dunno_com
im just wondering, how can i create a virtual ip address in my network? You mean invent a different IP address for your computer? If so, I THINK that you can only change a few numbers on your IP address (usually the last couple of numbers) since the first lot of numbers depend on your location, ISP etc. and the last few numbers can be different computer terminals in your building. I can't remember how to do this though. Although, what I just said could be a complete load of rubbish. Hope it helped anyway.
Randox
Easyest if you have a router. The last 3 numbers can be changed without consiquence (within many limits). Normally only the last 1 or 2 numbers can actualy be changed (you can change others but then internet wont work), unless your in a building where they have reserved over 100 different addresses. Maybe someone can explain to you how to get to teh window where you can enter an ip address to use, I don't rember enouph about XP and I am assuming you aren't using vista (which is not as bad as people make it out to be). Good luck trying to find out your range of addresses, and without a router you may not even be assined a range, and with a router, changing your ip address may only addply to your house and not the address servers outside your house see. If your tryign to mask your ip address I might suggest proxies are a better option. EDIT: If its a virtual IP in a house network you want, buy a router. It should assign virtuals up to yin-yang.
