blog + drawings"

*edit: decided that dam arrow looks odd whichever way its pointing... the shading on the arrowhead blade is all wrong..... :?
